MAGGIE ANDERSONThe Afri-Touch, LLC, and its sponsors presents it’s ‘Wisdom Sharing Speaker Series’ featuring Maggie Anderson of the Empowerment Experiment and Author of “Our Black Year : Buying Black in America's Racially Divided Economy”(2012, Public Affairs Publishing).

In 2009, an experiment was launched and history was made. The family of Maggie Anderson, a native of Miami, demonstrated that African Americans businesses can be prosperous, as they utilized a real case study in self-help economics. With the commitment of this family’s investment in utilizing services and purchasing products of black owned businesses for one year, they added value to both small and large black businesses. The landmark study was conducted by Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Business. She has become the voice of American consumers of all backgrounds who desire to make sure their buying power positively impacts struggling minority communities.

On October 11, 2012, from 6:30pm until 8:30pm, we will have the awesome pleasure of hosting Maggie Anderson at the Addie Green Room of the Mary McDonald Wilson Center at Gaines Park Recreation Center. She is the author of the book “Our Black Year,” and founder of The Empowerment Experiment (EE) and The Empowerment Experiment Foundation, Inc. (EEF).

Maggie has appeared on CNN, MSNBC, Fox News, C-SPAN, and many other national television and radio shows. She has partners such as the National Urban League, the US Black Chamber of Commerce, and regional Minority Supplier Development Councils across the country. Mrs. Anderson was also a keynote speaker for this year’s National Congressional Black Caucus in Washington, D.C. Bringing Mrs. Anderson to our city allows us to be a part of history.Tickets are $10.00 and are available in advance by calling (561) 249-0674 or by emailing [email protected].
