Hi CSS members,

We have a special opportunity to see a great car collection that belongs to Tom Malloy who isthe owner of Trench Shoring Co.

Tom Malloy was introduced to racing as a child by his dad Emmett J. Malloy who owned twoopen wheel race cars and built and owned Carrell Speedway in Gardena, California, and who in thenext couple of weeks will be inducted into the Sprint Car Hall of Fame.

Tom has been lucky enough to have shown and raced his cars all over the United States, andeven foreign countries such as England, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and France.

Now Corvette Super Sports has a unique opportunity to see this personal collection on June 9,2018 at 9 a.m. in Corona. There will be a slight admission fee collected at the door: $10 for men, andwomen and children are admitted free of charge.

There will be a sign up at the next general meeting for those who want to go. More details willbe forth coming. This promises to be an exciting event.

PresidentTony

We are almost into April which means one quarter of theyear is behind us. As Wayne will report, we have a fullmonth of events in April. Make sure all of you look theseevents over and make plans to attend one or more.

The Club will be voting for a new Secretary at our April 3rd

meeting to replace Burt Wiest. Bert is one of the mostorganized persons I know. Dianne and Bert will be missed. Thanks to both of them for their hard work and loyalty to theClub.

An auto related story that most people haven’t heard aboutis the destruction of a lot of automobiles as the result ofHurricane Harvey, when it went through Houston Texas lastyear. Houston was hit with 52 inches of rain. Up to a millioncars were destroyed by the flooding. Dealerships saved thebest classics, but most cars were all lost.

McRee Ford saved the owner’s 1965 Mustang Convertibleand some GT350s Ford Motor Company insisted that allwater-soaked cars be crushed – all 450 of them. Some carswould start and run but all the warning lights came on andwould require a lot of time and money to get them back onthe road.

Ferraris, a Rolls-Royce Phantom, Teslas, Porches and otherexotics were victims of water.

Of the ten Chevrolet dealers in Houston, how may Corvettesdo you suppose were lost? Hundreds! (This info was copiedin part from “Car and Driver” magazine.)

Running for Secretary

When we joined this club over a year ago, Ithought what a bunch of friendly, nice people. Wehave been to almost all the meeting since wejoined but, we have not been able to participatewith many of the outings. The few that we havebeen able to go on have been so much fun. Iknow that I have not gotten to know many of you,so I wanted to let you know a little bit about me.

I've been working for 50 years. Anything that I putmy mind to, I do with full conviction and wanteverything to be perfect. I'm kind of anal aboutthat too! I worked as a Hairdresser for 16 yearsafter high school, but wanted something a littlemore structured and joined corporate America. Iworked for a big telecommunications companyand was constantly approached to take on morefunctions that would benefit other departments. Iwas sent to a weeklong school to become afacilitator for the office meetings. I was also askedto take notes for other department meetings. Inthe 15 years there, I worked my way up in thecompany. I started in the training department thenbecame Supervisor of our dispatch department. Ithen became Manager of the West CoastContracts department. Finishing up as a ProjectManager to many high profile customers. Some ofmy accounts were Costco, Nextel and the St. ofArizona. I was responsible in making all the phonesystems across the country and state installed thesame. I joined Bill in our company 12 years ago.Our business was growing and he needed a righthand woman. That was me. We run a verysuccessful manufacturing company.

I am detail orientated. Dedicated. A team player.

Marge Huhta

Running for Secretary

I volunteered to run for secretary because I wantto help the club. I served 2 1/2 years as CSS trea-surer and co-chaired several car shows at Con-nell. I also served on the board of directors of anational non-profit corporation as CFO and over-saw a multi-million dollar budget. As a retired ele-mentary school teacher I know how to keepaccurate notes and detailed records for CSS.

Thank you,Marge

A Fond Farewell

11 years ago Dianne and I joined the Corvette Super Sports family. We were immediately and warmlyaccepted into the fold and have loved every minute of it. We have been privileged to serve and beserved by this wonderful club. We have been through meetings, car shows, road trips, shooting, carwaxing days, miniature golf tournaments and every other type of imaginable activity. We have brokenbread together, cried together and laughed together. But, as you are aware, our plans are to movecloser to family. We have accepted an offer on our home and have made one that has beenaccepted.

Therefore, in order to allow the club to identify, nominate and elect a new secretary, it is with a heavyheart that I tender my resignation as Secretary of Corvette Super Sports effective immediately. Welove you all, will miss you all, and our door will always be open to any who wish to visit.

Never lose what you have here; it’s priceless.

NCCC PRESIDENT’s MESSAGEMarch 2018

March is the start of spring and things happening in the Corvette world. As the weather begins to warm westart to bring out the Corvettes more and more. Drive-outs start, cruises start, and “cars and coffee” eventshappen which have become a very popular thing to do on Saturday mornings. All kinds of cars attend theseevents, usually beginning around 7 AM and over by 10 AM. This is a great way to meet and make new friends.

If we only had more time to do all the things we would like to do? Did you know that most of us live an “eightday week”? When I was younger I use to say my mother played golf eight days a week. She was always onthe golf course chasing that little ball. The Beatles sang a song about “eight days a week”.

The eight days a week are: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, andSOMEDAY! Is our life so busy that we put things off many times until SOMEDAY? What are we missing? Whathave we NOT done we would have liked to?

SOMEDAY is kind of like later on….or tomorrow. I remember years ago walking into a bar and the sign said:“drinks are free tomorrow”. Trouble is tomorrow never comes because returning the next day, their “drinks arefree” again “tomorrow”.

The great tragedy in life is that SOMEDAY is never part of any week. SOMEDAY never comes at all.Because SOMEDAY never comes, many of the wonderful things in life are missed and never experienced!

The members of NCCC are some of the best of the best people in this world. Many clubs and their membersplan and host all kinds of events from meetings, drive-outs, dinner cruises, cars and coffees, car shows, rallies, autocrosses, parades, conventions, tours, and a host of other events too many to list. Within this group we getto know each other and become friends who care about each other. NCCC is a special caring group ofmembers.

So, what do you plan to do SOMEDAY, or tomorrow, or later? I have said it before; each of us only has somuch TIME to spend. We can always get more money, more cars, eat more, sleep more, and sit around more.We can never get more TIME or health.

I encourage you to get involved, look at your club calendar, check out the national event calendar, and findsomething to do with your time, your Corvette, and your life. When it’s over…. it is over, there is no turningback. Make the most of what we have NOW and enjoy all you can. It is kind of like sunbathing: you can’t getvery tan in the night. You have to tan in the daytime, unless you have your own tanning bed.

The third month of 2018 is here. Make the most of your time doing something on the “EIGHTH DAY OF THEWEEK”! I know for sure you will enjoy it making memories.

Take care, be safe, call a friend, hug someone, tell someone you love them, and life will be better foryou. And always be thankful for what you have.

God Bless you all!

2018 Car Show Update from our new Chairmen,

Brian and Brad

March 2018

Happy April everyone!

The Car Show Team would like to share the latest and greatest developments with you.

First, as always, thank you for trusting us and lending your support. The Car Show is a great event and something CSSshould be proud to put their name on. It is our goal to develop a great event which you will take pride in supporting.

We have been in regular communications with The Buena Park Downtown (BP Downtown) owners. They are working ontheir end to secure the Sears Parking lot, as well as, the parking lot to the South East. We are anxiously awaiting theirdecision and guidelines so we may move forward with the next steps. We will continue to push for the Sears’ lot as ourprimary choice.

The Car Show Committee meets every month on the Thursday preceding the General Meeting. I apologize for theconfusion, but please note the dates were changed. If you were not given the dates or missed the minutes, please notethe following:

3/29/20184/26/20185/31/20186/28/20188/2/20188/30/20189/13/20189/27/2018

All at 7:00 pm at Tony and Laura’s place

Please come and share your feedback and ideas. Remember this is your show - and Brad and I are the facilitators toensuring your expectations are met to the best of our ability.

Open items needing your feedback are whether we want to host an ALL CORVETTE SHOW or AN ALL AMERICAN CARSHOW. I have received feedback supporting both types of events. Here are some of the comments for yourconsideration:

1. An ALL CORVETTE SHOW highlights the Corvette and represents our club best2. The Corvette is a unique car that is not like other muscle car genres, and therefore should have its own show3. The ALL AMERICAN show may bring more variety of cars and potentially reach more people to attend4. An ALL CORVETTE SHOW may not have the draw- meaning that we won’t have a lot of cars in attendance =

low turnout

Again, there are no bad ideas or bad feedback that you can share. All ideas and feedback helps improve the show.

Although we have 6 months to go, we need to get this event moving forward with some solid decisions being made. So, Ihope to hear from many of you soon! Thank you again for your support, guidance, feedback, team work, and positivity.

In any project the important factor is your belief. Without belief, there can be no successful outcome.--- William James

Where You Can Find Corvette Parts and Merchandise

For those of you who have been into Corvettes for awhile most – or all – of the following will not be news toyou, but for you relative newcomers to the love of Vettes this offering is being made to help you find the partsyou may need for your classic or the trim add-ons you might want to buy to personalize your Vette or theclothing, gear, etc. you might like to own to show others of your interest in the sport.

It’s amazing just how many publications are out there that are dedicated to Corvettes and how helpful many ofthem can be. Following is a list and quick summary of the more popular catalogs that you might want to lookinto. Most of them are available for routine periodic mailing if you request it, and most of them have a web sitefrom which you can peruse their offerings. Me, I prefer to receive the catalogs so that I can better see justwhat’s out there I might not have not seen before.

The three largest, most popular catalogs with the most items that are non-“parts” are:

a. Mid America Motorworks, www.mamotorworkscom, (800) 500-1500;b. Eckler’s Corvette, www.ecklersCorvette.com, (800) 327-4868;c. Corvette America, www.CorvetteAmerica.com, (800) 458-3475.

Those publications periodically also publish catalogs geared specifically for a single generation of Corvettes sowhen they ask you for the year and model you drive don’t be afraid to tell them.

Then there are catalogs that are almost exclusively for parts, especially of older model Corvettes:

a. Volunteer Vette Products, www.volvette.com, (865) 521-9100;b. J & D Corvette, www.jdcorvette.com, (800) 838-8353 (located locally in Bellflower, CA).

For trim and accessory items as well as clothes, furniture and the like, you should look at:

a. Corvette Central, www.CorvetteCentral.com, (800) 345-4122. They have an accessories catalog and aseparate catalog of parts, etc., for each generation of Corvettes.

b. Burston Marketing’s Corvette Collection, www.CorvetteCollection.com, (800) 653-1375.c. And finally, the catalog from the retail store at the National Corvette Museum,

www.CorvetteMuseum.org, (800) 538-3883.

In addition to the above, you might also consider visiting the show rooms of Corvette Mike’s at 1133 NorthTustin Avenue and West Coast Corvettes, 1210 N. Kraemer Blvd., both are located near each other inAnaheim just off the 91 freeway in Anaheim. They have a selection of GM authorized accessories and clothesfor sale, as well as an indoor Corvette sales room with used road gems. Both also maintain servicedepartments for installing accessories and the like and for general maintenance of Corvettes. West CoastCorvettes has a new catalog that was just released and is available for pick-up at the store. (Price ispre-printed on each catalog as $12.95, but don’t be fooled, they’re free - just ask for one.)
