Some changes have occurred since our Last Newsletter, Andrew Gilder who had been our IPSC Captain (also Club Treasurer and Board Member) stepped aside as his business com-mitments did not allow him to put in the effort he wanted to as Captain.

The IPSC group met at a meeting convened by Rafal the Club Secretary, from that meeting, Phillip Wegener was elected as IPSC Captain, Ryan Brown and Matt Draganoff as IPSC Vice Captains, this is an ideal mix of person-nel and spreads the workload. Thanks must go to Andrew Gilder for his efforts in his time as Captain, known as both Fearless Leader and Captain Spud, Andrew put new life into the section and the group is thriving now, after some troubled times.

Ranges 12, 13,14 have had the western action facades moved into a staging area immediate-ly North of the IPSC shedding in a holding mode, they will be moved into Range 17 when preparations in 17 are complete. Thanks to Phil Wegener for moving these facades, a skil-ful bobcat operator and all round lateral think-er Phil achieved this almost solely, a great start to the New Ranges planned.

any help members would offer on this major project, so step up and help with construction if you see Trevor or Leon they will organise you...

Jason Markowski is looking for ISSF shoot-ers to grow the section and Information on the Notice Board inside the Clubhouse gives the Programme and much other information on the section and how members can be helped. Coaching and instruction is also available.

Air Pistol Range upgrade is in process the ex-tra level of protective steel plate has been at-tached to the wall and now needs preparation and painting to finish the job off.

The Southern section of the Rifle Range, that is the area south of the Bunds on Range 15 and 16 has been cleared of trees and the Club hired a local contractor to pull the many stumps that are heaped up for burning next winter . Front-line Earthmovers are delivering earth daily as it becomes available and will assist in building the Bunds.

VALE Lyle Washington.

Sadly long term member Lyle Washington passed away since our last newsletter, Lyle was a long time member of the Club, a real character and good friend and mentor to many. Several Officials of the Club attended his funeral service with many members also and many others of the Shooting Fraternity

attended also.

“Colonel Colt” as Lyle was known was ex RAN and his funeral service was a fitting tribute. Greg Pill, our Club Armourer and long time friend of Lyle spoke after the Chaplains service and

delivered a heartfelt eulogy.

The Club has purchased a new Spray unit for weed control and fire breaks, the old spray unit finally died, and with the 200 x 50 me-ter piece of land that is shaping into the Rifle Range the extra capacity of the new unit will be needed to control the growth as the base settles, the new unit has a 4 meter boom spray to get control of seasonal growth and to make fire breaks.

Nicholas Gunn and his wife Jo were delivered a little bundle of Joy and sister for Olivia re-cently, baby Isabelle arrived safely and well, people who know Nick at the Club, will know he is our Resident Chef and is a keen shooter and already shooting good scores, I am sure all members wish Nick and his family all the best with their latest edition , “son of a Gunn” maybe next.

Subs are now overdue and must be paid as the Club is required to send SAPOL a list of unfinancial members after September 30. If no arrangements were made prior to 30th Au-gust then after 30th September, members who didn’t pay their subs risk losing their H Class Licence if they are unfinancial.

Captain’s CornerLeon OvensThe Club is planning some new shirts both

long and short sleeves with a pocket and if required your name and discipline around the pocket area. If you are interested catch up with Carrie, Juro or myself for more information. These shirts will be very different from any-thing previously on offer.

As Brian Zanker is no longer our ”rubbish raider” I would ask that the section captains along with members of these disciplines to or-ganise to clean their respective ranges. Drink containers can be returned to the storage bags within the store/workshop area, any scrap steel to the holding area north of the IPSC area and burnable waste to the western end of the car park. Please be mindfull of rubbish left in this area is not left to blow around the club grounds. If necessary leave it in the bin until disposal and the bins can be returned to the ranges. Thanks Brian for your past efforts.

By the time you are able to read this the Club

will have had its first invitational Steel Chal-lenge match and to those who made it possible thank you for the time and effort you afford-ed to the task. If you were able to participate and enjoyed the event let a committee member know your thoughts on it and if was a success more events can be planned. Perhaps a State or National title could eventuate from a fun match as this was meant to be.

The protection plates on the Club chrono sight screen bar have been abused and are in need of repair and until this is carried out it will be out of action. If the shots get much lower i can see the sight screens being taken out then it will become expensive.

Working Bee’s. Yep by popular demand they are back on the list and it won’t be too far away. Dates will put up on the white board along with the most pressing tasks to be un-dertaken.

AP&SC will be holding aDoubles Air Pistol Competition

on Sunday 9th November 2014.

The idea of the competition is for AP&SC members to invite a friend or someone in their family to be their doubles partner.

Air pistol is a great starting point for some-

one new to shooting and it is also a challeng-ing match for any level of shooter. Juniors are welcome but must be 12 years or older to compete. A registration of interest form will be on the notice board. Each competitor starts with 60 pellets and 6 paper targets and must submit their 2 best targets for scoring. For more information look on the notice board or speak to Carrie.
