Sharing Christ’s love by encouraging, strengthening and supporting marriage and family life. August 2019 THE BRIDGE linking members, mission and events First Seminar in the Mountains Since 2011 MU Sydney have held a free Seminar at St Andrew’s Cathedral in the centre of our city aimed at helping Christians cope with the stresses of living and raising families in today’s society. But not everyone can easily get to the centre of the City and this year, for the first time, a group of 40 people were able to enjoy the MU Sydney 2019 Seminar - Between a Rock and a Hard Place - at Wentworth Falls Anglican Church on Wednesday 15 May. Two of the Speakers were able to repeat the talks they gave at the Sydney Seminar: Psychologist Kirsty Bucknell spoke on Resilience in Family Life and author Simone Boswell spoke on Growing Up Online: Cyber Challenges Today. They were joined by Sarah Condie who spoke from the Bible on Trusting God. Those who attended were very enthusiastic and grateful for the excellent teaching. We plan to take the seminar to the Blue Mountains again next year. The 2019 Seminar will be held once more at Fairy Meadow Anglican on Thursday 5 September starting at 10am.

MU SYDNEY SHOPThank you very much for the wonderful knitted items we had for sale in our shop during the cold weather. They were very much appreciated by our customers.

Our new Christmas cards have arrived and we also have some very attractive and different Fairtrade and other items ready for purchase as Christmas gifts.

The MU Sydney shop in Town Hall Square provides a Christian presence in the city and a place to purchase Christian cards, Christian books and some gift items. The Fairtrade items are hand-made by people in third world countries to allow them to overcome poverty and support themselves and their families.

The other advantage of having our Shop is that it allows us to provide a central office in

our widespread city for our members and their ministries as we support marriage and family life both locally and worldwide.

Our aim is to have the shop financially support our overheads so we need goods donated to sell, and customers to purchase our goods.

Please advertise and support our MU Sydney shop.

MU SYDNEY 2019 PROJECT

Renovations to Mothers’ Union accommodation facilities for Teenage Girls in Tanzania where they learn tailoring and

commercial skills, in partnership with Anglican Aid.

The Mothers’ Union in the Anglican Diocese of Mara in Tanzania runs tailoring courses for teenage girls. Their aim is to educate the girls and avoid their forced marriages at a young age.

In 2018 MU Sydney, in partnership with Anglican Aid, provided funds to purchase sewing machines for the girls.

When visiting the centre Eddie Ozols of Anglican Aid found that the facilities at the MU hostel where the girls stay while attending the classes were very poor and unsafe.

MU Sydney has agreed to provide funds to upgrade these facilities as our 2019 Project.

On his visit in May 2019, Eddie found that sewing machines have been purchased and work is underway to upgrade the facilities at the hostel to ensure the wellbeing and safety of the girls.

Please donate online at www.musydney.org.au/mumara/Bathrooms before Bathroom renovations underway
