Tall Oaks FarmTall Oaks Farm has been selected as the recipient of the 2015 Breeder of the Year Award, sponsored by Ontario Racing.
Ivan Dalos co-owns Tall Oaks Farm with his wife Irene and their three daugh-ters and have been in the breeding business for almost 30 years.
The 2015 racing season was an outstanding one for Ivan Dalos and Tall Oaks Farm, with their breeding operation producing 24 winners, 22 seconds and 25 thirds from 176 starts with almost $2,000,000 in earnings. Highlights from 2015 include Amis Gizmo, who was bred and raced by Ivan Dalos and won four Stakes races, the OLG Simcoe S., Bull Page S., Frost King S. and Kingarvie S. He was also Tall Oaks top earner for the year. Other notable Stakes winners include; Ami’s Mesa winner of the Glorious Song S., Conquest Enforcer winner of the Cup and Saucer S. and Gamble’s Ghost winner of the G3 Mazarine S.
2015 was a fantastic year for Tall Oaks Farm, and the CTHS Ontario would like to congratulate them on their outstanding achievement.
Theodore (Ted) BurnettTheodore (Ted) Burnett, owner of Josham Farms Limited has been unanimously selected to receive the Blood-Horse’s Mint Julep Cup in recognition of his dedication and lifetime contributions to the Thoroughbred Horse Industry.
Ted Burnett is a well-known Ontario Breeder through his Josham Farms and he is also the President of Burnac Corporation, a multi-faceted and well-known Canadian Corporation that is involved in commercial and residential real estate, retail and also wholesale produce. Before all of his success within business and the horse industry, Ted went to the University of Toronto and received both his Bachelor’s Degree (in Economics) and a Doctorate of Law at the University’s Law School. Once into the Horse Industry, in the mid-70’s, Ted along with his good friend, John Sikura, Jr., arranged a syndicate and bid a record US $1.5 million for a Secretariat Colt at the 1976 Keeneland Yearling Sale. The horse was named Canadian Bound and became the first Thoroughbred Yearling to be sold for more than US $1 million. Ever since then, Josham Farms and Ted have grown to be one of Ontario’s most prominent Breeders, having bred many Ontario-bred Stakes Winners and three Champions. Josham Farms has been a CTHS member for over 35 years and continues to be one of the major contributors to the Ontario Horse Racing Industry.
The CTHS Ontario is proud to honour Ted Burnett with the well-deserved Mint Julep Cup for his lifetime dedication and commitment to the Horse Industry.
