TRIPURA (2011 78min) Tripura is a story of Destruction, a destruction of the material or gross ambitions as represented by powerful cities of the asura clan. These are destroyed by Shiva at the end of the mighty adventure in a ironic twist that the cities are designed and created by a great asura devotee of Shiva, the sorcerer and architect Mayasur or just Maya. Maya is the main protagonist along with his wards the three orphaned asura princes he raises to be model kings for the asura civilization. But the ambition and ego of the brothers cannot be held back and they turn antagonistic to him after they have attained power and prosperity. They turn their back on the values inculcated by Maya and prefer to go back to warlike ways to assert themselves. The devas who are the guardians of the universe by virtue of their dedication to service have to fight a massive battle to keep them in check.

The three forces give the asuras and devas an animated battleground to sort their differences.Directed by Chetan Sharma, Director andCo-founder, Animagic Studios, Tripura was awarded the FICCI BAF Award forBest Animated Feature Film Direct toDVD, competing against national and international animation films .

Writer, Designer & Director:Chetan Sharma is an award winning animator and co-founder & director of Animagic, one of India’s most reputed independent animation studios.A self taught artist, he started in animation at the age of 15 and has become one of India’s champions of 2d animation. His studios commitment to making original content has given Indian animation some of its finest and most diverse award winning films.

Recipient of the 2005 National Award as Best Animator from the President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam for his work in the acclaimed short film “Raju & I” (2003), winner of 15 National & International Awards including the Unicef Campania Regiona Prize at Cartoons by the bay, Italy, the Alan Fortunoff Foundation Humanitarian Award at the Long Island Film Festival, ASIFA India’s Award of Excellence 2004, the Audience choice- Best short film Award at the Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles (IFFLA), 2005.His work on the design & storyboarding of the Cannes Silver winning Happydent & Xbox 360 TV Commercials and Bollywood Feature Films: Mission Kashmir (2000) and Eklavya (2007, India’s official entry to the Academy awards 2007) for which he also designed and animated a 3 min long Title/prologue sequence has been acclaimed widely. He has illustrated over a dozen children’s books the most popular being those for ‘Karadi Tales’ series which won the coveted Parents choice award

Tripura is his first feature length film. He is currently developing Animagic’s in-development theatrical features as well working on three graphic novels.

The studio: Animagic Began in 1997 as a three member group by Chetan Sharma, Gayatri and Sumant Rao with nothing but a belief in their potential to create great animation, has created a sterling reputation for the topnotch quality and depth of its work in India.

From graphics, animation and special effects in commercials, corporate films, feature films, titles for film and television, visualization and preproduction design for both ads and features, to Illustration and design, children’s books, educational textbooks, the studio has expanded its creative outreach to many different avenues often setting new standards of excellence and winning many awards for their work in advertising and film. Along with these commercial projects, the Studio always balanced projects like short films in order to grow and finds its own voice in the medium of Animation. From the first fully cel animated music video to socially relevant issue based shorts, these films have won critical recognition won many awards all over the world including UNICEF Regione Campania Prize at Cartoons On the Bay 2004, The IFFLA Audience Choice Award for Best Short Film, Best Animation film at the New York Independent Film Festival, The Allan Fortunoff Humanitarian Film Award at the Long Island Film Festival and the National Award in 2005 ,rewarding their belief in making films of lasting value.
