God is always
available to help
us, if we call on
Him in prayer This past Wednesday night, we began a Bible study based on the “War Room” movie. It is called “The Battle Plan of Prayer.” We looked at the introduction on our first night, so you are not behind. Come join us to see the impor-tance of prayer. You may want to get a book to read in advance to add to the study. Prayer can be a powerful weapon but not if we don’t use it. I hope to see you on Wednesdays. Right now we are meeting in the TEL Sunday School room. Let’s create a good problem and discover that the room is too small. Be in prayer for all of the up-coming events: Valentine’s Ban-quet, THE WKND16, Easter Mu-sical, Associational Revival, D-KIDS, the Mission Trip to Nicara-gua, Summer Camps and anything else I forgot. Prayer can also be offered for individuals who are experiencing different circumstances. Some may be to rejoice with them, while other prayers may be to share a burden. Our prayers can become selfish, but that doesn’t mean that we don’t pray for our-selves. We need our Lord’s help with every thing that we do. For-tunately for us, He is always available to help us, but do we call in prayer?
In Christ’s Love,
Bro. Travis
REGISTER NOW FOR
THEWKND16 Students in grades 6-12 can register for THE WKND16, (formerly D-NOW) a special discipleship weekend set for March 4-6 at First Baptist Church of Eupora. “THE WKND16 is an opportu-nity for growth in the heart of believers and offers the great privilege of the lost being saved,” said Rev. Travis Gray,
pastor of First Baptist Church of Eupora. “It can offer an environ-ment to young people to help them be prepared to face what the world throws at them. I en-courage you to be praying for those who will be attending.” “The theme for THEWKND16 is a barcode,” said FBC Eupora Students Minister Kevin Barnette. “Usually we use bar-codes to determine what the item is and how much it cost. As be-lievers, we have been marked by the Holy Spirit as being children
of God. Whenever someone scans us they should see Christ, not the world.” The theme verse will be Ephe-sians 1:13, "In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salva-tion, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit."
Students can sign up at the connect table in the student cen-ter or by calling the church of-fice. Registration ends Feb. 17. The cost is $30 and it will cover food, t-shirts, and other necessi-ties for the entire weekend. There will be a detailed list of things to bring a little closer to the event. There will be a meeting Feb 17 after youth bible study to discuss preparations for the event. “My hope for the weekend is that it will be a time for our stu-dents to grow closer as a group,”
Barnette said. “For those that are a part of our church, we want to create an atmosphere that they are being discipled and chal-lenged through events like these!” Jon Caranna will be preaching Friday and Saturday night on the importance of the Holy Spirit in our lives. Caranna is the lead student pastor at Hillcrest Baptist Church in Pensacola, Fla. He, and his wife, Bobbie, are in the process of adopting a child right now and have lived in Pensacola for three years. Jon is originally from Gulfport. Matt Warren will be leading in worship throughout the weekend. He is a graduate of William Carey University and currently leads worship at The Venue in Hattiesburg. Missions is an important part of THE WKND16 and students will be able to choose from dif-ferent types of service projects around Eupora, from serving in the nursing homes to sharing the gospel door-to-door will be available for the students. For more information, contact Kevin Barnette.
