As salaamu alaikum,

We pray that this letter finds you in the best of health and imaan. We wish to

appeal to you in assisting us to empower our community financially. We have

chosen to use a simple and easy method to help us raise funds in a manner that is

not a burden, and we have named it the Black Friday Model pledge. What does

that mean?

According to the National Retail Federation, the average consumer spent $423 on

Black Friday in 2012, up from $398 in 2011. What if we as Muslims were able to

take the money that an average consumer spends in a time span during a day for

useless items and make a pledge to help our community that is struggling,

thereby lifting a burden and making things easy for believers? What we propose:

$400 equals approximately $8/week, or $32/month. We are trying to get a

minimum of 100 people to commit to $400 , being paid in full by the time the next

Black Friday comes, a whole years time. That could help us raise $40,000 by next

year inshaallaah. Imagine, the cost ofjust over $1 a day, a days lunch or a couple

of cups of coffee can help to empower a community that is in need. We ask that

you seriously consider joining us in this quest, and besides your charitable

contributions, you have the true statement of Allah in the Quraan:

..And whatever you spend of good - it will be fully repaid to you, and you will not

be wronged.[Quraan 2:272]

What are our plans for the money that we hope to raise? Among other things: A

totally new wudu station for the sisters, as well as totally rennovating our

basement for our upcoming school and resource center inshaallah. All with your

help!

Last year when we launched this pledge, one of the projects that we wanted to

tackle at the masjid was a rennovation of the brothers wudu station. Below are

pictures of what it looked like before and what it looked like after rennovation.

This is just a small project which shows what we can do when we are committed

as a community. As you view them, please consider signing up for this pledge on

the form on the last page to assist us, or if you were one of the ones who signed

up last year, please consider renewing your pledge again so that we can work

together in our duties to each other for Allah. May Allah bless you and reward you

exponentially!
