Today, The Banff Centre is the largest arts and creativity incubator on the planet. Each year, we welcome 3,000 professional artists to explore their creative practices; 2,400 leading thinkers to focus on advancing knowledge; 1,700 business, Indigenous, non-profit and government leaders seeking to strengthen their capacity for innovation and community development; and up to 20,000 conference guests who recognize the Centre as a place of inspiration. Our multidisciplinary programming enables artists, leaders, and researchers from Canada and around the world to think dynamically, to dream big, to tackle tough questions, and to lead. At the Centre, artists and leaders are immersed in a collaborative community and offered the learning, experience, and mentorship they need to take their careers or organizations to the next level. Our founders’ vision was grounded in the principles of excellence and access. So is our future. To this end, the Centre’s goal is to provide full funding for artists and not-for- profit participants based upon ability, not financial capacity. A FUNDRAISING EVENT UNLIKE ANY OTHER Our flagship fundraising event, the Midsummer Ball Weekend, showcases the best of our multi- faceted participants and programming and plays an essential role in supporting our Banff Centre Artists’ Fund, transforming the lives of some of the world’s most talented artists. This highly anticipated weekend affair is a must on the social calendars of many of Canada’s leaders, attracting more than 330 guests and raising over $1.285 million in 2014. Offering inspiring social, cultural, and recreational activities in a UNESCO World Heritage site, The Banff Centre Midsummer Ball Weekend is Canada’s single most successful arts fundraising event. Funds raised through the Ball Weekend provide essential support for talented artists – in the areas of theatre, opera, dance, music, literary arts, visual arts, film and media arts, and Indigenous arts – from across Canada and around the world to attend The Banff Centre’s outstanding professional development programs. The 36th Banff Centre Midsummer Ball Weekend takes place from July 24-26, 2015. Your sponsorship investment will directly support talented artists and leaders who will continue to inspire others in their communities and beyond. “At The Banff Centre, I was given an identity card that had my picture on it and underneath it said, ‘Artist’.You can’t imagine how important that is … We are treated with respect, given freedom to work, and support services to help us along. It is a gift that I will cherish.” — Michael S. Armstrong, BC writer Artists’ Fund recipient Published January 13, 2015
