Dear Friends, This Saturday, June 1, we celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation at St. Gerard’s. It is a momentous occa-sion in the faith life of our Confirmation candidates. While we all remember being anointed with Chrism on our forehead and being called by our chosen Con-firmation name, we can forget that we also repeated our Baptismal Promises at the liturgy. Most of us were baptized as infants and our parents made a promise to raise and educate us in the ways of faith. At Confirmation, the candidate makes the Baptismal Promises of his or her own free will, having attained the age of discernment and having learned their meaning. For that to occur they have been immersed in a Confirmation program consisting of catechesis and service the last two years. Congratulations to them and thank you to Mike Mahan and all who have helped prepare them for this milestone in their lives. Yours in Christ,

Seventh Sunday of Easter—Reflection In today’s Gospel we hear part of Jesus’s final dis-course to his Apostles. These are among the most touching and inspiring words of Scripture. Jesus speaks from his heart, giving instructions and en-couragement to his closest friends. Directing his words to his Father, Jesus prays: “And I have given them the glory you gave me, so that they may be one, as we are one, I in them and you in me…” Take time this week to read this gospel as Jesus’ prayer for us. How will you respond to this prayer?

6-WEEK GRIEF SUPPORT GROUPS Wednesday Evenings, 6:00 – 7:30 pm offered during the Spring and Fall If you have suffered the death of a loved one and feel you would benefit from prayerful reflection and conversation in a support-ive Catholic Christian environment, please join our Grief Support Group which will meet here at Saint Patrick Parish for six consec-utive Wednesday evenings from 6:00 – 7:30 pm. Together, we will explore the grieving process and consider the spiritual elements of grief and healing. As part of these peer sup-port group meetings, participants are invited to share their expe-riences with other grieving people who offer faithful understand-ing, acceptance, and support. GRIEF SUPPORT DROP-IN EVENINGS 2nd Monday of each Month (except holidays & excluding the month of July) 6:00pm - 7:30pm There is no registration required to join us for these evenings of peer support for those grieving the death of a loved one.
