Santos-Concio also delivered the well-applauded open-ing keynote presentation at the sixth annual ContentAsia Summit Thursday (September 4) to discuss ABS-CBN’s sto-rytelling strengths and hopes and strategies for content creation. In her presentation, Santos-Concio shared that the se-cret behind ABS-CBN’s successful programs and films is crafting stories with familiar plotlines but with strong, unique, and authentic characters that audiences can root for and relate to. Drawing the strongest positive reactions from the attendees were the feel-good ‘kilig’ scenes from “Be Careful With My Heart,” the poignant moments from “Starting Over Again,” and the confrontation scenes from “The Legal Wife.” The summit, which had the theme “Great Sto-ries, Well Told,” was attended by content crea-tors, producers, broadcasters, program buyers, programming heads, and executives, and focused on creativity and innovation in content creation, packaging, production, marketing, and distribu-tion. Speaking for the first time since his sex video went viral back in July , TV host Paolo Bediones admitted that talking about the subject still hurts him until this day. In an interview released at writer Ricky Lo’s column recently, Paolo explained, “As much as possible I don’t want to comment on it. It’s still very fresh and it still stings a lot. That much I can say right now.” The TV host admitted that being in such kind of controversy made him feel helpless and even borderline hopeless. “What else can anyone

expect in a situation like that? I guess it felt like the whole world crumbled on you. But even if at a certain point parang tumigil ang mundo mo, the reality is that the world will keep on turning.” But since he was confronted with very limited options, Paolo opted to rise above the occasion and just accept that what is done is done. “The question is, ‘Do you want to stop and let the whole world get ahead of you? Or do you want to stay on the bus and try to survive the bumpy ride?’ I have chosen to do the latter — try to survive the bumpy ride. What can you do? Life must go on,” said he. If anything, being a TV personality and suddenly hogging headlines due to such private videos, says Paolo has lent him some perspective. Among the things he realized is that “I don’t want it to happen to anyone else.” He added, “For one, sana mahuli whoever is behind it and made to answer the crime so that people will know that what was done is really a crime. As I said, I don’t wish it to happen to anyone. People must be imagining what I’ve been through but they’ll never know how painful the experience is.” Yet amid all this ordeal, a lot of Paolo’s friends, fans, colleagues and even his home network expressed support for him. While he admits to garnering more bashers since the release of the video, he emphasized that these critics only made him appreciate those who love him dearly. “I thank even the bashers because at the end of the day the more they bash me, the more I feel the love of other people who are sympathetic to me. I realized that I have taken for granted how much some people love and care for me and now I really appreciate it,” said Paolo. Meanwhile, Paolo, as said in the report, begged off from addressing the rumors that he has supposedly resigned as a news anchor on his late-night news program Aksyon Tonite which he hosts together with Cheryl Cosim. But many are wondering, how was he after all that has happened? “I guess you could say that I’m trying to be okay. I’m keeping myself busy,” started Paolo. Apparently, there’s still a silver-lining in his life as of the moment among them his upcoming venturing into the restaurant industry. “I’m attending to the three restaurants that are set to open soon. One is a resto-pub called Puñta, the Pampanga delicatessen called Balé and the beer place called Hoolala. I am also training with the Philippines Air Force to be an officer of the Reserve Corps, which is part of Rescue5 (a TV5 public-service show),” he ended.

Controversial host Paolo Bediones has reportedly resigned as a co-anchor on his late-night newscast Aksyon Tonite. This news was revealed by veteran journalist Ricky Lo on his Philippine Star column recently. Paolo reportedly has been off-cam from the said show, for almost two weeks now.

The report added that at first rumors have it that Paolo will only take an indefinite leave but apparently he supposedly decided to leave the show for good. Despite leaving the news program, he will continue to host the Public Affairs program Demolisyon, the report appended. Paolo’s move, many presume, had something to do with the fact that his sex scandal with an unnamed woman went viral. The first one that emerged last July was six minutes long while more recently, a second one emerged on social media which reportedly ran for 16 minutes. Apparently, the report said, that the release of the second video was the straw that broke Paolo’s back and that prompted him to resign. Recall that Paolo has owned up to the first video and claimed that it was shot when he was still with GMA. When the first video went viral, his current home network TV5 issued a statement of support about his latest ordeal. Paolo has already tapped the National Bureau of Investigation to search for the perpetrators of the release of his private video over the web. Meanwhile, the former news anchor has yet to issue a statement on this latest news about him. But on his Instagram post last week, it seemed that he hinted about certain decisions and how it would allow him to break away from “fear.”

Shocking the entire showbiz industry on Monday morning was the news that veteran star Mark Gil has succumbed to liver cancer. This was confirmed by the Eigenmann family in a statement sent to the press that same afternoon. “It is with much sorrow that we announce that he passed away this morning at exactly 8am. He died peacefully in his sleep in the arms of his wife, Maricar, and surrounded by family,” said the statement.

Turns out the actor has learned about his condition the first time in 2012. Born as Rafael Jose de Mesa Eigenmann, the prized actor has apparently explicitly wished that his condition be kept from the public, select friends, and the press despite being diagnosed to be terminal June this year. In the end, the family thanked all the fans that showered the actor with love until the last moments of his life. Amid the outpour of commemoration, the family asked to be given the chance to mourn his passing in private first before they open his remains to the public soon enough. Reports have it that the remains of the 52-year-old star have already been cremated hours after his passing at the Heritage Park Chapels and Crematorium in Taguig Known to be part of a family of stars, Mark’s family, especially those overseas, all made time to fly in and support each other during this dark moment in their lives. His parents Eddie Mesa and Rosemarie Gil as well as his daughter Ira Eigenmann and brother Michael de Mesa flew back due to his condition. While he was recently living with his sister brilliant actress Cherie Gil as his home was currently undergoing renovations. The Filipino-Spanish-SwissGerman actor has six children there’s Gabby and Ira with actress Irene Celebre, there’s Sid and Maxene with actress Bing Pimentel, Andi with Jaclyn Jose and Stevie with his wife Maricar. All his kids were in the country when he passed away save from Sid who recently flew to Singapore for a series of shows for his ongoing soap with the other network. Meanwhile, his eldest son Gabby took to his Twitter account on Monday to express his undying love for his late father. “And so you held my hand in yours, just like you did when I was young . But then you held it to your heart just as you slowly slipped away. Today I said goodbye to you Dad. I said the last I love you that you would hear. Fly free with the Lord, fly free without pain. No worries, no problems, just love. Thank you for everything you have done for me and the family. Thank you for the legacy you have left behind. On September 1, Filipinos were shaken at the news of actor Mark Gil’s demise. Gil, who was Raphael

John De Mesa Eigenmann in real life, passed away at the age of 52. He was diagnosed with liver cirrhosis two years ago. movie. He played the character of Abner, a troubled tabloid reporter

1. DANIEL’S STRONG FAITH IN GODIt’s not so much of him being religious, but his strong faith in God. Daniel believes in God’s plans for him in everything. Even with finding the love of his life, Daniel said he doesn’t look for her but trusts that she will come in God’s time.

2. DANIEL IS THE EMBODIMENT OF WHAT A REAL MAN SHOULD BE A REAL MAN TRIES TO BE STRONGER FOR OTHERS. Daniel literally caught Vickie when she fainted and he never left her side while she was unconscious. It was endearing how he panicked when she fainted. It was even cute and touching when he implored her to allow him to do her chores so she could rest. Daniel was also there when the housemates such as Maris and Loisa were emotionally weak and crying inside the house. He was generous with his hugs and even massages his housemates when they were sore and tired. He was also the physical fitness trainer and motivator of the housemates, especially his guy housemates.

3. DANIEL IS HUMBLE, MABAIT, AND MASIPAGDaniel doesn’t come off “mayabang.” Even the Queen of All Media Kris Aquiono said that Daniel is “gwapo, mabait, and humble.” Kris calls Daniel “Dandan” and said that she can attest to “DanDan’s” being mabait because she has worked with him several times. When some of the five finalists—namely Jane Oineza, Loisa Andalio, and Maris—were asked who they wanted to win if they didn’t get the title Big Winner, they all said Daniel because he is “sobrang mabait and masipag.” Daniel has also been working since he was 15 years old and in Kuya’s house he was not afraid to get his hands dirty. Aside from cooking, he would get down on his knees to sweep the carpet and he would also clean the bathroom.

4. DANIEL IS SELFLESSDaniel told the housemates that he doesn’t like sharing his sob stories, because he doesn’t want to make them sad or cloud their mood by passing on a negative vibe. He only shares light stuff about his life, most times, so he’d bring smiles to his housemates’ faces. DANIEL LOVES HIS FAMILY Daniel doesn’t like crying and the only times that he could not hold back his tears was when his mom, sister, and his dog Duke visited him in the house and when he talked to Maris about his family. Daniel also admitted that one of the reasons he cried during the Big Night was because he “misses his family so much.”

6. DANIEL HAS ‘PUSONG PINOY’Daniel has been to many countries, mainly for work, but he likes the Philippines best for its culture and the Filipino people. Daniel said the Philippines has an amazing culture and the nicest people. He says,” It reminds me of home, Brazil.” He also dreams of bringing his family to live in the Philippines. In an interview with Kris Aquino, he said he’d want them to become Filipino citizens so they could live here for good.

7. DANIEL IS ‘TOTOO’Daniel doesn’t deny that another reason why he has come to love our country is because it has welcomed him with open arms in terms of giving him a lot of career opportunities. Daniel admitted that he also auditioned for Big Brother in Brazil but was denied a slot in the competition. DANIEL’S COMING TO MANILA WAS DUE TO ‘DIVINE INTERVENTION’Fans of Daniel have a pastor in Brazil to thank why this Christian hunk even considered trying his luck in the Philippines as a model together with his sister. “Our pastor in Brazil advised us that there was a purpose here for us. I was in Hong Kong at that time and work was good for me. Vanessa said that we have to go to the Philippines because we have a purpose there. In the beginning, I didn’t believe it and I told her that it’s hard to leave something that is concrete, versus something that is not,” he said, but they decided to stay because his sister also fell in love and got married to a Pinoy businessman named Jun Sunga.

DANIEL’S TONED BODY IS NOT SOLELY BECAUSE OF HIS GOOD GENES Born to a Brazilian mother named Geralda and a pure Japanese father that was born and raised in Brazil named Paulo, the 25-year-old stunner explained that his body was actually a by-product of “a lot of work” and not just good genes. “I play football every day for two hours, so that’s a lot of cardio, running. I do gym also, every day, for two hours. No trainer because since I was 14, I’ve been working out, I learned everything about fitness and food,” Daniel shared even adding that he used to be “chubby” before.

4. DANIEL IS A PROFESSIONAL FOOTBALL PLAYER Daniel was actually a professional football player prior to moving to the Philippines. The Brapanese model first played as a midfielder for the Division 2 of locally-based Team Socceroo in 2011 before moving to Division 1 Pachanga Diliman during the 2012 UFL Cup. Then just last year, he moved to the famed Stallion F.C. He also plays as midfielder for Kaya F.C.

6. BOREDOM IS WHAT MADE DANIEL TRY ACTING Although he has yet to land on a titular role for a project, Daniel actually has a couple of films and soaps to boast of. Among them the box office Star Cinema hit, She’s The One. But the reason why he actually tried acting was because he got “bored” of modeling. “Nine years of modeling, it can get boring. DIRECTOR ERIK MATTI BLASTS LOVI POE IN FB POST FOR REFUSING TO DO “TIKTIK” SEQUEL

In an angry post on his Facebook account, director Erik Matti airs grievance over his ruined production of Tiktik The Aswang Chronicles sequel because of actress Lovi Poe’s

refusal to reprise her role. “Over a month ago, we got word that she does not want to do it because it was just for two days,” Erik wrote in his FB status, explaining further how Lovi and her manager Leo Dominguez does not want to honor their previous contract. “I am pissed that a starlet like Lovi Poe would have the gall to go against the contract she signed just because she does not want to do a two-day role,” Erik angrily stated. The multi-awarded director and script writer also emphasized that he won’t be getting Lovi or any of Leo Dominguez’ talents in his future projects. Below is Erik Matti’s Facebook status in full: I’ve always thought highly of actors, stars and celebrities being intelligent enough to make the right choices for the roles they want to play on films. I have been disappointed several times in the past but I am always hopeful that maybe next time actors will make the right one. I am currently doing the sequel to Tiktik The Aswang Chronicles that starred Dingdong Dantes, Joey Marquez, Janice de Belen, Ramon Bautista and Lovi Poe. Yes, Lovi Poe. She played the girlfriend of Dingdong as the requisite pregnant damsel in distress in a siege film. It may not be as important a film as a Cinemalaya entry but I think it’s a fun worthy project to do. The sequel Kubot The Aswang Chronicles takes off where the first one ended with Dingdong and Lovi along with their newly born baby Macky rushing to leave the town of Pulupandan. We have a new leading lady for the 2nd film. This time it will be played by Isabelle Daza. So you might ask what happened to

Lovi? Well, Lovi will supposedly be in the film for 2 shooting days. That will be how long the opening part will be shot. I leave you guys to figure out what happens there but after that opening sequence, the story continues after two years of that incident. So technically, the lead actress In the first film Lovi Poe will only be shot for 2 days here in the 2nd film. Now that’s where we encountered problems. In franchise movies like these, we in Reality Entertainment, AgostoDos and GMA films, as producers think beyond than just one film and we stipulate in our contracts for the actors that they should be ready to do 3 films. That holds true for Dingdong (even if he is a co-producer), Joey Marquez, Janice De Belen (even if she died on the first one. Who knows, she might re-appear as the ghost conscience of Joey Marquez) , Ramon Bautista (that even if his Bart character died, he’s now back in the 2nd film in a surprise role) and of course, Lovi. For months now, we, the producers and the production have been struggling to negotiate with Lovi and her managers to shoot the opening sequence. Over a month ago, we got word that she does not want to do it because it was just for two days. We dangled every possible option just to get her to agree with us EVEN WHEN WE HAVE A SOLID CONTRACT TO HOLD HER UP TO THIS 2nd film, but she and her manager Leo Dominguez still said no. (Even if, by the way, our new lead actress, Isabelle Daza is also coming from the same manager). The final straw that made us decide it would be impossible to get Lovi Poe to do the role was when they said yes but demanded a ridiculous amount of money for it. There I realized, “Tangina, wala talagang plano ‘tong Lovi na ‘to na gawin ‘tong sequel. Huhuthutan lang kami nito na parang nangongotong na pulis!” This post is long overdue. As part producer of the film, I don’t want any

negative publicity to put the film in a bad light. I only decided today to post this because it has been 3 weeks now and we have been looking for a replacement for Lovi and we couldn’t find anyone. I just realized, Lovi screwed us up! And even with a contract binding us to her, showbusiness doesn’t really operate that way. As much as possible, whatever the conflict, avoid any corporate and legal confrontation. I am pissed that a starlet like Lovi Poe would have the gall to go against the contract she signed just because she does not want to do a two-day role. We will, of course, still find a replacement for her after all the burden she put on us and the production. Just want to vent out my frustration at how these managers and starlets think so highly of themselves. Gumawa lang ng Muslim Musliman na indie kala mo serious actor na. This will be the last time I will get a talent from Leo Dominguez. And Lovi Poe, kahit maliit lang kaming production company, you will never get any offer from us again. James Reid said he really put in the effort to prepare for his second film with Nadine Lustre, Talk Back and You’re Dead, which is still raking in ticket sales. “We had workshops together. We completed Master’s Acting Workshops,” James said in an interview with Push adding that “I personally asked

for character workshops, workshops designed to get you into character before we shoot. It really helps.”

Instead of the fight scenes or the heavy scenes, the Filipino-Australian young actor cited a different part of the film that

got him a little worked up. “I didn’t really have that hard of a time. I mean, the hardest part was Tagalog probably for me. I enjoyed all of it, really,” James said. His second movie is quite different from Diary ng Panget. For one, James has bared a lot of skin in TBYD and he and Nadine shared a lot of kissing scenes on this movie as well. “Yeah there are a lot and it’s really part of the book so, that’s why,” James said of his kissing scenes with Nadine. From a guy’s perspective, he admitted that he does “look forward” to their kissing scenes because “They’re fun.” Jadine will be seen in the follow up installment of TBYD. According to James, they are still in the dark as to what is going to happen in the sequel.

Will he be more daring in the next film? “I’m giving the people what they want. I had fun. I’m comfortable with my

body so. [But] I think so far I’m showing a lot of skin but it’s up to Boss Vic [dell Rosario],” he explained. He adds though,

“Personally I don’t think so. I do have limits. I could take off my

shirt, for me that’s my limit for now. I’m only 21.” In TBYD, Joseph Marco played his rival for the heart of Nadine’s character. To this he said, “Joseph has become a really good friend of mine. You know it’s only been less than a month and we’re already so close.” With the good reception that Joseph has been getting of late due to their film, does he feel threatened that he might come between his love team with Nadine? “I’m not threatened or anything. Comedienne Pokwang took to Instagram to express her fury about a certain showbiz reporter, who

according to her is constantly bad-mouthing her. Pokwang also posted a photo of a check deposit slip in her IG account which is “evidence” of how she was deceived by the said reporter before.“Isa lang ito sa nakatagong ebidensya ng pang uuto mo sa kin ng panahon na nasa abs cbn kapa at may bulaklak ka sa dila! Comedian Vhong Navarro could not help but feel depressed over the release of Cedric Lee, Zimmer Raz and Deniece Cornejo from jail. The three involved in his alleged mauling incident got out of prison because they were

allowed to put up bail early this morning. “Siyempre nalungkot. Nadepress. Naiyak nga ako noong gabi. Di ko alam san nanggaling yung luha bigla na lang bumagsak,” Vhong told Marie Lozano in his interview with Bandila. Vhong added he is most worried about his family’s safety, specially since he will be leaving for It’s Showtime’s Canadian tour. “Ngayon unti-unting nagsisink in ulit. Kasi siyempre, ito na nga yung pamilya ko, babalik dun sa kung ano yung naranasan ko sa loob nun condominium. Yung mga paratang na binigay sa akin, ‘di ba yung pagtututok sa akin ng baril, yung kung anong sinabing pwedeng mangyari sa pamilya ko at sa akin.” The Street Boys member however, thanks his supporters for their continued prayers and trust in him. At 6:00 pm, September 16, Cedric Lee and Zimmer Raz were finally able to say goodbye to Camp Bagong Diwa and were on the way to Makati for a bienvenida dinner with their families and friends. They became quite emotional as they bid their cellmates farewell, hugging and promising their newfound friends future visits. After five months of incarceration, Lee shared that he learned and experienced a lot, taking the time to reflect on what has happened to him. “Nagpapasalamat po kami kay Judge Esperanza na binigyan kami ng temporary liberty habang dinidinig pa ‘yung kaso namin.” In an exclusive phone interview with TV Patrol’s Ted Failon, Lee gave his assurance that he had no plans of fleeing. “Sa katunayan, from day 1, sinabi ko naman na expired na ‘yung passport ko. Hindi ko naman po pina-renew dahil hindi naman po namin balak tumakas. Haharapin namin itong kasong ito hanggang sa dulo dahil alam naming matibay ang kaso namin.” Aside from the serious illegal detention case, Lee also faces other charges. “May perjury and grave coercion

pa, pero pero related cases naman po ‘yan,” he states. “Dinamihan lang nila ‘yung kaso para maperwisyo kami, iisang kaso lang ang pinagmulan lahat niyan.” Lee also faces charges on tax evasion, which he has yet to deal with. Despite the temporary freedom, Atty. Calleja remains vigilant. “Hindi pa ito ang panahon para magbunyi o magsaya kasi mahaba pa ang proseso. This is only one step towards getting the truth in favor of our client.”

It seems like things are finally going Deniece Cornejo’s way. After staying in jail for five months, the Taguig RTC has approved Cornejo’s temporary release pending her payment of P500,000 bail. Cedric Lee and Zimmer Raz posted bail ahead of her and were able to go home already. When Lee was asked if he had plans of helping out Deniece in posting bail, he replied that they have not discussed it. “The last time na nakausap ko po ang kanyang mga abogado at kamag-anak, ang sabi nila, mara-raise naman po nila ‘yung pampiyansa ni Deniece.” According to Atty. Ferdinand Topacio, legal counsel of Cornejo, they will be able to post bail a day after, on September 17. The day that Lee and Raz were released, Cornejo was also seen attending the preliminary investigation of her perjury case at the Manila RTC. Even after being released temporarily, she still has to go face the cases of grave coercion, serious illegal detention, and perjury filed against her. Nonong Kho, Cornejo’s uncle, shared their family’s sentiments. “We are very elated with this development, and I think soon enough, victory is on the side of Deniece Cornejo.”

Surprising the crowd during their arrival at the red carpet were former Kapamilya stars Heart Evangelista who graced the red carpet with her fiance Sen. Halfway through the show, ABS-CBN gave a donation to Kapamilya star and Miss World Megan Young’s chosen charity. The reigning beauty queen chose the Miss World fundraising campaign called Beauty with a Purpose. One of the most anticipated parts of the glamorous event, apart from the stars’ entrance at the red carpet, was the handing out of the special awards.

Sam Milby cleared up recent reports that he is seeing Shaina Magdayao. The Filipino-American actor clarified that they do see each other, but always in the company of other friends. “’Yung mga times na nag-hang out kami, we didn’t

Almost a month since he was last seen on TV, King of Talk Boy Abunda finally confirmed that it was indeed due to his health condition that he was forced to take a short break from the limelight. In an exclusive interview on The Buzz aired

on Sunday, Boy shared that after a series of tests he then underwent a medical procedure called aspiration of the liver abscess, which drained over 300ml of abscess from his liver. Being in the hospital for over two weeks after the procedure, according to Boy, had cost him to lose 25lbs. “Hindi na mabilang na blood extraction hinang-hina po ako. Ang sakit sakit po ng aking nararamdaman,” he said. “My stay in the hospital humbled me.” According to him, his doctor told him that he had been “running too fast” thinking that he was “invincible.” He deems that his recent health ordeal was the Lord’s way of reminding him that he can’t just shoulder everything. More than worrying about his personal health, Boy, who was known for his avid love for his mother, emotionally shared that he had his ailing Nanay in mind the whole time that he was sick. “Doon sa ospital nakiusap talaga ako sa Diyos. Sabi ko ‘Panginoong Diyos, ‘wag mong papayagang ilibing ako ng Nanay ko. I don’t wanna die. Ayokong mamatay,’” he said. He continued, “Ang hirap isipin na ang Nanay ko na walang kamalay-malay sa bahay. Hindi maganda ang pakiramdam na ang kanyang nakikipagsapalaran, nakikipaglaban sa ospital. Sabi ko ‘Lord, itong isa lang ito. ‘Wag mo lang papayagang ang Nanayko ang maglibing sa akin. ‘Di ko kaya ‘yun.’ Nakiusap ako sa Diyos.” To make sure that his Nanay, who already has mild dementia won’t worry about him, Boy shared that they opted to tell her that he was abroad while he was confined at the hospital. “Pero alam niyo po, pagdating ko sa bahay, kahit sinabi nilang nasa abroad ako dahil ayaw nilang mag-alala ang aking ina.
