College academic calendar was laid-down for effective implementation of ourcurriculum, academic audit, PTA meetings and feedback from stakeholders, facilitatingthe college alumnae meet etc., the cell is actively involved in effective implementation ofCentre for Potential Excellence (CPE) of UGC and DST-FIST Programme forpostgraduate studies and DBT Star College Scheme for under graduate studies.Meanwhile, IQAC worked towards obtaining permanent affiliation from the Universityand 2(f), 12(b) status of UGC for postgraduate studies. As lead college, we are workingtowards up-gradation of the Institution to Cluster University under RUSA of MHRD.
IQAC has taken keen interest in submitting proposal for financial assistance under ATALIncubation Centre in concurrence from Department of Collegiate Education.

College is affiliated to Bangalore University and syllabus is updated every three years.However, Most of our faculty are actively involved in Board of Studies (BOS) & BOE.Under DBT Star Scheme we have designed SOPs for laboratory experiments andinstrument operation & maintenance.
We have initiated the establishment of central instrumentation and ICT Network facility under DST-FIST and CPE programme. The Edu-Tel (tele-education) system, H.K regionfor enriching the soft skills under the aegis of Department of Collegiate Education, was set up in our Institution as a pilot initiative.

2.12. How does IQAC Contribute/Monitor/Evaluate the teaching and learning processes.
IQAC facilitated bridge course for new entrants, initiated implementation of studentresearch projects and industrial visits under star scheme, mentor system addresseddifficulties faced by the students academically and others as well, conducted open dayfor UG students encouraging them to take up PG courses. In the Academic councilmeeting, academic issues were discussed; in turn heads of the department assigned thesyllabus and time table to the respective faculty members. Under Star College Scheme and CPE, students were encouraged to actively participate instudent projects to promote research culture. Organised a special lecture on “Thoughts of Dr.B.R.Ambedkar and India’s Contemporary Circumstances”.
Students participated in the Inaugural and Valedictory functions of 154th Swami Vivekanada Jayanthi and Yuva Sapthaha.

Commissionarate of Collegiate education, Government of Karnataka has active eMIS portalwhich provides the guidelines regarding the administration of the college in addition to collegeweb portal. The College is affiliated to Bangalore University. Faculty who are members of Board ofStudies in the University as well as in Autonomous colleges and other deemed to be University,contribute to the curriculum development keeping abreast with the current need and industryrequirement. Curriculum feedback is obtained from outgoing UG/PG students, Alumni &Industry and relevant suggestions are placed in the Board of Studies meeting. TheBioinformatics Information Facility (BIF) funded by DBT is offering Certificate courses tofacilitate career opportunities to students, wherein the curriculum for the course is designed bythe faculty themselves.
College has 3 ongoing major research projects and 9 minor research projects. The facultyhave published 42 research papers in peer reviewed international journals, 5 in nationaljournals and 14 National Conference proceedings. Faculty have presented 50 papers innational and 20 international conferences. Students were encouraged to undertake researchprojects and published papers. Seven faculty members are recognised as PhD guides and14 PhD scholars are pursuing Ph D. Under Star College Scheme, UG students get anopportunity to engage in student projects in large scale thereby promoting research culture.
Effective teaching and learning is achieved by Illustrations, ICT and smart classrooms withinteractive boards other than regular chalk and talk method. Assignments, Student Seminars,Group Discussions, Quiz, Model Making, Chart Making, Computer Simulations, StudentResearch Projects are the various methods adopted to make teaching learning effective andinteractive. Students observe characters and behaviour of flora and fauna, interact withCollaborative Undergraduate Biological research (CUBE). In addition we have explored thevirtual dissection projection during laboratory experiments. The Inflibnet facility at the library helps to keep abreast with latest information. The BIF is keptopen to Faculty and students for their research as well as project work. DCE developed e-content module for undergraduate and postgraduate syllabi and madeaccessible through smart phone via Media servers. To promote women higher education State government has initiated a programme to provide thepreloaded laptops to all economically viable students
The college conducts regular internal tests, assignments and seminars. Any changes in theexamination system/pattern are informed to the students on the display notice boards/weekly assembly. PG students are evaluated by class tests, assignments andSeminars/Presentations. PG students are constantly encouraged to participate in Nationalconferences and present research papers. At the end of the semester they are given pre-finalexamination and prepared to the Final Semester Exams of the University. Mock PracticalExams are conducted for the UG and PG students well in advance to boost their confidenceand to hone their practical skills.

Since 2014-15, admission process for I BSc students has been made online by Directorateof Collegiate Education (DCE) on the website www.dce.kar.nic.in, also published inleading dailies and hoardings once the II PUC results are announced. The admissionnotification is also displayed on the college notice boards, providing detailed and relatedinformation about the process of admission and fees to be remitted. Online applicationsare invited, processed and selection list is announced based on merit and state governmentnorms, social justice and equity is well maintained. Transparency in admissions ismaintained by means of an Admission committee headed by the Principal.
The PG (M.Sc Physics, Mathematics, Microbiology, Biochemistry & MCA) get enrolledthrough centralised admission cell from University portal.
The college library has over 50000 books with 28000 titles. The library has an OPAC systemto provide easy access to the books and journals. E journals and e- books can be accessedthrough INFLIBNET. The Library has added 1506 books for this academic year. The collegehas adequate infrastructure to conduct classes and laboratories. In addition we procured 30high configuration computers with licensed softwares. The PG block and hostel arefacilitated with solar roof top (online grid10KVA) in collaboration with HAL & TERI (CSRinitiative) with BESCOM. The excess harvested power is pumped to BESCOM voluntary associal responsibility. All laboratories have been upgraded with high end equipments procuredunder DST-FIST and CPE like Impendence analyser, ELISA reader and Washer, Real timethermal cycler, temperature controlled orbital shaker and Network/ICT and computationalfacility.
Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) has been signed between Robust Materials, GRT Jewellers for Drinking water, Placement Cell in association DCE, Rotary, Natyapriya , Griddlle etc.,
Permanent faculty members are appointed by the Karnataka Public Service Commission. Vacantposition is informed to the Department of Collegiate Education, Government of Karnataka,which in turn is fulfilled by transferring faculty from other government colleges in the state.Guest faculty wherever required apply online on the website of the Commissionerate ofcollegiate education who release the merit list of the registered candidates. The guest faculty isthen appointed by the college after due verification of documents.
Permanent faculty salary is managed by Human Resource Management System and salary of few supporting staff is maintained through College Development Council Fund.

Being an affiliated college of Bangalore University, the college abides by the examinationrules laid down by the University. The University Portal is active towards studentenrolment. Internal marks, admission tickets through eMIS mode.
The University always encourages its affiliated colleges to obtain Autonomy. A selective teamis sent to the Affiliated Colleges who opt to obtain autonomy. The team scrutinises theapplication, visits the colleges and sends appropriate recommendations to the UGC. Thecollege has applied for autonomy in the year 2014-15. However our institution has beenconsidered to be upgraded to Cluster University under RUSA of MHRD.
The College has an active and registered alumni Association. Alumni Association collaborated with Rotary down town, provided safe drinking water to hostilities and
The association also conducted several programme for Capacity Building to students under the programme of “Finding You”.

The Heritage and the Annexe Building is equipped with natural lighting and ventilation andhence there is reduction in the need for electric fans. The campus also boasts of having greenand serene campus. Both the buildings of our campus equipped with incinerators, solid wastemanagement system etc., the ground water is recharged through rain water harvesting. TheHeritage, hostel and the annexe blocks are equipped with CCTV and solar lighting. Solarpower generation supports the annexe classrooms and laboratories. The college is lit with eco-friendly LED bulbs.
New experiments were introduced for students under Star College Scheme. Guiding students
to write science articles under the aegis of Savignana Vedike; guided students to presentproject work in conference. Encouraged and guided students to write articles in college newsletter Darpana and college magazine Chilume.
Students were mentored and guided, to conduct weekly assembly to promote public speaking
skills.
Student election was executed and students were selected as office bearers and also
representatives for sports and other forums, for smooth conduction of curricular and co-curricular activities.
Mentor system with a student – teacher ratio of 1:15, provides a platform for the students to
interact and discuss issues related to academics and others with their mentors.
Outstanding performance of the final year students of UG and PG courses in academics as
well as co-curricular activities are recognized and awarded Best out Going Students.
Miss Maharani contest/fest provides a podium to elicit the talents of the students.
Yoga module was administered to seed spiritual energy in the young minds and to facilitate
physical, mental & spiritual growth and stability.
Simple experiments beyond the syllabi was conducted and the findings were discussed with
CUBE, Orchid cultivation, Campus fauna diversity observation, Terrace gardening was doneby the students to enhance observation and entrepreneur skills.
Certificate course in Bharatanatyam and Beautician course are some of the practices followed
beyond the curriculum.
Implementation of DST-FIST, Star College Scheme, Centre for PotentialExcellence, has been initiated. Conducted quiz, seminar, essay competition, talentsweek, encouraged student project work and presentation of the same in nationalconference, cultural activities, organized National conference, industrial andInstitute visit.
The DCE conducts Computer training programs for supporting staff. The Government ofKarnataka has also made it compulsory for the teaching and supporting staff to pass theComputer Literacy Test.

I. Health screening was conducted in association with M.S. Ramaiah Hospital Objective: For the wellbeing of the students, health screening was conducted. Context: Our Institution caters to all sectors of the society. Majority of them are fromeconomically weaker sections and suffer from health issues.Practice: Regular screening was done for the day scholars as well as hostelites.Specialists like Gynaecologists, Ophthalmologists, Pathologists, General Physicianconducted general health check-up.Evidence of Success: Many students were diagnosed with anaemic, hypotension andgynaecological issues and were relevantly treated.Problems encountered and resources required: Dearth of the supporting staff.
II. The departments of the college were encouraged to organize seminars, conferencesand workshop to update with current scientific research.
1. Objective: Encouraging departments to organise seminars, workshop and conferencefrom various departments to keep abreast with current findings and to be trained withadvanced technical skills.
2. Context: Science, its concepts and theories are based on assumptions, evidences andpostulates. There is scope for their modulations based on research and hence it isessential to organise scientific meetings to expand current research information.
