Dear St. Lucy Parishioners,
As many of you know, last April I took a three-month medical leave because of a heart condition. My cardiologist has been monitoring my condition and he has advised me to retire from administrative responsibilities and to find a more contemplative way of living my priestly vocation. For this reason I have decided that, once I complete my six-year term as pastor this July 1, I am going to move to Presentation Retreat Center in the Santa Cruz Mountains and serve as chaplain there.
If I were to remain in parish ministry, St. Lucy is definitely where I would want to stay. I love St. Lucy Parish and I feel very close to you parishioners. But I will not be far away, and I intend to contin-ue serving the local Church for the rest of my life, primarily through offering seminars, retreats, and spiritual direction.
I ask you please to pray that the Holy Spirit leads and guides the bishop as he seeks the right priest to take my place. In the meantime, I know that the Lord has good things ahead for you and for me and I pray his abundant blessings on all of you in this New Year.
Prayer Shawl Ministry

MEMORIAL MASS In loving memory of the deceased members of your family
St. Lucy Church Tuesday, January 27, 2014 @ 7:00 P.M.
We invite anyone whose loved one died during 2014 to email a picture of him/her to Katherine Petrucci at [email protected] or submit a picture to the Parish Office no later than Thursday,
January 22nd. These pictures will be included in a slide show at the Mass.
We’d like to give a BIG thank you to all of those that attended and that helped make our Life Teen Retreat possible. The theme this year was “Heroes” and the teens learned that to become a true hero you have to live a life of virtue. In the Catholic church we're blessed to have the example of the Saints whom were able to master at least one, if not all, of the seven virtues: Faith, Justice, Fortitude, Temperance, Prudence, Hope and Love. Our teens bonded and created a family-like relationship they will never forget. Despite the rain, we had a great time out in nature. The parents gave us a heroes’ welcome when we got back. Two teens, Luis C. and Kimberly P., gave a courageous witness talk at the 6pm mass when we got back about how they were truly touched by Je-sus. Thanks again to Fr. Kevin, Fr. Steve and our super volunteers for being a part of this retreat. The only com-plaint we received from the teens was that it wasn't long enough. Hope our upcoming summer retreat turns out just as fun!
