STAYING CONNECTED BETWEEN THE PAST AND PRESENT 9 The Alumni Marching Band arrived during dinner and almost blew the roof off of Columbia Manor. This group has been playing together for about 40 years. Give them a call and invite them to your reunion! Thanks go out to the many people that helped to put the tournament on again this year, including the Edison Baseball team. They helped golfers with their bags and conducted the “Closest to the Pin” contest on hole #3. Special thanks to Jerry and Audrey Kondrak ’ 58, Arnie ‘56 and Marilyn Lubrecht ’58, Doug ‘57 and Nancy Tanner ’58, John ‘58 and Darlene Vandermyde , Julie (Milewski) Carter ‘76, Jane (Milewski) Hill ‘76, Peter Harris ’89,Beth Fairley ’82, Mary (Sedesky) Dalbec ’75, John Lawson, ’82, Bernie Kunza ‘72, Lynn (Johnson) Miskowic ’73, Polly (Warhol) Stave ’73, David Salzar, coach & teacher at Edison, Bob Erickson ’59, Steve Varichak ’73, Anita Monette ’58, Bev Warren ’58, Joanne Rau ’58, Jerry Hinderman ’58, Dick Myslajek ’58, Ed Kocon ’58, Rick Eskola ’73, Mike Iacarella ’76, Pete Martin ‘58 just to mention quite a few. The Art Solz / Frank Rog Memorial Golf Tournament! We packed Columbia Golf Course with Tommies & Friends and made nearly $25K for scholarships! On what could be described as the perfect day for a golf tournament, we “SOLD OUT” Columbia Golf Course with 144 golfers to take part in the 33 rd Annual ECSF Golf Tournament. The generosity of the community was outstanding, the Pig Roast meal catered by Divine Swine was enjoyed by all, help of the Edison Students was appreciated, and organizing done by many volunteers was excellent! This year’s Golf Tournament produced a record number of Sponsors (see Sponsor Thank You list in this Newsletter). Again, Bob Nehotte ’48 was generous with a $2000 sponsorship. We had a number of Pro Sponsors ($1000). Businesses sponsored the tournament as well as some Edison Alumni that bought family sponsorships and class sponsors. We encourage more classes to do this next year! Carlson Toyota of Coon Rapids provided a $20,000 Hole-in- One contest (So close Rob Godava, so close!). With all the help and support, including golfers, sponsors, the silent auction and raffle, we came close to raising $25,000 for scholarships for Edison students. Scholarship criterion is that recipients must be good students that also participate in the life of the school and community. Over the past 34 years, the ECSF has awarded almost 275 scholarships totaling approximately $800,000. This has had a huge impact on the life of these young people. Not only with the financial help, but also with the feeling of support they receive from their school! It becomes something to live up to and eventually give back. The Edison band ensemble called “Harmony Bridge,” and directed by Lesley Earles, played the Fight song Edison Blue/Gold. Mike Levine the developer of Harmony Bridge joined in on trombone and Doug Schmitt from Schmitt Music on Tuba. Jerry Kondrak, Arnie Lubrecht, John Vandermyde with Bob Nehotte's (48) Sponsor Banner
