A Message From the Headmaster
It is has been 14 years since I last walked the campus as a member of the staff, and 34 years since I left the yellow brick road as a graduate. Many things have changed since 1976 when I was graduated, and since 1996, when I left the position of Director of Development and Public Relations. The most recent expansion and renovation projects have transformed the campus into breathtaking facilities that enhance student learning. The buildings and grounds create a college-like campus environment that emphasizes the importance and dignity of learning. This tradition of place began with the initial purchase of the Archmere Estate from John and Helena Raskob by the Norbertine Faithers in the summer of 1932. Beginning a boys’ board and day school in an Italianite Villa with more than 40 acres of land delivered a message that an Achmere educational experience was a special and fortunate gift for those of us who were able to attend the Academy.
We recognize that the much of the “special” atmosphere of Archmere is created by the interaction of the people who are part of the school community. Most especially, the student-teacher interactions that occur each day are the sparks that create the magic we experience as members of the school community. Whether we are parents, alumni, benefactors, board members, or community members, I would guess that we are most impressed by the relationships formed between students and teachers, working collaboratively to grow in “pietate et scientia.”
On behalf of the entire Archmere community, I thank all those who have contributed to the success of the Academy over the last year in so many ways. Gifts to the Annual Fund have helped with campus improvement projects, professional development programs for faculty, technology enhancements, and many other areas of daily operations. Gifts to the Endowed Scholarship Funds have helped to build funds that are permanently restricted to support the financial assistance program for students. Capital gifts have helped us to complete specific projects, and some capital projects were also supported with gifts-in-kind of materials and personal time and expertise. The generosity and unwavering loyalty of our alumni continues to astound me, and bears real witness to the lasting relationships they have fostered with Archmere.
This relationship of place to experience calls to mind God’s call to Moses in the Book of Exodus. God speaks to Moses in the burning bush, telling him to save the Israelites from their Egyptian oppressors. God tells Moses to take off his sandals because he is “standing on holy ground.” Later in the salvation history story in the Old Testament, God called Joshua in the same way. The Israelites had been traveling in the desert for years, being fed from manna from God. Then, God told Joshua that they would no longer receive manna and would live off the crops they planted in the place they had settled. He told Joshua to remove his sandals, because the place he was standing was “holy ground.” In both stories of Moses and Joshua, the relationship - the call between God and humankind - made the very ground sacred.
In a similar way, I like to think that our very call to educating young men and women with not only facts and skills but with values and character, has anointed this ground. I have most enjoyed working in education because, if you are truly engaged with the students, you become one of them - a life-long learner who is secure to know that you do not know - and that is exciting!
The lyrics to the song, “We Are Standing on Holy Ground,” written by Bill Gaither, summarize my thoughts well:
When I walk through the doors, I sensed His presence And I knew this was a place where love abounds. For this is a temple; the God we love abides here, Oh we are standing in His presence on holy ground.
Those of us who have had Archmere experiences can understand how a place can never leave you. When we leave, we take with us the stories, the relationships, and the personal growth and learning. While many alumni, parents, and friends will not return to campus for some time, many will comment about their time at Archmere, and how transforming and special it was.
I am grateful to have the opportunity to return to Archmere. From my first day as Headmaster, I could feel that familiar spirit of community that is Archmere. I invite you to come back and visit with us, if you have been away for a while. Join with us in working and learning together, and in celebrating this special place we call, “Archmere.” We are on holy ground!
Michael A. Marinelli, Ed.D. ‘76 Headmaster
A Place That Never Leaves You
Michael Marinelli, Ed.D. was officially inducted as Headmaster of Archmere Academy at an installation ceremony this Fall. Dr. Marinelli is pictured shaking hands with Board of Trustee Chair, Robert E. Shields ’60. Present at the induction were:
Abbot Richard Antenucci and Rev. Joseph Cilia (seated), members of Archmere’s concert choir and the Saint Joseph on the Brandywine parish choir (back rows), and Dr. Marinelli’s wife, Diane (to the right).

Building Foundations for Tomorrow: Tradition and Progress at Archmere
The Board of Trustees feels it could not have found a finer successor to Fr. McLaughlin than Dr. Marinelli, and welcomes him to Archmere for the third time. Marinelli was a student at Archmere from 1972 to 1976 and Director of Development from 1984 to 1996. He then moved to the Delaware Art Museum where he was Development Director from 1996 to 1998, when he joined St. Edmond’s Academy in Wilmington as its Associate Headmaster, becoming its first lay Headmaster seven years ago. The combination of his green Archmere blood, institutional advancement skills, advanced business and education degrees and educational leadership experience will serve Archmere well.
Along with the offices of Institutional Advancement and Admissions, Dr. Marinelli has moved into The Patio, situated in the office used originally by John Raskob and thereafter by Archmere Headmasters through Fr. Diny. The reintegration of The Patio into active campus life comes as part of the Board of Trustees’ efforts to reemphasize the importance of tradition at Archmere.
The historical tradition of the campus, like the Catholic, Norbertine tradition of Archmere education, is part of what sets Archmere apart. Though the number of Norbertines on campus has decreased, the rigorous academic standards, focus on moral instruction and sense of community remain. Dr. Marinelli has done extensive research on the Norbertine charism and will play a major leadership role in this reinvigorated focus on the school’s Catholic and Norbetine heritage.
This academic year, Archmere marks the fifth anniversary of the Sponsorship Document under which the Norbertines of Daylesford Abbey in Paoli, Pennsylvania have made a renewed commitment to sponsor Archmere, and Archmere and Daylesford Abbey committed to make themselves present to each other. Archmere has been blessed since the spring of 2001 by the help of Daylesford Abbey. Abbot Richard J. Antonucci, O. Praem. and his predecessor, Abbot Ronald J. Rossi, O. Praem., have done much to help and support Archmere.
“Archmere has come a long way since the dark days of 2001,” says Board Chair, Robert E. Shields ’60. “Its governing documents were radically restructured that year to remove primary responsibility for the Academy from its former Delaware Norbertine members and instead vest it in a self-perpetuating board of trustees. Under the revised governing documents, the powers of the members are now severely restricted, as is customary in independent Board-run schools.”
In light of Archmere’s stability since 2001, Most Rev. W. Francis Malooly, Bishop of Wilmington, and Rt. Rev. Gary Neville, O. Praem., Abbot of De Pere have resigned as members of the Archmere corporation. Going forward, the two remaining members of the Archmere corporation, the Abbot of Daylesford and another Norbertine appointed by the Abbot, will be joined by a person with strong ties to Archmere, selected by Archmere’s Board of Trustees. The first person selected by the Board of Trustees for this role is Joseph Melloy ‘52, a past President of the Alumni Council and current chair of the Friends of The Patio.
Rooted in tradition and built on the pillars of knowledge, wisdom, community, reverence and faith, Archmere will continue to build a strong foundation for today’s students and for future generations of young men and women. With an exceptional student body, committed parents, skilled and dedicated teachers, loyal alumni and an enthusiastic new Headmaster, today’s Archmere truly embodies the essence of “Pietate et Scientia.”
As you flip through the pages of this issue of the Archmerean, you will notice it looks a little different. Aside from the design, which is in line with Archmere’s new Admissions materials and proposed Web site, some of the content has changed and the Annual Report has been included as an insert. This Archmerean is serving as a transitional piece. The Archmerean and the Annual Report are expected to return to single publications, but as the Academy reevaluates its plans for traditional and online communication, change is in the air.
Looking toward the future, Arcmere is embracing technology as a means of fostering community and enhancing education. Archmere Academy staff have been studying the concept of each student having his or her own laptop device with wireless internet connectivity, as a way to integrate technology more fully into the classroom and take advantage of every opportunity to raise the level of instruction. A pilot program is planned for the Spring semester.
But the online community is not just for the students. This Spring, the school will launch its new, redesigned Web site, and will be expanding its use of online communication. While developing a sense of community that extends beyond the campus, these efforts will contribute to the school’s environmental consciousness and goals of sustainability.
The Archmere family hopes this initiative will help it reach out to all of its members – parents, students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends. In order to do so, it is imperative that the school continues to build its e-mail database. Please send your name, class year and e-mail address to Stephanie Green in the Office of Institutional Advacement at [email protected] and continue to stay connected to this family.

Building Foundations for Tomorrow: Tradition and Progress at ArchmereJuly 1, 2010 marked a momentous day for Archmere Academy. For the first time in the school’s 78 year history, the role of Headmaster was not be filled by a solemnly professed member of the Norbertine community.
Father McLaughlin’s decision not to accept another term as Headmaster after he completed the term of Fr. John Zagarella started a search process that resulted in the selection of Dr. Michael Marinelli ’76 to become Archmere’s tenth Headmaster. Dr. Marinelli assumed his office on July 1, 2010, when Fr. McLaughlin became Headmaster Emeritus.
Archmere’s last Headmaster Emeritus was Rev. Justin E. Diny, O. Praem., who led and served Archmere for 37 years and who assumed the emeritus role when Fr. McLaughlin became Headmaster for the first time in 1983. It is Archmere’s great fortune that Fr. McLaughlin will remain with Archmere in his emeritus role as well as Director of Mission and Heritage and Chaplain. He is a worthy successor to Fr. Diny. Fr. McLaughlin led and served Archmere, its students, parents and alums from 1983 to 1996 and again from 2006-2010. Archmere is indebted to him, grateful for his countless contributions and blessed that he will continue to be with us.
Sustaining the Community Beyond the Campus
98
Michael’s freshman year at Archmere (1972-1973) I taught him sophomore English during the second semester. I also coached him in forensics for four years. In 1984 I welcomed Michael back to Archmere as Director of Development, a position he held until 1996. I am thrilled now that Michael has returned to Archmere as headmaster.
On July 1, 2010 I began serving as Archmere’s director of mission and heritage, and as chaplain, a position I held also in 1982-1983 and 2001-2006. As chaplain I offer a daily mass in the school chapel. But, there have been other opportunities for me as chaplain. John Jordan, ’80 organized a camping trip in Virginia on August 1 for rising seniors, and I offered mass for them in the formal garden before they left that day. I also led the Mothers Guild in praying the rosary in the formal garden on October 7, the feast of the Holy Rosary. I blessed a tree in memory of Mrs. Georgene Hayes, mother of Sean Hayes, ’89, on October 10, her first anniversary.
But, my duties have taken me off campus as well. On August 1 I offered a blessing for Patrick Walsh’10, during his Eagle Court of Honor. I baptized the daughters of Christian Hagerty, ’93 (August 15), Christopher Mrozinski, ’93 (August 29), Albert Cosenza, ’91 (September 12), and Joseph Angelini (October 30). I assisted at the weddings of Benjamin Hill, ’95 (July 17), Michael Phillips, ’97 (August 7), and Matthew O’Brien, ’99 (October 23). I officiated at the funerals of Mrs. Carol Carroll, mother of Michael, ’74, Mark, ’77, and Marcie, ’83 (September 13); Joseph Abbott, ’72, brother of Andrew ’79 and William ’80 (September 20); and William Coyle, father of Carson Coyle, ’08 (November 17). As Archmere’s Mission Statement proclaims, Archmere has “a heritage of committed faculty, alumni, family, and friends.”
God has blessed Archmere continually over the 79 years of its history, and the Norbertine Order over its 889 years since Saint Norbert and his companions professed their vows on December 25, 1121. This morning, at the beginning of the school day, the whole Archmere community gathered in the Quad for the blessing of the large Advent Wreath, constructed by our maintenance staff under the inspiration of Michael Marinelli. At the blessing I prayed the following words: “Lord, God, let your blessing come upon us as we light the candles of this wreath. May the wreath and its light be a sign of Christ’s promise to bring us salvation.”
Faithfully,
Father Joseph McLaughlin, O.Praem. Headmaster Emeritus.
November 29, 2010
Dear Members of the Archmere Community,
On the evening of September 14, 1932, Father Michael Mc Keough, O.Praem., Archmere’s first headmaster. wrote to Abbot Bernard Pennings, O.Praem. in DePere, Wisconsin about Archmere’s first day of school: “We started this morning with sixteen boys; another came this afternoon. ... This is a small portion of the fifty we had hoped for. ... We shall carry on the best we can and trust we will survive until next year.” Freshman Robert Kelly, ’36 wrote of that day in the 1936 yearbook: “We beheld Father McKeough approaching us. After a friendly greeting he directed us toward the chapel ( for) Holy Mass.”
Joining Father McKeough that first year were six other faculty: Father Daniel Hurley, O.Praem., Father Cyril Miron, O.Praem., Father Mark Steinmetz, O.Praem., Mr. John Fleck, Mr. Francis Gallagher, and Mr. John Oakes. Of the seventeen students who began at Archmere on September 14, 1932, three became priests: George Feldman, ’36 and Neal McLaughlin, ’36 both attended Saint Norbert College, were ordained Norbertine priests in 1943, and later returned to Archmere to teach. Paul Taggart, ’36, after attending Mount St. Mary’s College and serving in the US Navy, came to Archmere to teach for one year before entering the seminary; he was ordained for the Diocese of Wilmington in 1951.
Currently twelve alumni of Archmere are serving as diocesan or religious order priests. One of them, Father John M. Hynes, ’57, pastor of Saint Catherine of Siena Parish in Wilmington, was the main celebrant of Archmere’s Thanksgiving Liturgy last week. Father Hynes has recently been honored by the Diocese of Wilmington for his work with the Hispanic
Community of Delaware and the people of Guatamala. Concelebrating with Father Hynes and me was Father Michael Collins, O.Praem., ’68, who has served Archmere as teacher and administrator for 33 years.
A total of 79 Norbertines have served Archmere over these 79 school years, 38 of them now deceased. Of the living Norbertines, Father Blaise Krautsack, O.Praem. served Archmere from 1975 to 2010 as religion teacher, Religion Department Chair, bookstore moderator, and director of “Blaise and the Flames.” On July 1, 2010 he began serving as parochial vicar at Our Lady of Consolation Parish in Parkesburg, Chester County, PA.
On June 30, 2010 I completed my second term as headmaster (1983-1996, 2006-2010). As you know, on July 1, 2010 Michael A. Marinelli,’76 began his service as Archmere’s tenth headmaster, the first non-Norbertine headmaster. During

Alison and Greg both cite the rapport with teachers and the sense of community on campus as something they miss about Archmere and remember fondly. And like Alison, Greg is grateful for the ways Archmere prepared him for college. “Archmere instilled in me good study habits and the level of coursework I was exposed to is putting me ahead of the curve in my college classes,” he says.
With the talent and enthusiasm these two former Auks exude, its certain that their collegiate careers will be successful and their dreams within reach.
Elizabeth Profita ’10
Though she may be about 5,000 miles away, Elizabeth (Lizzy) Profita ’10 is finding ways to build her college experience off of the interests she developed at Archmere. Formerly the president of the service club, captain of the swim team, and member of the concert band, and the ecology club at Archmere, Lizzy is now pursuing a degree in marine biology at University of Hawaii at Manoa. “I always loved the water, and really enjoyed Marine Biology at Archmere when I took it at Archmere with Mr. Bellace,” she says.
At Hawaii, Lizzy is involved in Circle K, an international service club, plays trumpet in the university’s marching band, volunteers at a local soup kitchen and is active in Catholic life on campus. While she misses the small classes and her friends from Archmere, and is admittedly still getting use to the time difference, Lizzy is enjoying interacting with students from all over the country. “I am learning a lot about different cultures, and the vast differences that exist even just coast to coast [in the U.S.],” she says.
It comes as no surprise that Lizzy, whose passions for marine life and community service are obvious, dreams of getting involved in marine conservation or joining a team to clean up the Pacific Ocean’s great ‘garbage patch,’ a floating landfill in the North Pacific Ocean.
Archmere Academy’s class of 2010 was an impressive and successful student body. Today, many of these young alumni are embarking on interesting and exciting collegiate careers. A few of those students’ profiles are written here. For the full list of graduation scholarships, medals, awards and colleges, visit www.archmereacademy.com/alumni
Alison Celello ’10 and Gregory Jasani ’10
Alison Celello and Gregory Jasani shared the title of Valedictorian of the Class of 2010 but valued their distinct and personal experiences at Archmere. Today, the two former Auks have similar, but unique plans for the future.
Last year, Alison was a co-editor in Chief of the Green Arch, a member of NHS and the Academic Honesty Committee, and captain of the Girls’ Tennis and Swimming Teams. Now, an Echols Scholar a the University of Virginia (UVA), Alison is taking classes in the pre-med track, and toying with majoring in History, American Studies, or French (for which she received the Graduation Medal at Archmere.)
She believes that the challenging learning environment and the encouragement from teachers at Archmere to explore helped prepare her for college.
“At Archmere, we [students] had to be very independent and take control of our own learning,” says Alison. “The teachers set goals for us and held us to high standards and we were responsible for managing our time – so for me, it was a natural transition to college, where I have a varied schedule.”
When she’s not in class or studying, Alison is volunteering for Camp Kesem, a camp for kids whose parents have cancer, is preparing for a spring break service trip to Trinidad, and is taking advantage of all that UVA and Charlottesville have to offer. “My dream job would be a Pediatric Oncologist (if I take the medical route). Whatever I do, I know I want to work in social justice in some way,” she says.
A little north of UVA, Gregory (Greg) Jasani is studying Government at Georgetown, and is also enrolled in pre-med classes. “I want to go to Medical School to be a Doctor and stay politically active – I’d love to one day run for office,” he says.
Greg also works for Georgetown’s Annual Fund, enjoys exploring Washington D.C. and plays trombone in the Georgetown Pep Band, a passion he took with him from Archmere, where he played in the Pep and Jazz Bands all four years. It doesn’t hurt that the pep band also gets free tickets to Georgetown basketball games, he says.
As an Auk, Greg was head of the model U.N. club, co-editor of the Green Arch, and captain of the academic bowl. One of his favorite memories from Archmere? “When we beat the teachers at academic bowl. It was just one time my junior year, but it was great,” he says.

On June 6, 2010, Archmere Academy presented the prestigious Alumnus of the Year Award to Anthony Gerard Flynn, Esquire ’69. Headmaster Emeritus Father McLaughlin presented Attorney Flynn with the award, delivering a speech in his honor that played a bit of “guess the alumnus.” The following is excerpts from his speech:
“Our alumnus of the year entered Archmere in the Fall of 1965, after graduation from Saint Mary Magdalen School in Wilmington. He ran cross country for two years and participated in track for four years at the academy and was elected class representative in freshman and sophomore years, secretary of the junior class, and treasurer of the Student Council during senior year. Concerning that task, Mrs. Esther Wilson, Archmere’s long-time bursar, placed a note in his file indicating that he was in charge of collecting $3.00 from each senior for the chartered bus for the senior prom. The task was only partially completed, causing Father Justin Diny, O.Praem., Archmere’s 4th headmaster, to write a check at 12:30AM after the prom, to the bus company, to, as Father Diny wrote, “bail out the Class of 1969.”
He attended the University of Delaware, earning a BA in History and Political Science in 1973, (perhaps his stint as Student Council Treasurer steered him away from a career in mathematics) and in 1977 he was graduated from Columbus School of Law at The Catholic University of America, with the degree Juris Doctor.
That same year he was admitted to the Delaware Bar, later serving as Legal Counsel to the Governor of Delaware from 1983 to 1988. Since 1988 he has been a Partner with the law firm of Young Conaway Stargett & Taylor. Currently he is Leader of the Environmental Law Section of the firm. Since 2002 he has been attorney for the Catholic Diocese of Wilmington, succeeding Mr. James P. Collins, Archmere Class of 1937.
He has been an active member of Saint Ann Parish since 1977, serving in several roles, including as President of the Parish Council, and co-chair of the Centennial Committee, and was a member of the Pastoral Council of the Diocese of Wilmington from 1993 to 2000.
In April 2001, in the aftermath of “the troubles,” our alumnus became chair and member of the executive committee of the Committee to Save Archmere. At that same time he became legal counsel to Archmere Academy, again succeeding Mr. James P. Collins, ’37. He has been a member of the Executive Committee of Archmere’s Board of Trustees since 2001, chaired the Board’s Mission and Heritage Committee, and, for the last four years has served as Secretary of the Board of Trustees, using the skills he learned during his junior year at Archmere as class secretary.
On May 30, 2010, Bishop W. Francis Malooly awarded him the papal honor “Cross Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice” (“for the church and the pontiff”), an award conferred on those who have given outstanding service to the Church - the highest honor the Holy Father can confer on a layperson.
It is with profound gratitude and great joy that Archmere Academy bestows the 2010 Alumnus of the Year award on Anthony Gerard Flynn, Esquire, Archmere Class of 1969, husband of Catherine (Cabby), father of Patrick, Michael ’03, Anthony (Roddy), ’04, and grandfather of Robert Emmet, born on January 26, 2010. Tony has lived to the fullest Archmere’s call to be “people of piety and wisdom, prepared for every good work.”

Christina Shea ’10
A former four-year varsity field hockey player and senior captain at Archmere, Christina Shea ‘10 now plays for Ohio State’s Division I women’s field hockey team, which recently made it to the final four. She is enjoying the big campus feel, the incredible people she’s met at OSU, as well as traveling with her team.
“I love to travel,” says Christina. “Someday I’d love to have a job that allows me to travel to different countries and meet people from all over the world.” At Archmere, Christina had the opportunity to travel to Peru, a trip run through the Language Department, with Senorita daPonte, who she refers to as “an excellent teacher and mentor.” “The opportunity to travel to Peru was incredible. I think its great that Archmere gives students that chance to experience different parts of the world,” she says. Christina is enrolled in Spanish as part of her course load and is considering it as a minor, along with a major in Strategic Communication or Marketing.
While field hockey takes up a large portion of her time, Christina seems to be managing her schedule with ease. “Archmere really showed me how to balance school, family and sports, so I’m really grateful for that,” she says. While at Archmere, Christina was named a Diamond State All-Conference and All-State honoree in both field hockey and softball, and was Field Hockey’s Outstanding Senior for 2010.

A Special Thank YouMessage from the Chair of the Board of Trustees
Dear Alums, Parents, Faculty and other Friends of Archmere,
The Board of Trustees is pleased to present you with this report of gifts made to Archmere in the last year. We do so with deep gratitude for your generosity and with firm resolve to be wise and faithful stewards of your treasure.
Archmere has a noble and ambitious mission that is summed up in “Pietate et Scientia.” Inspired by our Norbertine tradition and our 78 year heritage of unswerving faculty commitment to mentoring, we are dedicated to preparing young women and men for college, career, life and afterlife by challenging them with rigorous academic standards, developing them as whole persons and exploring with them what their moral values imply for their relationships with their current and future communities.
Like almost all other independent schools, Archmere cannot accomplish its mission solely with tuition revenue. Annual giving and endowment income have been crucial in balancing the annual budget. As we peer into the future in these challenging economic times, it is clear that both annual giving and endowment must continue to grow in magnitude. We are most grateful for your support last year and hopeful for your continued solidarity with Archmere this year as we seek to expand our donor base and increase both annual giving and endowment.
All of you have helped Archmere with your financial support. Thank you. I want to say a special word of thanks to the anonymous foundation that has provided Archmere with $300,000 of challenge grants designed to help us increase annual giving over the last two years. We were able to secure $110,000 of the challenge grant in 2008-09 by increasing annual giving by that amount and $75,000 of the additional challenge grant in 2009-10 by increasing the percentage of alums who contribute to annual giving. Now that we are on our own without challenge grants, it is important that we maintain and even increase the momentum.
This is also a time to pause and reflect on the many blessings that have been bestowed on Archmere by all those in the Archmere family – whether parents, teachers, administrators, alums, trustees or other friends – who give us so much of their time and talent as volunteers. Thanks to all of you for your generosity to Archmere.
Finally, a special word to those who haven’t visited the campus for some time: please come back and see some of the results of your generosity. See the new Student Life Center; see the new quadrangle; see the recent improvements in St. Norbert Hall; see the new athletic fields; see the improvements in the Science Center; and last, but by no means least, see the beautiful recently restored Patio.
Archmere is a vibrant and exciting place. Onward and upward in Pietate et Scientia! On behalf of the Board of Trustees with gratitude, and faithfully in St. Norbert.

Financial Data
How Do Gifts To Both The Annual Fund And The Endowment Fund Help Archmere Academy?
For the fiscal year 2009 - 2010, actual results, 5% of operating revenue came from the Annual Fund. The same
5% is budgeted for 2010 - 2011. Revenue from the Endowment Fund contributed 4% for 2009 - 2010, actual
results. The same 4% is budgeted for 2010 - 2011. Because the Endowment Fund provides support in perpetuity,
it offers the surest source of non-tuition revenue. Our Endowment Fund is managed in a conservative manner
with Vanguard Asset Management Services with an annual 4.5% withdraw based on a rolling three-year average.
In order to control tuition increases while meeting our programmatic goals, it is essential to increase both the
Annual Fund and the Endowment Fund. Without both of these very important revenue sources, our tuition would
have been approximately $1,700 higher with limited scholarship and tuition assistance programs. Thank you
for your help in keeping Archmere Academy’s tuition more affordable. Your gifts are very much appreciated.

Ways To Invest In Archmere AcademyThe 2010-2011 Annual Fund
Cash/Check/Credit CardMost gifts to Archmere Academy are in the forms
of cash, check or credit card. Make your gift over
the phone, mail it in or you can make a secure,
online contribution with your credit card by
simply going to www.archmereacademy.com.
Corporate Matching Gifts Corporate matching gifts provide a wonderful
opportunity to double - sometimes even triple -
your contribution to Archmere. Please contact your
company’s personnel office for specific information
about your employer’s matching gift program. It is
necessary in all cases for the donor to secure the proper
forms from the corporation and to submit them to
Archmere in order for us to receive the matching gifts.
Appreciated Stock/SecuritiesStock gifts are another way to donate to the funds
at Archmere. To transfer stock/securities, contact
Penny Cavelli from Morgan Stanley at 302-657-2000.
Archmere’s account number is 502-027597-0-046
and the DTC transfer number is 0015.
Memorial GiftsHonor and remember a loved one, friend or relative by donating a “gift in memory” of the deceased. Gifts in memory are credited to the Annual Fund and families are notified of the donation.
Gifts-In-KindGifts, other then monetary, are considered to be gifts-in-kind. Examples include: computer equipment, landscaping, athletic uniforms and books.
Life InsuranceGive a policy with Archmere Academy named as owner and beneficiary. You can claim an income tax deduction and possible future deductions. Avoid the twofold taxation on retirement plan assets.

The Office of Institutional Advancement of Archmere Academy has taken great care to ensure the accuracy of this report. We sincerely regret any errors or omissions that may have inadvertently been

Thank You.
This year, for the first time when considering your gift to the Annual Fund, you have the power to designate an area where your dollars will go. You can make a gift to the Annual Fund in a way that matters most to you. You may give to as many Annual Fund giving areas as you like.
Giving areas include Facilities; Market Expansion; Academic Programs; Athletics, Art and Activities; and an “Undesignated” option. This year’s Annual Fund goal of $500,000 will help underwrite projects like campus building renovations, bus service expansion, tuition assistance programs, athletic equipment, classroom technology, art supplies, production costs for stage performances, and faculty training in interdisciplinary curriculum planning.
We can raise $500,000 for the Annual Fund this year! If everyone who gave last year increased their gift by 15%, our alumni participation increased from 18% to 20%, and our current parents increased their participation from 53% to 60% we would raise $500,000!
To view an extended list of Annual Fund allocations and needs, or to donate online, visit the Institutional Advancement page of the Web site.
