As we begin July I wish you a very Happy Independence Day and pray that as we celebrate our national independence that even more, we celebrate the freedom, true freedom that only Christ can bring to us, our nation, our world. You may have heard by now that after consulting our Florida Annual Conference leadership; the rising number of cases in our state, county and zip code; and the diminishing numbers of attenders from last week to this past Sunday we have decided it is most prudent to once again cancel in-person worship. Our Re-Launch Task Force has made the difficult decision to postpone in-person worship until we see several consecutive weeks of declining numbers of new cases, hospitalizations, deaths, etc. We will use this time to continue to work out all the kinks on broadcasting our services over Facebook Live. I am so grateful for our wonderful church staff and volunteer teams who have been diligent and faithful to do our best with new technology without a moment’s notice. Small groups will be permitted to return to church beginning the week of July 6 th . If you haven’t already, please contact our administrator Gladys before returning with your small group. Thank you. Who could have ever predicted in January what we would be experiencing now in our country and around the world? I know I certainly didn’t see any of this coming. What all of this – the Covid 19 Pandemic, our national unrest, the approaching national elections, hurricane season, Saharan sand and whatever else may come our way is causing me to do is spend much more time in prayer and fasting for our church, our nation, our leaders, our world. I am fasting at least one day a week until 3:00 p.m. or so on either Wednesday or Thursday, sometimes both. I invite you to join me as we humble ourselves and seek God’s face. Let us use II Chronicles 7: 13 – 14 as our prayer guide: “When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command locusts to devour the land or send a plague among my people, if my people who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” I invite you to join me in prayer and fasting on Wednesday and/or Thursday to humble ourselves, pray, seek God’s face and repent for the healing of our land and a worldwide revival. May the Name of Jesus Christ be exalted and glorified above all else. In the Amazing Love of Jesus Christ, Brian Church Staff

July 2020

My Dear Sisters and Brothers, Happy July! Can we already be half-way through 2020? Hallelujah! Can I get an Amen? As we begin July I wish you a very Happy Independence Day and pray that as we celebrate our national independence that even more, we celebrate the freedom, true freedom that only Christ can bring to us, our nation, our world. “A Covenant Prayer in the Wesleyan Tradition” (Brian Carr Paraphrase)

I am no longer my own but yours O, Lord.

Put me to what you will, rank me with whom you will. Put me to doing, put me to suffering.

Let me be employed by You or laid aside for You, Exalted for You or brought low for You.

Let me be full, let me be empty. Let me have all things, let me have nothing.

I freely and heartily yield all things to your pleasure and disposal.

And now, most glorious and blessed God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit,

You are mine, and I am yours. So be it. And may this covenant which I have made here on earth,

Be ratified in heaven. Amen.

With the buildings being opened, it is a good time to return all the books you had borrowed before the shutdown. While you are at the library, browse the shelves and choose another book or 2 to enjoy.

NORTHPORT NEWS

Through a generous donation, we have been able to help ten students' families at Northport with Publix

gift cards. These families were struggling because of lack of work due to the coronavirus shutdown and other reasons. Your faithfulness in supporting our mission with the Northport K-8 School makes a real difference in real peoples' lives. You have been the hands and feet of Jesus to these families - and to the staff at Northport who see your love in action! Thank you for your unswerving support and your prayers! Speaking of prayers...please pray for the students, teachers, and staff at Northport throughout the summer. All our public school students had a deeply challenging spring semester. Think about it: their last day of in-school teaching was March 13 (Friday the 13th!), the last day before Spring Break. And that's the last day they saw their teachers, classmates, and friends. For the rest of the semester they relied on strictly online teaching, a challenge in itself. Sadly, a fair number of these students simply went off the radar - some didn't have internet access in their homes, others had no suitable electronic devices (or not enough of them, as they had to share with siblings who were also learning online), and others were isolated, confused, and just gave up. It will be a steep hill to climb when they return to the school campus. Pray for a safe, healthy summer; for active learning to continue in their homes; and for patience and perseverance for everyone as they tackle a new school year in the fall.

“I was walking down life’s highway a long time ago, and I saw a sign that read: “Heaven’s Grocery Store”

As I got a little closer, the door came wide open, and as I looked intently, suddenly I was standing inside.

I saw angels, they were standing everywhere. One handed me a basket and said, “My child shop with care.”

Everything a Christian needed. was in that grocery store. All you could carry that day; and can return the next day for more.

First I got some PATIENCE, and LOVE was in the same row. Further down was UNDERSTANDING, which you need everywhere you go.

I got a box or two of WISDOM, a bag or two of FAITH. And I didn’t want to miss out on the HOLY SPIRIT; He was abundant in this place.

I stepped to get some STRENGTH and COURAGE, to help me run the race. By now my basket was getting full, but I remembered I needed GRACE.

How could I forget SALVATION, for salvation, well, that was free! So I tried to get plenty of that, there was enough to save both you and me.

Then I started up to the counter, to pay my grocery bill. I thought I had everything I needed to do my Master’s will.

As I went up to the last aisle, I saw PRAYER and grabbed some, for I knew when I stepped outside, I would run right into sin.

PEACE and JOY were plentiful, they were on the last shelf. SONG and PRAISE were standing near; so I helped myself.

Then I said to the angel, “How much do I owe?” He smiled and said, “Just take them everywhere you go.”

Again, I smiled at him and said, “How much do I really owe?” Again, he smiled and said, “My child, JESUS PAID ALL THAT YOU OWE, HE PAID YOUR BILL A LONG, LONG TIME AGO.”

Have you gone shopping lately?

Carr’s Hard Heart Emporium

My acknowledgement and apology to Jeff Foxworthy for stealing his “you might be a redneck if” format. This is not an exhaustive list and you can certainly add to it.

You might have a hard heart if…

You might have a hard heart if you hold a grudge.

You might have a hard heart if your prevailing attitude is bitterness.

You might have a hard heart if you keep a record of all the wrongs done

against you.

You might have a hard heart if you can’t see the suffering going on around you.

You might have a hard heart if you can’t hear the cries around you.

You might have a hard heart if 4-letter words flow out of your mouth.

You might have a hard heart if everything is always all about you.

You might have a hard heart if you can’t put yourself in another person’s shoes.

You might have a hard heart if you cannot submit yourself to another person.

You might have a hard heart if you cannot submit yourself to GOD.

You might have a hard heart if you don’t say regularly, “I am sorry.”

You might have a hard heart if God’s word just doesn’t sink in deep.

You might have a hard heart if you just can’t grasp love of GOD and love of

neighbor.

You might have a hard heart if you give up and give in when life gets hard.

You might have a hard heart if the worries of this world cut off your faith and

trust.

You might have a hard heart if seeking wealth above everything else becomes

your focus.

You might have a hard heart if you spend more time pursuing wealth, fame,

celebrity, likes, friends, etc. than in your relationship with GOD.

You might have a hard heart if you find yourself always defending yourself.

You might have a hard heart if you just have to express your opinions any

chance you get.

You might have a hard heart if you know all the answers.

You might have a hard heart if…

As the Gideons were getting ready to distribute Bibles in the local Hotels and Motels one of them got a call from a Manager asking for Bibles. When the Gideon asked the lady, when she wanted to have the Bibles delivered she said right away. The Gideon was surprised to hear those words since most of the people that requested Bibles for their

business would normally say any time is OK. He asked her: may I ask why you are so eager to get the Bibles in your rooms so quickly? To this she answered: "The reason is that when those Bibles are in my rooms the Police don't come around." I think that what must happen in those rooms when the people walk in and see the Bible they either remember what some Sunday School teacher taught them or their Grandmother taught them. Please pray more Christian Businessmen and professionals will join in getting God's Word out in the Highways and byways all around the World that many may come to know Him.

Cuba has been dealing with Covid-19 since February much like us. Though times have been difficult for all of us here, add to Cuba’s picture the extreme poverty, lack of food, fuel, jobs, and medicines facing them during this pandemic. It’s so much worse for them now. U.S. Government new sanctions began June 12 that prohibits any transfer of monies thru Western Union to Cuba, and the Cuban government has again extended the closure date of their airspace until July 7th. All this makes reaching and supporting our church families there almost impossible. August 25th will be a coordinated area churches effort for the container drop-off going to Cuba. This is our opportunity to get much needed foods and medical necessities to them. Last year here at FUMC we were able to send two containers of food items. However, due to lack of funds and collected items, we barely have enough to fill one. FUMC last date to receive donations for this years shipment will be August 20th. For further info on the above you can email me at [email protected] or (772)336-0307. Many Thanks, Sandra McClure Cuba Missions

MISSIONS IS - GOD’S WORK THROUGH US

LAS MISIONES - LA OBRA DE DIOS A TRAVÉS DE NOSOTROS

SCRIPTURE FOCUS: ENFOQUE DE LAS ESCRITURAS:

"Give thanks to the Lord, call on his name; make known among the nations what he has done." Psalm 105:1 "Alabad a Jehová, invocad su nombre; Dad a conocer sus obras en los pueblos." Salmos 105:1

<>< <>< <>< MISSIONARIES--FROM EVERYWHERE TO EVERYWHERE! MISIONEROS - DE TODO LUGAR A TODO LUGAR!

So...why should you go to the mission field?

1) Because Jesus has told you to go. "Go into all the world and preach the Gospel to all creation." (Mark 16:15)

With these words, Jesus made it clear exactly what His disciples were to do - they were to spread His teachings in His name, preaching salvation unto the ends of the earth. (Rom. 10:18) If you consider yourself a "believer", then you must consider yourself a "disciple" of Jesus - no less called and chosen than the very first 12 apostles. There are no such things as "1st class" Christians and "2nd class" Christians - every believer is called to spread the Good News about Jesus to those who have not yet heard. Jesus' command is definite and clear - it is His great mandate, His "Great Commis-

sion" to the soldiers in His holy army. We must go, because our great General has commanded us to go.

Stuck inside for 4th

of July? Things may look a bit different this 4th of July but that doesn’t have to stop the fun! Many families will just be celebrating at their own homes with no fireworks this year. So let’s try to make the best of it we can! Decorate the house. Make flags

and get crepe paper to make it feel special. Make instruments and have a house parade.

Make a red, white, and blue cake as a family.

Have a watermelon seed spitting contest outside.

Have a water balloon fight with red, white and blue balloons.

Watch fireworks on YouTube in your house.

Go outside at night and play flashlight tag.

Give thanks and pray that we are home safe and healthy.

Scriptures for Your Celebration of Freedom

Psalm 118:5-6 Out of my distress I called on the Lord; the Lord answered me and set me free. The Lord is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me? (ESV)

Psalm 119:30-32 I have chosen the way of truth; I have set my heart on your laws. I hold fast to your statutes, O LORD; do not let me be put to shame. I run in the path of your commands, for you have set my heart free. (NIV)

Psalm 119:43-47 Do not snatch the word of truth from my mouth, for I have put my hope in your laws. I will always obey your law, forever and ever. I will walk about in freedom, for I have sought out your precepts. I will speak of your statutes before kings and will not be put to shame, for I delight in your commands because I love them. (NIV)

Isaiah 61:1 The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is upon me, for the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to comfort the brokenhearted and to proclaim that captives will be released and prisoners will be freed. (NLT)

Luke 4:18-19 The Spirit of the Lord is on me because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor. (NIV)
