Page 1 of 2 Superintendent Mary Kamerzell shared the following student achievements. Catalina Foothills High School Congratulations to our 2015 high school AP Scholars. There are 177 of them! AP is a rigorous academic program. It enables students to take college-level courses and exams, and earn college credit or placement while still in high school. We offer eighteen (18) AP courses at Catalina Foothills High School. 53 are AP Scholars who earned scores of 3 or higher on three or more AP Exams (our average score = 3.18) 56 are AP Scholars with Honor who earned an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams (our average score = 3.85) 68 are AP Scholars with Distinction who earned an average score of at least 3.5 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams (our average score = 4.22) Among them are 10 National AP Scholars who earned an average score of at least 4 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 4 or higher on eight or more of these exams (our average score = 4.55) Congratulations to CFHS students who earned top state scores for Career-Technical Education assessments in Engineering, Entrepreneurship, Natural Renewable Resources - Agriscience, and Technical Theatre. For Technical Theatre, this is the fifth year in row for top scores! Engineering: Derek Chen (graduated) Entrepreneurship: Cameron Lee (graduated) Natural Renewable Resources (Agriscience): Christian Galindo (graduated), Lindsey Goss (graduated) Technical Theatre: Ethan Verebelyi (graduated), Noah Dettman (senior), Eitan Penner (senior) Their teachers are Theadore Manno, Ashley Piihl, Charles Schubert, Bernadette Moreno, Jason Reinhardt, Kim Gassman, Lisa Osinga, Norm Testa, Patricia Bills, and Sarah Wright. Approval of Policy CBA Qualifications and Duties of Superintendent (third reading) The governing board conducted the third reading of the CFSD policy related to the superintendent’s job description. The board requested a reordering of the bulleted items in the sections of Leadership and Board Relations. There were also a few other language revisions. The board approved the policy as amended. Approval of Revisions to Policy GBI Staff Participation in Political Activities (third reading) The governing board conducted the third reading of the CFSD policy related to the board’s process for evaluation of the superintendent. There was a recommendation for additional language revisions and the creation of two separate bullets or paragraphs from what was originally a single paragraph. The board approved the policy as amended. Approval of Resolution in Support of Legendary Teacher Day, September 24, 2015 Superintendent Mary Kamerzell reviewed the proposed Resolution in Support of Legendary Teacher Day, September 24, 2015. It is a day to encourage community members to contact their own Legendary Teacher and let them know how they made a difference in their lives. The governing board approved the resolution as presented. Catalina Foothills School District Teacher Retention Report Assistant Superintendent Denise Bartlett reviewed the report which contained results of the district’s teacher retention survey administered to certified staff during 2014-2015. Dr. Bartlett informed the board that the survey had several goals including 1) ascertaining what attracted teachers to the district, 2) why teachers continued to work in the district, 3) what factors might influence teachers to seek employment outside of the district, and 4) what factors provide job satisfaction.
