Yes, we want to invite people to partner with us in ministry in Paraguay because we believe it’s important. But we also believe that by partnering with missionaries, believers’ lives become richer. In our last letter, I mentioned the first principle of transformational giving: “Every act of giving is first and foremost a statement about the faithfulness of God.” When I give, I’m declaring that God is faithful! The second principle is closely related: “Transformational giving is based on the abundance and trustworthiness of God, not a theology of scarcity.” A theology of scarcity says, if someone gives to ministry X, there will be fewer resources for my ministry. “There’s only so much money, and if I don’t make sure it comes to my ministry, I won’t get funded!” It’s a miserly, worried way of approaching funding. God has resources far beyond what I see or understand, and He can provide for all of His work to get done. He’s abundant, and He gives abundantly. If we believe that God is trustworthy, we don’t need to be close-fisted either with our resources or with our words of admiration about what God is doing in other ministries. God’s work is broad and deep, and He’s doing beautiful things in places I will never go and in ways I can never match. We celebrate and promote that and that makes us richer and God’s work gets done as we support one another. God’s Limitless Resources Until July 2015 The Bowens all together for Christmas in Kentucky. As we’ve traveled these last eight months telling what God is doing in Paraguay, we’ve tried to keep focused on the concept of “transformational giving.” We don’t want to use people in order to get our goals accomplished, even in missions. Transformational giving helps us understand that as we give to God’s work, we ourselves are changed.

In our November newsletter, we wrote about our need to buy a newer four-wheel-drive when we return to Paraguay. We want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your generous and prompt response to our request! We received generous gifts from many of you that are going to make it possible for us to buy the vehicle that we need. Thanks for investing in us and in Paraguay for the sake of the Gospel!

One of our greatest needs this coming September will be for a children’s teacher! Counting our Guarani language students’ children and our own boys, there will be seven kids that will need to do home schooling lessons in the mornings while we are having language class. We are looking for a single person who can come for a year to monitor these kids doing their lessons and help them when they need it. If you know anyone who might be interested, could you please contact us? Anyone who’s interested in applying may contact Jared Gleason at World Gospel Mission

( ). [email protected]

Would you please pray that we will find the right person for this important job?

As the calendar above shows, we plan to return to Paraguay on July 15. We’re over halfway through our homeland ministry assignment. As we have visited churches and camps, many people have responded very generously with financial gifts to send us back to Paraguay. What has been a bit slower to come in, however, are pledges of monthly support. The cash gifts are very important because they allow us to cover one-time expenses like airfare, buying a vehicle, relocation costs, etc. However, the monthly pledges will allow us to remain in Paraguay month after month for the next four years. We have lost some supporters through death, financial constraints, and other issues, over the past five years. Additionally, we have to raise some extra support to cover rising costs. Please pray that we will be able to raise this remaining support need in a timely way. Maybe God would have you pledge a part of this ongoing support.

When we return to Paraguay, we will hit the ground running. Ten days after our arrival, we plan to host a team of young people from Harvest Community Church in Kittanning, Pennsylvania. We’re really

excited about this group coming. They

plan to build a wooden playground set at our community church, Ita Tenondegua (Cornerstone). Would you please pray for these young men and women as they prepare for their trip, and pray that the experience would help them understand more clearly what it means to have a missionary heart?

We had hoped to report in this letter that Lizet had been granted citizenship in the United States. We have been going through this process for a long time. She took her citizenship test in Louisville in January and passed with flying colors, but we have yet to hear the final word that her applica-tion has been approved. Please pray with us that we would receive a favorable response and that it would come in time for us to get her a passport in time for our July 15th departure.

Thanks for the Wheels!

Meet Our Partners

Kurt and Heidi Jahnke have been ministry partners with us since 1993. Their kids are Levi and Emily. Kurt was my college roommate for 3 years at Asbury, and Heidi was our classmate. They are examples to us of faithful service to God and others over the long haul. They serve in their church, Alliance Missionary Church in Mountain Lake, Minnesota; and in their community, particularly to children through music at Mountain Lake Public School and to the elderly at Good Samaritan Village. We have about 190 individuals and 16 churches that partner with us financially on a regular basis, and we’re deeply grateful for

each one!
