Later in the year, probably in October, we will begin another course, this time focussed on the Blessed Virgin Mary, and following a similar format to The Gift and The Big Picture, this course is entitled Let It Be and is produced by the same people: CaFE (Catholic Faith Education). I look forward to seeing you at the meetings and am sure that you will benefit greatly from the sessions provided. God bless you, Fr. Martin Please remember in your prayers all who are sick or suffering at this time, as well as those who care for them, may God grant them healing and strength. JESUS, I pray for: your faithful and fervent priests, your unfaithful and lukewarm priests, your priests labouring at home or abroad in distant mission fields, your tempted priests, your lonely and desolate priests, your young priests, your dying priests, and the souls of your priests in purgatory. But above all, I recommend to you the priests dearest to me: the priest who baptized me, the priests who absolved me from my sins, the priests at whose Masses I assisted and who gave me your body and blood in Holy Communion, the priests who taught and instructed me; all the priests to whom I am indebted in any other way (especially….). O Jesus, keep them all close to your heart and bless them abundantly in time and in eternity. Come & join us for the Big Picture, Part II - Mondays: 7.30-9.00p.m.

On Thursday 3rd May at 7.00p.m. in St. James’ church hall, Wilma Carragher will speak to us about her recent visit to Calcutta where she volunteered with the Missionaries of Charity. The talk, along with a power - point presentation, will give us an insight into the work of the Sisters, the impact the visit had on Wilma, and a glimpse of the spirituality and life of St. (Mother) Teresa of Calcutta. It promises to be a very inspirational and informative evening. If you would like to offer a donation that evening, any monies collected, or even foodstuffs etc. donated, will be passed on to the Missionaries of Charity in Dundee, who

depend entirely upon Divine Providence for their upkeep and their mission.

Meeting of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, on Thursday 26th April at 7.00p.m. in St. James’ church hall. Anyone interested in joining the

Society should speak to either Bob Corrieri (President), Tina Hill (Treasurer), or Jill Smyth (Secretary). New members are always welcome. At this meeting we hope to get existing members’ PVG

details up-to-date

You will have noticed that since Holy Week we have begun to use the Communion plate at Holy Mass when there is a server to assist. In the recent document “Redemptionis Sacramentum” (2004) promulgated by the Congregation for Divine Worship and Discipline of the Sacraments, Cardinal Arinze stated the following: ...special care should be taken to ensure that the host is consumed by the communicant in the presence of the minister, so that no one goes away carrying the

Eucharistic species in his hand... [93.] The Communion-plate for the Communion of the faithful should be retained, so as to avoid the danger of the sacred host or some fragment of it falling. [94.] It is not licit for the faithful “to take . . . by themselves . . . and, still less, to hand . . . from one to another” the sacred host or the sacred chalice. I’m sure then, that you will understand that it is for the sake of reverence and respect towards Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament and in obedience to the Church’s teaching that the Communion plate has been restored to use in both churches.
