From The Pastor’s Pen- December 2013

It is hard to comprehend that the end of the year is in sight! This year has flown by faster than any year I’ve ever known with so much

going on in our church family, my family, and in my own life.

How do you get prepared for the holiday season? We get out our

calendars and wonder how we will get it all done. There’s parties to attend, shopping to be done, houses to be cleaned and decorated,

meals to fix, programs to attend, cards to send, and the list goes on and on. We scour the adds and look for new recipes wondering if

“they would like a change this year?”

We have traditions that we must follow or somebody will get their feelings hurt... will it be cranberry salad or fresh cranberries? Why

not cook a roast instead of turkey or ham, or better yet... not cook at all and go out for Christmas dinner?

As we prepare ourselves for the Christmas Season there’s so much

that comes into our view. Some is great and some is disturbing.

When we truly focus on the very important things, the rest remains really unimportant.

Here it is in a nutshell... or a crib. “God loved the world so much that

He gave His one and only son, so that whoever believes on Him will have everlasting life.” Receive and Believe. Believe and Receive. It is

pretty easy when the focus is where it needs to be. So look to the manger and see the simplicity of it all. God loved us and gave to

us... and then take the gift and use it to touch the world in ways that will bring glory to Him...

Thank you Oakland Baptist Church Family for your love and ministry

to my family and our community. You make God look good by the way you show your love to the world. May God’s peace bring you

strength and hope this Christmas season...

It’s a joy to serve Jesus as your Pastor....
