Why Are They Endangered? Sun Bears are endangered for many reasons and
unless we raise awareness, they will soon become extinct. Here are the reasons they are endangered:
Habitat Destruction! Sun Bears live in forests located in Southeast Asia. In this area there are a lot of burning for plantations and cutting down trees for new houses. This leaves the Sun Bears with no homes and sometimes with no food. Some Sun Bears have to go were plantations are located to get some food. This leaves the farmers really angry. Sometimes Sun Bears die because of this.
Sun bears are hunted and used in many forms of Chinese Medicine. Most commonly, they are hunted for their fur and their bile.
Sun bears are often hunted for their body parts, such as paws, fur and head. Sun bear cubs are kept and most times sold as pets to people through the black market. After they grow up and gain their wild side they are killed and if lucky released to the wild. Having no experience in the wild, most sun bears die.

Sun bears have adapted in many ways in order to not only survive, but to thrive. Because sun bears live in such hot and humid climates, their fur is short and sleek to help cool them down. Sun bears, -whose diet consists largely of termites and other small insects- have also obtained extremely long claws, which help them to take insects out of logs, tear open trees, and self-defense! Speaking of long, take a look at their tongues! Sun bears tongues can grow anywhere from 8-10 inches! Additionally, they have disproportionately large jaws and teeth so that they can crack open large hard fruits like coconuts.

Ways to help
Try not to burn for Plantation As mentioned before many farmers burn the forest so that they can plant their vegetables and fruits. When they burn the forest a lots of bears die and they also ended up with no homes or food. Lets talk to them
land that they used before.
Protect our Forests When you sbecause they want to make places for new houses or they need to make paper. To try to lessen this from happening let s try to reuse paper and recycle. If you
it.
Stop Buying Animal Products A lot of Sun Bears are killed for their fur and other parts of their body. There are a lot of people that go outside and buy carpets, coats and other items that are made with these things. If we stop buying items made by these things they are going to eventually going to stop selling it.
