Adult Theology Classes Are you interested in learning more about our Catholic faith? Feel free to join our RCIA classes. Even if you’ve received confirma on, it’s a great way to delve more deeply into our faith, to enjoy some good discussion, and to meet fellow Catholics. You don’t need to enroll for the whole year—you can come to any or all classes that interest you. We just ask that you call the parish office ahead of me so that we can plan accordingly. All classes will take place at 32 Prince Street, and will run from 7pm to 8:30pm.

Responsorial Psalm PS 103:1-2, 3-4, 9-10, 11-12 R. The Lord is kind and merciful, slow to anger, and rich in compas-sion. Gospel MT 18:21-35 Peter approached Jesus and asked him, “Lord, if my brother sins against me, how o en must I forgive? As many as seven mes?” Jesus answered, “I say to you, not seven mes but seventy-seven

mes. That is why the kingdom of heaven may be likened to a king who decided to se le accounts with his servants. When he began the accoun ng, a debtor was brought before him who owed him a huge amount. Since he had no way of paying it back, his master ordered him to be sold, along with his wife, his children, and all his property, in payment of the debt. At that, the servant fell down, did him homage, and said, ‘Be pa ent with me, and I will pay you back in full.’ Moved with compassion the master of that servant let him go and forgave him the loan. When that servant had le , he found one of his fellow servants who owed him a much smaller amount. He seized him and started to choke him, demanding, ‘Pay back what you owe.’ Falling to his knees, his fellow servant begged him, ‘Be pa ent with me, and I will pay you back.’ But he refused. Instead, he had the fellow servant put in prison un l he paid back the debt. Now when his fellow servants saw what had happened, they were deeply disturbed, and went to their master and reported the whole affair. His master summoned him and said to him, ‘You wicked servant! I forgave you your en re debt because you begged me to. Should you not have had pity on your fellow servant, as I had pity on you?’ Then in anger his master handed him over to the torturers un l he should pay back the whole debt. So will my heavenly Father do to you, unless each of you forgives your brother from your heart.”

Are you interested in becoming Catholic? Were you bap zed, but never received First Communion or Confirma on?

RCIA is for you! The Rite of Chris an Ini a on of Adults is a year-long program that prepares people to receive all or some of the sacraments of ini a on (bap sm, confirma on, communion). The program offers a comprehensive study of the beliefs of the Catholic Church in a friendly and approachable se ng. Fr. Graebe or Fr. Jason will be leading each session, with topics that include the 10 commandments, the seven sacraments, prayer, scripture, the creed, and lots more. This program is open to anyone. Even if you have made your sacraments, this is a great opportunity to learn more about our faith. If you’re interested in par cipa ng, please email Fr. Graebe at [email protected], or call the parish office at (212) 226-8075.

A Message from Cardinal Dolan

As we embark on this new decade, together in faith, I invite us to remember the mission to which we are all called. It is the task of every genera on to take the faith that we’ve received and share it with others. This is what the Lord calls us to do: to teach, to serve, and to sanc fy the world, by pro-claiming the truth and making disciples of all na ons. This work is most effec vely accomplished through the ministry of the Church – in our parishes, our schools, our religious orders, our seminaries, and the many char-itable services that are designed to respond to the evolving needs of our communi es. This is the work that the Cardinal’s Annual Stewardship Appeal makes possi-ble through your generous dona ons. The works that are represented in the Cardinal’s Appeal make tangible the mission of the Church in our communi es at a me when – some might say – the world is most in need of such a witness. Please visit cardinalsappeal.org to make your gi . I thank you for your con nued support of the Cardinal’s Annual Stewardship Appeal.
