The Easter season has begun! Today we celebrate a risen Jesus! We have shed our mourning, our purple garments, our abstinence and sacrificial disposition, welcoming the dawn of a new reality and a new order. And we step into the light of the first day of the new creation. The stone has been removed and everything that separated us from God was also removed. A great feat has happened; Christ rose from the dead in his present, altering the past and reshaping the future. Easter announces that there is a way out of the darkness of the grave and sin as we move into the wonderful light of the beatific vision, the New Jerusalem, the kingdom of God. In the resurrection of Jesus, God has made a promise. As his followers, God will breathe eternity into our bones. Human life is not limited by the cycle of birth and death. Easter is the promise that we have a future bigger than ourselves. As we open our hearts to the grace of Jesus, we must realize that we should not fear the grave. Oh death, oh death, where is your sting? Death does not have the last word. God has the last word! In the mystery of the Incarnation, God is in full solidarity with us. God takes on a human reality that allows us to enter into communion with Him. In the mystery of the cross Jesus experiences death in our humanity so that we can experience eternal life in his divinity. The mystery of his resurrection is a gift! The best way to thank God for such a magnificent gift, the gift of eternal life, is by opening our hearts to the risen Jesus and allowing ourselves to be sent into the world proclaiming the Good News of the love of Christ. We must appreciate God and Him in ordinary events and in those around us. On one occasion when I was little, on Easter morning, after attending mass, all the grandchildren would go to breakfast with my grandparents. Following, my grandparents would meet us in the living room. In the midst of our giggles, grandfather brought a box and opened it in front of all the grandchildren, letting out at least a dozen chicks dyed blue, for the boys and pink for the girls. All peace and decorum were broken. These chicks ran all over the living room and we chased after them to the joy of the adults and the dismay of the grandmother. Perhaps the resurrection of Jesus was as such; confusing, dramatic, deliberate, chaotic, joyous, and expected. When we return home, let us celebrate our Easter traditions with our loved ones; Easter eggs and bunnies, Easter breads and baked goods, spring colors, and family dinners. In the same spirit, let us return to the world with our neighbors, friends, co-workers and acquaintances. Hallelujah! Jesus has risen! Let us remember that we will all be transformed in the participation of the risen Lord!

¡Ha comenzado la temporada de Pascua! ¡Hoy celebramos a un Jesús resucitado! Nos hemos despojado de nuestro luto, de nuestras vestiduras púrpuras, de nuestra abstinencia y disposición sacrificial dando la bienvenida al amanecer de una nueva realidad y un nuevo orden. Y damos un paso hacia la luz del primer día de la nueva creación. La piedra ha sido removida y todo lo que nos separaba de Dios también fue removido. Ha ocurrido una gran hazaña; Cristo resucitó de entre los muertos en su presente, alterando el pasado y remodelando el futuro. La Pascua anuncia que hay un camino para salir de las tinieblas del sepulcro y del pecado a medida que avanzamos hacia la luz maravillosa de la visión beatífica, la Nueva Jerusalén, el reino de Dios. En la resurrección de Jesús, Dios ha hecho una promesa. Como sus seguidores, Dios soplará la eternidad en nuestros huesos. La vida humana no está limitada por el ciclo de nacimiento y muerte. La Pascua es la promesa de que tenemos un futuro más grande que nosotros mismos. Al abrir nuestro corazón a la gracia de Jesús, debemos darnos cuenta de que no

debemos temer a la tumba. Oh muerte, oh muerte, ¿Dónde está tu aguijón? La muerte no tiene la última palabra. ¡La última palabra la tiene Dios! En el misterio de la Encarnación, Dios se solidariza plenamente con nosotros.

Dios toma una realidad humana que nos permite entrar en comunión con Él. En el misterio de la cruz Jesús experimenta la muerte en nuestra humanidad para que podamos experimentar la vida eterna en su divinidad. ¡El misterio de su resurrección es un regalo! La mejor manera de agradecer a Dios por tan magnífico don, el don de la vida eterna, es abriendo nuestro corazón a Jesús resucitado y dejándonos enviar al mundo proclamando la Buena Nueva del amor de Cristo. Debemos apreciar a Dios y a Él en los eventos ordinarios

y en los que nos rodean. En una ocasión, cuando era pequeño, en la mañana de la Pascua, después de asistir a misa, todos los nietos iban a desayunar con mis abuelos. Seguido, mis abuelos nos

reunían en la sala de estar. En medio de nuestras risitas el abuelo traía una caja y la abría frente a todos los nietos dejando salir al menos una docena de pollitos teñidos de azul, para los niños y rosa para las niñas. Toda la paz y el decoro se rompían. Estos polluelos corrían por toda la sala de estar y nosotros los perseguíamos para alegría de los adultos y consternación de la abuela. Quizás la resurrección de Jesús fue como tal; confuso, dramático, deliberado, caótico, alegre y esperado. Al regresar a casa, celebremos con nuestros seres queridos nuestras tradiciones de Pascua; los huevos y conejitos de Pascua, los panes y productos horneados de Pascua, los colores primaverales, y las cenas familiares. Con el mismo espíritu volvamos al mundo con nuestros vecinos, amigos, compañeros de trabajo y conocidos. ¡Aleluya! ¡Jesús ha resucitado! ¡Recordemos que todos seremos transformados en la participación del Señor resucitado!

The Prayer Shawl Ministry meets every Wednesday in the Thiele Center from 10am to noon. This group knits and crochets prayer shawls while praying individually and as a group for the recipient of each shawl. These shawls

represent a visible symbol of our prayers and presence. Shawls have been given to those facing challenging times, illness or to celebrate a special moment to bring the comfort and warmth of God’s love and healing. El Ministerio Mantas de Oración se reúne todos los miércoles en el Centro Pastoral de 10am a medio día. Este grupo hace mantas de oración hechos de tejido o de ganchillo mientras rezan individualmente y como grupo para que el receptor de cada manta. Estas mantas representan un símbolo visible de nuestras oraciones y presencia. Las mantas se han dado a aquellos que enfrentan tiempos difíciles, enfermedad o para celebrar un momento especial para llevar el apoyo y la calidez del amor de Dios y la sanación. Baptisms Parents, we invite you to baptize your child as soon as possible after he/she is born (about 6-8 weeks old). 1. Parents must register for the baptism at the parish

office in person with the baby’s original birth certificate. At this time, they will select a day for the Christian Parenting Class in which both the parents and godparents are asked to attend. There is a fee for the class which should be paid in full on the day of registration.

2. Classes are once a month, so please plan to register about 4 weeks ahead!

3. The English Class is the 1st Wednesday of the month. The Spanish Class is the 1st Thursday of the month.

4. Baptisms in English are celebrated on the 4th Sunday of the month at 2:00pm. Baptisms in Spanish are celebrated on the 3rd Sunday of the month at 2:00pm. Private Baptisms can only be scheduled by the Pastor.

5. If your child is 7 years of age or older they must register for Catechism.

Cotillions Plan 6 months ahead! Parents wishing to celebrate their child’s Cotillion must be aware that no young person is allowed to celebrate their cotillion in Church unless they are confirmed FIRST. It takes at least TWO YEARS of CCD classes before a young person is confirmed. The following are requirements to celebrate a Cotillion and/or Sweet Sixteen at St. Aloysius:

Parents must schedule an appointment with the Pastor and present their child’s Confirmation Certificate at which time the date and time of the event will be decided. Their daughter must be present at this appointment.

Quinceañeras Preparase 6 meses antes Los padres que desean celebrar los quince años de su hija deben estar conscientes que no se permite a ninguna persona joven celebrar sus quince años en la iglesia a menos que esté confirmada PRIMERO. Se toma por lo menos DOS AÑOS de clases de catecismo antes de que se

confirme a un joven. Los siguientes son los requisitos para celebrar una Quinceañera en la Parroquia de San Luis Gonzaga:
