The Maidenhead Choral Society was born out of the many local choirs of Maidenhead and founded in 1963 to celebrate the opening of the new Maidenhead Town Hall.
Our conductor, George Badacsonyi, has been with us for many years. He has a thorough knowledge of working with voices as well as instrumentalists and he selects congenial choral works with great care for our concert performances. George is very interested in the lesser-known works of the 'Great Composers’.His knowledge in this field is of great value, lest they be forgotten and lost forever. George inspires us to explore these pieces and with his guidance and the help of our most valued piano accompanist, Gillian Salmon, we rise to thechallenge of these enjoyable and rewarding works. Our future goal is to succeed in climbing the major peaks of choral literature and most of all, to enjoy the journey.
The human voice is indeed an amazing instrument and in song, has the ability to make us feel happy and exhilarated. Happiness releases the ‘feel-good’ endorphins into our bodies, helping to de-stress and giving us a better chance of good health and wellbeing.
