The Amarok
2 – The Amarok
Cross-Country Mobility
3 – The Amarok
Selectable 4Motion All-Wheel DriveTough assignments call for efficient power management.
Which is exactly what the Amarok delivers. With optional
4Motion high/low all-wheel drive, the Amarok is able to
distribute driving force equally across the front and rear axles.
Additionally the Amarok’s heavy-duty leaf springs provide a high
level of safety for a payload of up to one tonne, as well as enabling
it to master rough terrain effortlessly. All it takes to experience
traction on rugged surfaces is the push of a button.
Permanent 4Motion All-Wheel DriveAvailable only in conjunction with the optional 8 speed
Automatic transmission, the Amarok with permanent 4Motion
all-wheel drive combines the advantages of improved driving
dynamics on paved roads with excellent off-road capabilities
and unrivalled fuel economy. First gear is optimised for off-road
use and pulling away when towing a trailer, while the higher
gears are designed for fuel efficient driving at lower revs.
4x2 Rear-Wheel DriveThe Amarok is equipped with rear-wheel drive as standard,
perfect for the uses for which it was designed. The rear-wheel
drive format enables steering that is not influenced by the
engine torque, resulting in a smaller steering radius. And
because a vehicle’s weight is transferred to the back during
acceleration, the Amarok’s default rear-wheel drive ensures
optimal road contact.

Safety & Comfort
5 – The Amarok
Safety FeaturesThe Amarok is built to handle even the toughest terrain,
and it does so comfortably thanks to its numerous safety
and driver assistance systems. Its next-generation Electronic
Stabilisation Program (ESP) with hill-start and hill-descent
assist sets a whole new standard. The off-road ABS ensures
controlled locking of the wheels, substantially reducing the
stopping distance without compromising manoeuvrability.
With features like dual front airbags plus front head/thorax
side airbags with head protection, Electronic Differential
Lock (EDL) and optional Rear Differential Lock (RDL),
every effort is made to ensure you’re safe in the Amarok –
on or off the road.
Driver & Passenger ComfortHowever tough a work assignment may be, nothing will
shake you in the Amarok. Its well appointed interior has
a comfort level more attuned to a passenger vehicle.
The premium look and feel of the dashboard, height-
adjustable front seats, optional leather upholstery, clever
stowage facilities and ample head and leg room in the front
and rear passenger seats are all features that ensure the
tough new Amarok is only tough on the outside.
ANCAP rating applies to Amarok Double Cab only.
6 – The Amarok
Performance & Capability
7 – The Amarok
The Amarok doesn’t just have a lot of character from the
outside, there is plenty of personality under the engine
compartment lid, too: You have the choice of a particularly
fuel efficient 2.0 l TDI diesel engine providing 340Nm* of
torque, while the powerful 2.0 l Twin Turbo TDI engine
delivers up to 420Nm* of torque – each equipped with
common rail technology for greater running smoothness
and optimal efficiency. Both versions have a 6-speed manual
gearbox as standard, while the Twin Turbo engine can be
combined with the innovative 8-speed automatic gearbox
upon demand.
Approach and departure angle
and wading depth. The Amarok
can brave steep hills as well
as deep puddles. It has an
impressive approach angle of 28°
and a departure angle of 23.6°
(28° without bumper) as well as a
wading depth of up to 500mm.
Ramp angle. The Amarok can
bring you over sticks and stones
safely. And over significantly
bigger things too. With a ramp
angle of 23°, even large obstacles
such as tree trunks and rocks are
no longer a problem.
Side slope angle. The Amarok
has an affinity for extremes and
can even handle roads with a
lateral tilt of approximately 50°.
Hill-climbing ability. One
thing the Amarok doesn’t do
is complain. A trailer load of
3 tonnes is no problem at
a 12% incline. With a payload
of one tonne, it can conquer
hills with a 100% (45°) incline.

9 – The Amarok
Why should work always come before comfort?
With the Amarok Double Cab, you’ll be able to carry enough
of everything you need and comfortably seat up to five people.
And that doesn’t mean work takes a back seat – a full sheet of
standard ply can be loaded crosswise on the load area – the
broadest in its category. And in case of rain, you can safely
store your work gear in the Double Cab, because the cinema-
style rear seating can be divided 1/3 to 2/3 and folded up
in part or entirely.
The Amarok offers that little bit extra at all times. Its generously
laid out leg and head room remains unequalled in this
category. As well as that, your tools and other handy bits and
bobs will also find a home inside, with lots of practical storage
trays to keep everything in an orderly manner.
Ergonomic InteriorInside the cabin the ‘spacer cloth’
upholstered seats, the MP3-compatible
CD player, and the semi-automatic
‘climatic’ air conditioning system keep you
comfortable, while the driver and front
passenger airbags along with front head/
thorax side airbags ensure your safety.
Sleek ExteriorAt first glance you’ll be greeted by the
stylish body-coloured front bumper and
16" steel rims. But the equipment levels
aren’t just cosmetic. The black-grained
rear bumper features an integrated step
that is moulded to the rear of the vehicle,
optimising ground clearance.

bumpers, the Highline is guaranteed to make an impression. The interior will also draw admiring glances from those who venture
closer, the multi-function steering wheel, gear lever knob and handbrake lever are leather-covered, while cruise control, bluetooth
and multi-function display are also standard features. High-quality ‘Vienna’ leather upholstery is also available on demand. When
you’re on the road, the superior sound system with six loudspeakers ensures great entertainment while the ‘Climatronic’ two-zone
automatic air conditioning system provides a pleasant, cool environment in which to enjoy all the Highline has to offer.

PaintTo ensure that your Volkswagen is protected from mechanical and chemical effects, the chassis is initially prepared with
warm baths. Only then do we apply the paint in several coats, letting it harden. The result is a scratch-resistant, tough
upper layer. This lets it look as good as new, even in the toughest of environments.
upholsteryHigh-quality, robust material and expert workmanship are paramount when it comes to the manufacture of durable seat
covers – and they are standard in every Volkswagen. Additionally, we offer you several colours and patterns that have been
carefully coordinated with the interiors and paintwork.
