FROM THE REGIONAL DIRECTOR’S DESK
Dear Friends,
Welcome to the month of March which
hosts the birthday of our Hospitaller
Founder John of God. This year being so
special, the month of March starts with
Ash Wednesday which marks the begin-
ning of a special season of Lent in the
church liturgical year. Lent is a period that
we pray, fast and give arms to the vulnera-
ble in our society. It’s a special season of
grace.
It is during this month that our health ser-
vices present the first quarter of its activi-
ties. In the course of this month a lot has
happened within our health services here
in Cameroon and beyond. Our Founder’s
Feast day is celebrated with Clients,
Stakeholders and Collaborators through-
out our centres in Cameroon. Our sister
hospital at Mabesseneh in Lunsar - Sierra
Leone clocks 50 and is well celebrated in
the presence of the Prior General Jesus
Etayo Arrondo and many Collaborators.
The first triplets are delivered in Brother
Jose Garcia maternity unit at the St John
of God Hospital in Batibo.
The Counsellor in charge of Co-Workers paid a
working and fraternal visit to our Hospitaller cen-
tres in Liberia and Sierra Leone. The service in
Cameroon lost a member of her pastoral and bio-
ethics committee in the person of Mr Mbatifuh
Thomas Mbechek.

ended with a small fund raising to support the
project at Elum and the amount was 114,100 frs.

Leone is fifty years already. We congratulate the
hospital management headed by Bro Michael Mu-
sa Koroma, the pioneering Brothers and all who
have contributed in diverse ways to make the cel-
ebration of the fifty years a visible success. Bro
Jesus Goni and Bro Gregory are among the pio-
neer icons who lived to see this dream they start-
ed some fifty years ago.
Bro Fernando Aguilo is a brother medical doctor
who is alive today and still giving all is energy to
keep the banner of the hospital flying in Barcelona
despite his ill health. He has been a major back-
bone of the hospital after the late Bro Richard Bo-
tifoll and Jose Maria Perez.
The ceremony attracted many people throughout
Sierra Leone and abroad. It was attended by the
Father General and some member of his Council,
Provincial and his Council. The day started with a
