Citation preview
Hola, Ambassadors!
Great things have been happening here in the
Fall Welcome Office! Prizes are getting
ordered and plans are being made. I can’t
believe that there are only 48 days until
Fall Welcome will be here!
If you didn’t know, this past month has been
Orientation Season. The Orientation Student
Leaders and Orientation Lead team just
finished up their 12th session of introducing
the new first-year students to Western
Michigan University. They did a great job this
year and we are so proud of them! (Keep
reading to hear more about them!)
Keep checking the Ambassador Facebook
page and the Fall Welcome Twitter! We are
always posting things for you guys: fun facts,
chances to win free stuff, and other cool things.

he was the Ackley/Shilling Hall Director. For the last 6
years he’s been the Orientation Coordinator. He is also a
POD during Fall Welcome Week and teaches an FYS class.
“Ambassadors, keep it real and be yourself. The new
students appreciate real-life stories and personal
experiences.”

This is her third year involved in Orientation; she has
served as an Orientation Student Leader, Student
Orientation Coordinator, and now the Orientation Intern.
She has also served as an FYS Student Instructor and a
Fall Welcome Ambassador for the past three years.
She is naturally blonde, studying abroad in Ireland for
summer II, and training for the 2014 Chicago Marathon.
“Ambassadors, make your #1 focus during Fall Welcome
Week to build connections with your first-year students
because you can be a great role model and resource for
them long past that one week. Also, celebrate the first-
year student who do come to everything, and do not
dwell on those who do not.”

Our lovely intern, Leah Thibaudeau, has
just accepted a great opportunity to
teach down in Arizona! We are all going
to miss her so much, but we know that
she is going to do some awesome things
there! Her students will be so lucky to
have her as a teacher. Tweet to Leah
@leaht1125 to wish her luck,
congratulate her, and share some
random facts about Arizona with her.
We love you Lee-Lee!
Since Leah will be rockin’ the Arizona
life soon, we got a new (old) intern
shipped to us! Kayla Webster is back!
Year: ∞
Studying Engineering and Japanese
She has been a Fall Welcome
Ambassador for 2 years, a Co-
Coordinator for 1 year, and an Intern for
two years.
She worked in the kitchen on the Titanic
and she is a stunt double for Jennifer
Lawrence. Not really. She ACTUALLY
has a cat named The Fatness and she
was born in Mississippi.
“The flower that blooms in adversity is
the most rare and beautiful of all.”

Name That Fridge! If you saw the last #FWF (Fall Welcome Friday)
you now know that we like to name things here
in the Fall Welcome Office. For example, our
phone’s name is Stella and our printer’s name is
Homer.
This year we are getting a new fridge that will
need a new name! (Below Stella is a picture of
our future fridge.) Tweet us your name ideas for
our new fridge to @WMUFallWelcome by
Thurs., July 10. The person who sends us the
perfect name will win a prize!
August 19 or August 21 – Early Move-In!
If you’re an FYS ambassador living on campus, you are able to move into your Residence Hall on August 19. All other

5:00 pm – 7:00 pm. When you arrive, go to your Hall Office to receive your keys. This early move in does not pertain to those
living in the Western View Apartments.
August 22-24 – Ambassador Training! Clear your whole schedule for all three days and get ready for
some fun training! More details will come as it gets closer.
August 25-29 – #FallWelcome2014! Also known as the best week of the year! Again, more details
will come later!
There will be ONE
