The Ascension of the Lord June 2, 2019 THE BANE AND THE BLESSED In the prayer that comes from the heart of Jesus to our heart, we are to ask the Father, “Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” Jesus doesn’t tell us to pray that we will escape from the earth, but that heaven and earth will come together. When the Gospels proclaim the Resurrection, they don’t exhort us to set our eyes on the beyond, and be heavenly minded. The command the Risen Jesus gives to his followers is “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations.” (Matthew 28:19) His command is to “Go into all the world and proclaim the good news to the whole creation.” (Mark 16:15). At Mass, just before we join the angels in heaven singing the Sanctus (Holy! Holy1 Holy!) the priest says, “May our voices join with theirs in one chorus of exultant praise.” With the angels we sing that glorious truth that in Christ heaven and earth are reconciled. In the Ascension of Christ we ascend to heaven, and in the birth of Christ and the descending of the Holy Spirit, heaven comes to earth. At the end of each Mass, we are told “Go!” Go into the world and proclaim the marriage of heaven and earth. Go into the world and get to work being Jesus’ witnesses “In Jerusalem, all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” (Acts 1:8) Go, and be Church! For heaven’s sake. The Lord be with you. We will have another meeting for our Elizabeth Ministry committee on Tuesday, June 18th at 6:30 pm in the gathering place. Elizabeth Ministry is an outreach program for women to affirm, support, encourage,

and assist women in response to their needs during their childbearing years. If you would like to be a part of this vital ministry, simply come to this meeting. Please call or email Carol Reider in the parish office if you have any questions. Thank you. See you on the 18th!

Jesus used words to heal. Words are the means through which you reach out to your spouse to give encouragement, to praise, to compliment, and to give advice. The words you use and the

tone of voice with which you deliver them affect your spouse. With your words you can hurt, and you can heal. Are you aware of your tone of voice when you speak to your spouse? John Bosio – Happy Together: the Catholic

Please remember, the sick, hospitalized, military members, homebound and anyone needing of our prayers.

May they experience the healing power of God.

WHEN REQUESTING THAT AN INDIVIDUAL BE ADDED TO OUR PRAYER LIST, YOU MUST HAVE THE CONSENT OF THE INDIVIUDAL OR THEIR FAMILY FOR

THEIR NAME TO BE PUBLICIZED. ALSO, PLEASE REMEMBER TO INFORM US WHEN SOMEONE SHOULD BE TAKEN OFF THE LIST.

Thank you to everyone for your ongoing support of our Food Pantry! In the past four weeks, we have served 157 families. Along with the Postal Drive, we have also received donations from Holmen Middle School, Riverland Energy, the High School Spanish and French Club, Holmen Park and Rec, and the Holmen track team. We appreciate each and every one of these donations as each helps us fill the needs of the families that come here each Tuesday and Friday morning. Thanks also to all our volunteers…those who fill the totes, those who go to Kwik Trip to pick up donations, and those who are here on Tuesday and Friday morn-ings to help distribute the food to our guests. Our Food Pantry relies upon a large number of volunteers…many of them behind the scenes…and we are so grateful for each and every one. Our current needs include cereal, pasta sauces, and canned meats. God bless you for your generosity and for seeing the face of Christ in our neighbors.

MISSION COOP

Bishop Robert Flock will be joining us the weekend of June 15/16 for the Mission Coop.

On my 60th Birthday, Nov. 4th 2016, Pope Francis named me Bishop of the Diocese of San Ignacio de Velasco. I was installed on Feb. 2nd 2017. In my first year I put nearly 50,000 kilometers on my vehicle in the process of visiting the communities of this extensive Diocese in eastern Bolivia, covering 197,000 square kilometers, which makes it 16% larger than the state of Wisconsin. Our vast territory combined with the poverty of the majority of the population obliges the Diocese to subsidize our 35 priests and 25 parishes, most of which have 10 to 20 additional communities, often at considerable distance over unpaved roads. We also maintain some 43 Catholic schools, accounting for 40% of the student population. To help cover expenses we operate cattle ranches and develop urbanizations, but our needs are far greater than the funds we can generate. We are blessed with a population about 90% Catholic, fruit of the initial evangelization by Jesuit Missionaries (1691-1767), and later Franciscans (1930-1994), beautiful mission churches declared UNESCO World Heritage sites in 1990, (Google Jesuit Missions Chiquitos), and tremendous natural beauty in this tropical Amazonian part of Bolivia. Your generosity and prayer will help us to continue to face the challenges of evangelization and pastoral care of this portion of God´s people. Bishop Robert H. Flock Diocese of San Ignacio de Velasco

(Please make checks payable to your local parish)

Expecting parents, the next Baptism class is Monday, July 15 at 6:30 pm. Parents, this session is an opportunity for you to enrich, deepen, and strengthen your Catholic Faith – the Faith you are asking to have your child brought into at the celebration of their

baptism. Unless there is an emergency, parents are required to attend our Baptism session before each child is presented for baptism. Therefore, if you are pregnant, now is the time for you to register for class. To register, call Sr. Bridget at the parish or RSVP online at: www.seasholmen.org. God bless you!

Losing one's partner, one's soul mate, one's spouse or a child "demands" the greatest inner strength one can apply, and it requires the help and wisdom of fellow grief travelers. The next

meeting for SEAS Good Mourning Ministry is Monday, June 3 at 1:00. All are welcome to join for any or all of our gatherings. Contact Sister Bridget or Carol at the parish office if you have any questions.

The funeral of Michael Smaby, son of Joanne Greene, was celebrated at SEAS on Friday, May, 31, 2019. Please keep Michael and his family

in your prayers. May he rest in peace.

Please join us in making cards to mail to our home-bound parishioners. We will meet on Monday, June 17th at 9am in the gathering place. No experience necessary. Please bring your own scissors. (Shari Ireland will guide us through the process). This is a significant way to share your love with those in our church family that you don't see regularly. Thank you for helping us to reach out to our homebound church family with expressions of love and remembrance.
