Our story began in 2005 with the arrival of a little girl called Alice-Bee, the bonnie

first-born of our founder, Tracey Samuel. Although Tracey didn’t know much

about parenthood back then, she did have an impressive career in knitwear

design and an imagination built for creating new fabrics and textures.

With baby Alice on her knee, Tracey set about designing modern, colourful &

distinctive baby-knits for her new arrival. And so from the back bedroom of the

family home, with the expectation that you should ‘Buy once, buy well, pass it

on’, Bonnie baby was born. Armed with design & technical know-how and a new

found curiosity in clothes for wee ones, Bonnie baby set out to make practical,

tough-wearing, spirited baby clothes to be loved in, played in and passed

around. Parents loved our bright, bold designs that were practical, machine-

washable and to be shared between family & friends. As Bonnie baby and

our range of clothes grew, so did our family. Alice was joined by baby brother,

Rhys, who snuggled right into his big sister’s Bonnie baby hand-me-downs. But

kids grow up fast, so what would Alice & Rhys – and all our other older ‘Bonnie

babies’ – wear now?


Enter ‘The bonnie mob’! A new name and a wider range to celebrate our 10th

birthday, giving us all something to grow into. The bonnie mob represents

the fearless and the fun-loving. The spirit of freedom and the wildness of

childhood. For the den builders, the wildlife hunters, the felt-tip masterpiece

makers...

Playful clothes for newborn snuggles to seven-year old explorers that spark

imagination and go on never-ending adventures - a touch of handmade, a

pinch of vintage and a whole heap of durability. Who knows how our tactile

universe will grow, or where our next adventure will take us, but our clothes

will always be made with understanding, practicality and love.


we are the wild things!

Our new autumn winter 2015 collection draws from Tracey’s own childhood,

her memories of growing up in the 70’s and 80’s; romping through the Scottish

countryside, always on an adventure - building gang huts, looking for wildlife,

causing mischief on her beloved ‘chopper’ bike! Or stuck indoors on cloudy

Scottish rainy days, dancing to Abba on the radio and drawing endless felt-tip

pen masterpieces.

From the wild outdoors, creatures pop out of the designs:

Mr. Banks the Badger, peeping rabbits and padding paw intarsia’s mingle

with all over wilderness forest prints. From the warm, cosy indoors find your

inner ‘Artist’ and do some ‘tiny dancing’ whilst wearing textured chunky knits

inspired by Granny’s homespun creations. The look and feel is tactile and

playful, our bonnie gang of kids, wearing colourful, durable clothes, made for

playing and growing in, made to last!
