•There are different types of masonry such as veneer masonry, dry set masonry, and brickwork. •Veneer masonry: consists of usually clay-based bricks, installed on the sides of a structurally independent wall. When doing this type of masonry it is normally only for decoration, and not structure.•Dry set masonry: in this practice the friction belong the interlocking masonry blocks provides a lot of strength on its own so it relies less on the strength of the mortar.
