Suicide Ganking

No doubt you will have heard of this. This is the most known

form of ganking, and the most used. Put simply, this is when you

attack another ship, in the hope that you will destroy it before

CONCORD blows you up. There are several factors deciding

where you do this, and in what. Firstly, several obvious points:

- The lower the security status of the system, the slower

the CONCORD response time is.

CONCORD RESPONSE TIMES

That is why nearly all Suicide Ganks take place in 0.5-0.6

systems, due to the extra 10-5 seconds you have to kill your

target. The lower the system’s security rating, the less Security

status you lose when you attack someone.

So what types of ship should you use? Well, there are several ways

people suicide gank. The best shiptype will be listed in each type of

suicide ganking. Several key tips however:

1) Overheat weapons. You won’t use them for long, and 15% more dps

can make alot of difference.

2) Fit for a buffer tank. You want to survive as long as possible.

These are all approximations,

the time CONCORD takes does

vary slightly.

Security Status

Suicide Ganking for Profit

This is certainly one of the most profitable activities in-game. Doing this, is guaranteed to

get you a huge amount of isk, but at the expense of your security rating (Nothing a bit of

ratting cannot fix)

Hauler Ganking

For this you need someone to actually shoot the target, and an alt/buddy to scoop up the

loot after. I would generally suggest a Battlecruiser for this, due to their better scan

resolution and speed. However, that does not mean you should not sue a Battleship-

however you can destroy most haulers easily with a Battlecruiser, although you can use a

Battleship to get Transport Ships.

Firstly, get yourself a ship. Insure it to 100%. Fit Cheap named guns, and named damage

mods. Have about 15 ammo rounds per gun, definitely faction. For the rest:

Med Slots

1x MWD (So you can quickly get in optimal range)

1x Ship Scanner & Cargo Scanner (So you can see what the target has fitted, and in its cargo)

For the rest, fit T1 Large Shield Extenders and Invulnerability fields, also T1, for Shield-

tanking ships. For Armour-Tanking ships, you can still fit Shield Extenders, or fit Target

Painters, to make it easier to hit the target. Don’t forget a warp disruptor, of course.

Low Slots

3x Damage Modules (Lots and Lots of dps)

1x Damage Control (Raises your EHP considerably)

For the rest of the low slots, fit an armour buffer tank, with 1600mm Plates and ENAMs, do

this too if you are a shield tanker. For drones, I suggest sentries, as they shoot immediately.

Your hauler buddy/alt should fit an Afterburner, and a good tip is to fit it with ship scanners

too, and leave it at another gate, so you can watch haulers going through that gate too.

How to?

1) Once you have insure and fitted your ship, find a good system (Pipe systems are the best),

and camp the gate. Have your guns ready to fire on overheat, with your damage control and

any other active defence modules on. When you find a target, you will have very little time

to think about activating them.

2) Target and scan any haulers that pass through. The ship scanner always finishes first, so

peek at what the hauler has fitted. If it has fitted Shield Extenders/Invul Fields, I would

suggest not going for it, as that raises their EHP above what most Battlecruisers can deal out

in the time you get. Once you have seen the hauler’s fitting, look at what the hauler is

carrying. If the hauler is warping off, you will have very little time to estimate the value of it

all, so for this you must rely on a quick decision before they get away. However, if the

hauler has autopilot-warped to the gate at 15km, you have more time to evaluate it, and

probably have time to look at the market to check its value.

3) Once you find a target...

shoot it. Not too hard.

The moment you shoot the

hauler, you hauler buddy

should immediately Burn to the

soon-to-be-wreck. Once it is

down, he loots it. You blow up,

he loots your ship, and you are

much, much richer than you

were a minute ago. Well Done.

One example fit shows what

your setup should look like (For

different race ships, all that

changes is gun type)

Freighter Ganking

For this, you need a fair-sized corporation. Doing this follows the same steps as hauler

ganking, except you need to bring a ludicrous amount of dps to take down a freighter in 20

seconds. And a freighter pilot to scoop up the loot. The least number of battleships needed

(If they are all Domis with the below fit)

Is..... Just 7. That’s right. You only need 7 Domis to kill a freighter in 0.5 Sec Space; However I

would use above 10, just to be safe. (EHP of freighter is 175K, Kill time is 25 Seconds,

Calculated to be 7’000 dps needed per second, therefore 7 seconds needed)

And Freighter do tend to carry alot of shiny stuff- If

each Battleship used cost 5 Mil (after insurance)

That would be about 50 Mil lost of 10 battleships,

but so many freighters carry billions and billions of

isk in cargo, making a huge profit for each

participant. This can make even more isk than

hauler ganking most of the time.

Suicide Ganking for fun

So you do this for teh lolz?

Hulk Ganking

You probably have heard of the ‘Hulkageddon’ event. This is the same tactic used by many

of the participants of that great event.

1) Get a destroyer, the best is the Catalyst (Gallente) Using a fit similar to this:

You will however, need at least 2 friends in similar fits for this. Your firepower alone cannot

take down a hulk, as its EHP is near 11K, and with 25 seconds to spare with this setup, you

can only achieve just over 7K damage in total.

To find a target hulk, go to a 0.5 sec system with alot of belts, and warp around looking for

some. Once you have found one (try to get ones that look like they are macro’s, I hate ‘em)

get all your buddies to warp to you at 0m (You should be next to the Hulk at this time) Once

you are all ready, kill it. One more kick in the balls of the macro industry.

Smartbomb Ganking

This is one of the most fun thing in eve. Total Mass WTFBBQPWN destruction of innocents.

The reason for the EMP -> Kinetic -> Explosive Layout is so that as you press F1 to F8, you

firstly do massive damage to shields, hopefully taking them down, Kinetic as it is ok at both

(So if the shields of targets are still up, they might go down with the kinetic SB) And then

Explosive, to rip apart Armor and Hull. A good option is to have sentry drones that you can

deploy outside your Smartbombing zone, to pick random targets off while you’re at it.

You can smartbomb targets at busy stations such as Jita 4-4, Or a mining group huddling

around an orca or a can (Mostly at ice belts).

A sneaky way to get alot of pod kills, albeit slightly expensive, is this:

You get into the cheapest faction cruiser you can find. (Or battleship, to get a bigger crowd)

Fit it with smartbombs. Warp to Planet 1, and call out in local, something along the lines of:

‘I’m going to eject from my *faction ship here* at Planet 1 in 5 minutes, first one to board it,

keeps it!’

Now wait for the mass of pods to approach your ship, at 0m (At this time you should be

giggling in anticipation) once enough pods have got to you, let it rip. A friend of mine did

this in a Navy Mega, and collected about 70 pod kills in Jita.

Mission Runner Ganking

This is incredibly fun, but requires some considerable skill at deceiving your victim. The first

thing you need to do is to make the mission runner aggro you, but of course that won’t

happen if they know about it. You do need an alt/buddy who is not in your corp for this, but

It is much easier if it is your alt. You can have backup, but only if they are in your corp.

1) Get yourself into a regular pvp fitted battleship. I would recommend active tank, as only

one person can possibly fire back at you, but orient more towards dps. Try to use damage

types that the local mission rats do not use, e.g. With Guristas, do not use Therm/Kinetic

damage, as your victim will be tanked for that. Fit one or two Energy Neutralisers if possible,

if the targets tank is too strong, it won’t be long till it dies. Funnily enough, Marauders are

very good for this activity, as they can fit 4 guns with 100% damage bonus, plus have 3-4

Energy neuts fitted. They also receive an excellent bonus to webs- meaning that your target

will barely move.

2) Get your alt/buddy into a dessy. It will be imitating a salvage alt for the mission.

3) Accept a mission from a lvl 4 Agent in a small trade hub (avoid big ones) This is where you

have to really concentrate. There are several methods for baiting Missioners, but here are a

few good ones:

- You can’t do a mission as your tank isn’t good enough; you need someone to help you to

tank it. You will give all rewards to person, as you are only doing mission as you would lost

standings/only doing it for the standings.

- You are trying to get your standings up really quickly, and want a missioner to join you, so

you can bomb through missions quickly. As you are only doing it for the standings, all

rewards go to the helper. (So to the Missioner, they will be doing missions twice as quick,

and still get all the rewards)

4) make your alt aggro you. Such as you dropping a can, and your alt taking it (While not in

fleet!) Then fleet up again. (You have 15 minutes to get a catch) You could also damage your

alt into deep armor, so you can make the victim rep it.

4) When one finally convos you, Invite him/her to fleet. Firstly, as your alt will also be in

fleet, explain that it is your salvaging alt. Now this bit is vital: Persuade the missioner to fit a

remote rep on his ship to protect your ship/your alt’s. (Or some other good explanation. I

have used “My Alt will speed tank in his dessy, but can you remote rep him while he does?”

If they refuse, explain that it would be easier for

you to do it with someone who will, and

apologise, tell them you will look for someone

else. At this point they will either fit one or

leave. Usually they will fit one.

5) Warp all three of you to the mission. If you

have any backup, they should have bookmarks,

or cloaked inside. Then you should “Crash” your

main. In other words, log off. Speak to the

Missioner through your alt (This is just a sneaky

way of leaving fleet) While you are still

“Rebooting”, request for your alt to be repped.

6) The moment you see your alt repped, log

back on. You will come in to find both your alt,

and the target, deep red (As shown in the

picture)

7) Kill the target, or ransom it for a few hundred mil

extra isk. (yay!)

Corp Theft

This is when you infiltrate a corp/alliance with the intention to gain trust, rank, and then, all

of their assets. You usually do this by gaining trust within the corp, and thereby gaining

access to more assets. When you feel like you have the ability to take as much as you want,

you do so. However, thats pretty much it, and there isn’t any way to write a lengthy guide

on how to do this- that was it. However, I want to introduce you to a type of corp that you

probably have not considered yet.

Wormhole Theft

Oh yes. This is easier, and so much easier than usual corp theft. This is because, instead of

all the corp’s assets locked up in a station, it’s at a POS in their wormhole system. They will

even tell you how to get to the wormhole!

Now... why can this be so lucrative? This is why:

Pretty much: Most established wormhole corporations have alot of caps. They have to keep

them at their POS. In other words- fresh for the taking.

For this, you need an alt to infiltrate their corp, and a character who can fly the capital ships

that will be hijacked. When the time comes, you will need a prober (This can be your alt)

and someone with a cyno ready to let the capitals jump safely from the wormhole exit.

So, here it is:

1) Infiltrate corp. Let them take you to their system, but most of the time you should find

them first in their wormhole (And see what ships they have), and find out what corp owns

the POS, and apply to them with the alt.

2) Find out the POS password (this may take some time, don’t be too forceful about it)

3) When the time comes and you have everyone prepared (Do it at a time when very

few/no corp pilots are online), Find the wormhole, and let your capital ship pilot in. The

capital ship pilot will be in a hauler stocked with the fuel needed to jump the capitals. The

alt will then eject from the industrial at a safe spot, and warp to the POS, with the password

configured for his ship.

4) Board a capital ship with a capital ship Pilot (Duh) Stock up on the fuel from the industrial,

and go through the wormhole. Jump to the cyno alt. Congrats! Rinse and repeat if there are

multiple capitals. The wormhole will probably collapse every time, so your alt in the

wormhole system will have to find others, and you will have to reposition wherever is

appropriate in the eve universe.

5) this is not necessary, but if you have infiltrated a corp with many members, or many

capital ships, a good idea is to bring your character in with an industrial with a small POS,

and fuel to last a day or so (and fuel for the cap ships). You then set up the POS, and do the

beginning of part 4, except when you warp away, warp to your new POS, deposit ship, go

back to pick up another Ship, etc. You should get all their ships in no time, and once they

find out, there is nothing they can do. By the time they could take down your POS

(Considering you have a full complement of Stontium) You should have managed to get all

Ships safely back to Known space. If all

else fails, just self-destruct the ship for

the basic insurance.

ganking useful.
