NEXT FLYER DEADLINE: Friday November 24thCONTACT JON SMITH Tel 01833 621374 or email [email protected]
CHRISTMAS GREETINGS: The Flyer will be carrying its usual festive greetings in the next issue, out at the beginning of December. If you’d like to wish all your friends and neighbours in the area a happy Christmas, let us know by November 24th at the latest – contact details are below. The cost per ad is £5, and all proceeds go to charity.MILBANK ARMS: Barningham village hall was packed on Tuesday night (October 24) when the Parish Meeting met to discuss Barningham Estate’s plans to re-model and extend the Milbank Arms as part of a scheme to create a wedding venue in the grounds of Barningham Park. Al-though most present agreed that something had to be done if the pub was to survive, concerns were raised about the scheme’s viability, loss of the building’s historic character, noise, traffic and housing, which Sir Edward and Lady Natalie Milbank attempted to allay. Details of the plans are on the Durham County Council website. Deadline for comments and objections is November 13th.THE BONFIRE is NOT a place to dump unsuitable and possibly carcinogenic items such as tyres, mattresses, foam or anything containing metal or other non-flammable material. Take them to the tip – or Durham County Council will collect unwanted household goods on request (£15 for up to six items). We understand the bonfire will be lit at around 6pm on Sunday 5th. 100 CLUB WINNERS: August 1 Steve Grinter 2 Lisa Hockham 3 John Prytherick; September 1 Jane Longfield 2 Sheila Hay 3 Steve Riddell; October 1 Liz Hunt 2 Angela Delahooke 3 Jill Collyer.BARNINGHAM BINS: Collection dates: rubbish Wednesdays November 1, 15 & 29, recycling Wednesdays November 8 & 22.
