Good Samaritan Hospice is pleased to introduce you to a deeply compelling memoir, Mister Owita’s Guide to Gardening (a poignant story of two friends affirming life within the eventuality of death) by Carol Wall.
Carol died from complications of breast cancer on December 14, 2014, just nine months after Mister Owita’s Guide to Gardening was published to critical acclaim. In accordance with her wishes, her husband, Dick, and children have carried on the message of her book, speaking to readers and groups across the country about the enduring themes of friendship, faith, humanity,
transformation and the wonderful secrets of life. Dick illuminates his wife’s journey to a deeper understanding of life, even in the midst of illness and grief.
Light lunch will be served.
Carol hired the talented gardener from Kenya not knowing until later – to her embarrassment since she had recited tree pruning instructions to him – he holds a doctor of philosophy in horticulture from Virginia Tech.
