Deputy Grand Knight Report

Brother Knights,

We all joined this wonderful organization so that we

may help others. Well, this organization needs your

help. There are a few positions in our council where

our Brothers have been doing the jobs a long time.

* Our Worthy Chancellor would like to take a

break. If you are interested and would like to

know more about the position please contact

myself at or Brian Yacks at . We will work with

you and not drop it in your lap.

*The Knights run the 50/50 raffle at the church

festival. The previous chairman is unable to do

it anymore. We are in dire need of a chairper-

son(s). This raises a lot of money that goes

directly to the church. if we can possibly get a

few members to work as a sub-committee, no

one has to be there all the time. Please con-

tact me for more information.

*Our Worthy Treasurer would like to step down

within the next year. He is graciously staying

on due to the changing of the Financial Secre-

tary and Grand Knight in July. Please contact

me or David M. Nummer if you are interested.

Please remember the charges of the 2nd degree, Unity,

and 3rd degree, Fraternity. Your Brothers need your

help.

Vivat Jesus,

S.K.

Joe Kozlowski D.G.K.

Worthy Brother Knights,

The month of June is a month in which the Church honors the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Devotion to the Sacred Heart began to be popularized as a result of the efforts of Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque who had a series of visions of Jesus. During these apparitions Jesus explained to Saint Marga-ret this devotion to His Sacred Heart.

When the Catholic Church approved the devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the approval was not based solely on the visions of Saint Margaret Mary. The Church approved the devotion on its own merits. There is only one Person in Jesus, and that Person was at the same time God and Man. His Heart, too, is Divine -- it is the Heart of God.

There are two things that must always be found together in the devotion to the Sacred Heart: Christ's Heart of flesh and Christ's love for us. True devotion to the Sacred Heart means devotion to the Divine Heart of Christ insofar as His Heart represents and recalls His love for us.

In honoring the Heart of Christ, we become more aware of the fullness of His love. This love of Christ for us was the moving force of all he did and suffered for us -- in Nazareth, on the Cross, in giving Himself in the Blessed Sacrament, in His teaching and healing, in His praying and working.

Jesus Christ is the incarnation of God's infinite love. The Human Nature which the Son of God took upon Himself was filled with love and kindness that has never found an equal. He is the perfect model of love of God and neighbor which we are all called to imitate.

The love that Jesus bore toward us also urged Him to undergo death on the Cross for us. At the Last Supper, He said, “There is no greater love than to lay down one's life for one's friends.” (Jn 15:13) The Sacred Heart is a perpetual reminder to all of us of this greatest of all loves which Jesus has for us.

With the universal Church let us remember to honor the Sacred Heart of Jesus this month. Let us meditate upon the fact that Jesus’ Sacred Heart is the Heart of God; that God became flesh for us to save us; and that His Heart burns with love for us.

Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us!

Know of my prayers for you and for your families.

Vivat Jesus!

ONLY HAVING INSURANCE “Through Work” DOESN’T WORK.

Only Having Insurance “Through Work” Doesn’t Work

Do you know anyone whose life or career has drastically changed during these years of economic

downturn? It’s very likely that someone in your immediate or extended family or group of

friends is facing financial uncertainty. Maybe there’s a possibility that you (or your spouse) could

change employers, or even lose your job.

Too many people have often relied on group term life insurance as their only safety net. Often,

this insurance is an employee benefit provided at low or no cost. The existence of this coverage

might convince someone that personally-owned life insurance is not necessary.

But only having “through work” insurance can leave you and your family vulnerable. Most group

life insurance policies are limited in amount, which may be tied to salary or some other bench-

mark. These numbers are often capped, and this cap may be dangerously low when compared to

your family’s actual needs. In fact, a detailed needs analysis that evaluates your specific situa-

tion, will likely show that any employer-provided coverage falls short.

In addition, the amount of group insurance offered is almost always reduced, sometimes dramat-

ically, when you retire. You could one day find yourself without coverage, and if your health has

changed (which it will as you age), you might also find yourself unable to secure individual pro-

tection. At the very least, it will definitely be more expensive.

While group life insurance can help, it does not replace the need for individually owned life in-surance. I’ll be happy to meet with you and provide a no-cost needs analysis, so you’ll know ex-

actly where you stand.
