Today’s gospel speaks about our heavenly Father not giving up. In His desire to save humanity He incurs into a series of plans and devices to bring us the light. In the same way that the landowner sends his different messengers to his vineyard, God in the Old Testament has sent patriarchs, prophets, holy men and women, signs and omens to carry out his plan of salvation. Humanity was too busy, too blind or too stubborn to see this as they always returned to the old ways. Finally in the New Testament and in dramatic gesture, God our Creator sends His only begotten Son, who gets crucified, the heights expression of rejection.

Rejection is at the heart of what goes against the nature of God. It is darkness, emptiness and ultimately intrinsically evil. There is no more intense pain than that of being rejected. It strikes directly at the heart of anyone creating a painful and in some instances an unbearable wound. Rejection is the heart of the denial of the goodness of humanity and the denial of the goodness of God.

The “you” in the gospel is addressed to the Israelite leadership at the time of Jesus, those whom rejected God’s plan of salvation by sending His only begotten Son. They rejected not only the Messianic reality embodied in Jesus, but God’s way of doing things. They didn’t understand His designs and they acted upon it. They rejected the Divine.

We are exposed to the truth that God has done everything possible for us to be secure, to be redeemed, to be saved. But the fact remains that humanity continues rejecting Jesus. For instance when I see the massive destruction taking place in the Middle East where thousands of civilians get kicked out of their homes and “relocated”, strangled by political and economic embargo… when they get killed we continue rejecting Jesus. We continue rejecting that angular stone necessary for the construction of the civilization of love so much announced and proclaimed in the Good News; that the Kingdom of God is for all.

His Son made provisions to remain with us. By His passion, cross, death, and resurrection he left us the necessary tools to become closer to our Heavenly Father. He left us His body to be healed, purified and nourished. He left us His Church so that we may gather in a reality visible and tangible. He left us our free will so that we can choose what is right with the utmost sense of liberty. So as we see God isn’t finished with us… God isn’t about to give up.

One day we shall reject no more. One day we shall never be rejected. God will continue going after us, his most precious possession, and embrace us with a heavenly kiss… As the first fruits of the new creation…

El evangelio de hoy nos dice que nuestro Padre celestial no se rinde. En su deseo por salvar a la humanidad incurre en una serie de planes e instrumentos para traernos la luz. De la misma manera que el terrateniente envía diferentes mensajeros a su viña, Dios en el Antiguo Testamento ha enviado patriarcas, profetas, hombres y mujeres santos, signos y presagios para llevar a cabo su plan de salvación. La humanidad estaba demasiado ocupada, demasiado ciega o demasiado obstinada para ver esto, ya que siempre volvían a los viejos caminos. Finalmente en el Nuevo Testamento y en un gesto dramático, Dios nuestro Creador envía a Su Hijo unigénito, que es crucificado, la expresión más alta del rechazo.

El rechazo está en el centro de lo que va en contra de la naturaleza de Dios. Es oscuridad, vacío y finalmente, intrínsecamente maléfico. No hay dolor más intenso que el de ser rechazado. Golpea directamente el corazón de cualquier persona creando una herida dolorosa y en algunos casos

insoportable. El rechazo está al corazón de la negación de la bondad del ser humano y la negación de la bondad de Dios. El "tú" en el evangelio está dirigido al liderazgo israelita en el tiempo de Jesús, aquellos que

rechazaron el plan de salvación de Dios, quien envió a su Hijo unigénito. No sólo rechazaron la realidad mesiánica encarnada en Jesús, sino la manera de Dios de hacer las cosas. No entendieron sus designios y actuaron según su creencia. Ellos rechazaron lo Divino. Somos conocedores de la verdad en donde Dios ha hecho todo lo posible para que estemos protegidos, para ser redimidos, para ser salvados. Pero el hecho es que la humanidad sigue rechazando a Jesús. Por ejemplo, cuando veo la destrucción masiva que tiene lugar en el Medio Oriente, donde miles de civiles son expulsados

de sus hogares y "reubicados", estrangulados por el embargo político y económico ... Cuando se les mata, continuamos rechazando a Jesús. Continuamos rechazando esa piedra angular necesaria para la construcción de la civilización del

amor tan anunciada y proclamada en la Buena Nueva; que el reino de Dios es para todos.

Su Hijo hizo provisiones para permanecer con nosotros. Por su pasión, cruz, muerte y resurrección nos dejó las herramientas necesarias para acercarnos a nuestro Padre Celestial. Él nos dejó Su Cuerpo para que seamos sanados, purificados y alimentados. Él nos dejó Su Iglesia para que nos podamos reunir en una realidad visible y tangible. Él nos dejó nuestro libre albedrío para que podamos elegir lo que es correcto con el máximo sentido de la libertad. Así pues, podemos ver que Dios no ha terminado con nosotros... Dios no está a punto de darse por vencido.

Un día no rechazaremos nunca más. Un día nunca más seremos rechazados. Dios continuará persiguiéndonos, su posesión más preciada, y nos abrazará con un beso celestial... Como los primeros frutos de la nueva creación...

Reopening Framework requirements for Modified On-Site or Hybrid Programming

The maximum number of gatherings for each student cohort is one time per month through the remainder of 2020. It is recommended that parishes set a minimum of fifteen hours of required instructional programming, allowing for smaller cohorts which meet less frequently. Recruit non-vulnerable volunteers at the parish level to assist the pastor and parish catechetical leader in implementing the Plan (when restarting any on-site programming). Members of the Health & Safety Reopening Team are to complete training by way of a webinar. The training will be available in early August (date is TBD) and will be recorded if team members are unable to attend live. Each parish is to complete a Reopening Requirements Checklist to the AOC Certification Team confirming completion of all action steps. The AOC Certification Team will provide confirmation that a program has been approved/certified for an in-person program. A certification of readiness to reopen will be required of each religious education program. Once the parish catechetical leader has completed the Reopening Requirements Checklist, they can submit a certification of preparedness (signed by the pastor, parish catechetical leader, and members of the Health & Safety Reopening Team) for approval to reopen. The Checklist will then be reviewed by the AOC Certification Team, which will grant the certification to the religious education program. Certification will occur between the dates of August 17 and September 4. Through ongoing discussions with pastors, catechetical leaders, principals, health care professionals and civil authorities, there will be an ongoing review of the Framework with an eye to making adjustments in accord with new data, guidelines, or developments.

Right of Christian Initiation for Adults

RCIA is designed for adults 17 and older who are considering joining the Catholic Church through celebrating the sacraments of initiation (Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist) at the Easter Vigil. The process welcomes adults who have never been baptized or have been baptized in another Christian tradition, and those who have been baptized in the Roman Catholic Church and need to receive one of the sacraments of initiation. MASS REGISTRATIONS GUIDELINES We would like to thank all our parishioners and friends who have been calling and registering online in advance in order to attend all our services. Here are some reminders on guidelines for Mass Registrations:

You must call or register online or by email in advance. You may begin to call the parish office at 773-278-4808 as early as Monday after 1:30pm on the same week as the Mass you wish to attend. Our online registrations also begin on Mondays after 1:30pm on www.signupgenie.com. You may also register by sending an email to: office@staloysiusparish.org.

Registrations will close on Fridays at 1:30pm both at the office, online and by email.

Our office hours are Monday through Friday from 9:00am to 5:00pm (closed for lunch from 12:30pm to 1:30pm).

Please note: Please do not call on Saturday since we are busy doing things in Church. Please do not call on Sunday - our office is closed on Sunday and there is no one here to take your call. We need sufficient time to generate the list for our greeters. We are required to make sure that we have sufficient information for contact tracing. We wish to thank our volunteers (Greeters, Cleanup and Setup) who are here for every service no matter the time or day. You have made this process easy and efficient. If you wish to volunteer for Greeters or Cleanup, please call the parish office. We are always looking for volunteers in order to give our current volunteers a well deserved day off.
