TIME magazine named Jean-Pierre Barral,
“one of the Top Healing Innovators to watch in the new Millennium.”
Jean-Pierre Barral, DO, MRO(F), RPT
Orthopaedic, Women/Men’s Health, Pediatric, Sports Medicine, General Wellness.
The Barral Institute is an international organization providing continuing education and certification based on the innovative therapies developed by world-renowned French Osteopath and Physical Therapist Jean-Pierre Barral, and French Osteopath Alain Croibier.
We offer 3-4 day lab-intensive seminars throughout the year across the U.S., Canada and internationally. The material is immediately applicable in any clinical setting as it bridges the needs of various patient populations.

COURSE DESCRIPTIONS / TUITION
Visceral Manipulation (VM) Developed by Jean-Pierre Barral, DO, MRO(F), PT
An integrative approach to evaluation and treatment of a patient requires assessment of the structural relationships between the viscera, and their fascial or ligamentous attachments to the musculoskeletal system. Strains in the connective tissue of the viscera can result from surgical scars, adhesions, illness, posture or injury. Tension patterns form through the fascial network deep within the body, creating a cascade of effects far from their sources for which the body will have to compensate. This creates fixed, abnormal points of tension that the body must move around, and this chronic irritation gives way to functional and structural problems.
CVTP CERTIFICATION PROGRAM INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING SEMINARS (VM1-VM4)
Abdomen 1 (VM1), Abdomen 2 (VM2)The Pelvis (VM3), The Thorax (VM4)
CVMP CERTIFICATION PROGRAM INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING SEMINARS (VM5-VM6)
Manual Thermal Evaluation & Intro to VisceroEmotional (VM5)VisceroEmotional Relationships (VM6)
“This will change how I practice PT and look at Ortho!” - K. Hellenbrand, MPT
“Expands the approach to the whole person. More effective perspective than a lot of manual courses.” - M. Jordan, DPT
“Within 5 days (after VM1) I worked with 14 clients and integrated VM1 into every session. I worked with a client who had her mastectomy surgery a few years ago who had issues with extension of the trunk and arm. Within the first ten minutes it resolved. A lot of women had C-sections with complications post-surgery, and movement and discomfort were relieved. VM1 has fueled my fire to learn so much more.” - K. Lewis, LMT
Tuition in US dollars. Some cities subject to surcharges.
ADDITIONAL PROGRAMS OFFERED BY THE BARRAL INSTITUTE
Neural Manipulation (NM)NM examines mechanical relationships between the cranium/spine hard frame, and the dural and neural elements. It provides assessment and treatment approaches to address restrictions of the dural and neural components not commonly focused on with musculoskeletal symptoms. NM identifies and releases local nerve restrictions while at the same time examining the effect these local fixations have on the rest of the body, and by accessing this relationship, resolves the more
comprehensive (global) dysfunctional patterns.
New Manual Articular Approach (MAA)MAA applies a comprehensive approach to the treatment of joints. It integrates all aspects of the joint including the nerve, artery, bone, capsule, and ligaments, as well as visceral and emotional connections.

Linking Visceral, Neural and Articular Dysfunctions
As you explore the world of articular dysfunctions, you will discover
a definite link between the somatic structures of the joint and the
nervous system and the visceral system. Within the nervous system,
the proprioceptors drive our movement without thought. In fact,
they are designed as our 6th sense. Within the visceral system,
the organs and their attachments can influence the pressure,
load, joint orientation, as well as range and rate of movement of
musculoskeletal articulations. Joints have a dynamic sensitivity to
changing tensions in the body. Learn how the interconnectiveness
of visceral, neural and articular dysfunctions affects the whole body.
I invite you to explore how the manual techniques developed by
Jean-Pierre Barral recreate, harmonize and increase proprioceptive
communication in the body to enhance its
internal mechanism for better health throughout
all of these systems.

First Course in VM ProgramABDOMEN 1: ORGAN-SPECIFIC FASCIAL MOBILIZATION (VM1)$595 60-day pre-registration; $695 30-day pre-registration; $795 standard
In VM1 you will study the models and theories of functional biomechanics as viewed from Barral’s innovative approach.
• Understand how VM can assist functional and structural imbalances throughout the body including musculoskeletal, vascular, nervous, urogenital, respiratory, digestive and lymphatic dysfunction.
• Explore the dynamics of motion and suspension in relation to organs, fascia, membranes and ligaments.
• Learn invaluable manual “Listening Techniques” developed by Jean-Pierre Barral to locate, evaluate and normalize primary areas of dysfunction within the abdominal cavity.
• Assess the quality of functional activity and somatic structures as they relate to an overall pattern.
