THE NATIONAL DOWN SYNDROME SOCIETY and

BUDDY WALK® PROGRAM The National Down Syndrome Society was founded in 1979 to ensure that all people with Down Syndrome are provided the opportunity to achieve their full potential in life. The mission is to promote the value, acceptance and inclusion of people with Down syndrome nationwide. The BUDDY WALK® was created by The National Down Syndrome Society in 1995 to celebrate Down Syndrome Awareness month in October. It is the premier advocacy event in the United States and the world’s most widely recognized public awareness pro-gram for Down syndrome. The Buddy Walk® is a trade-marked program of the National Down Society. For more information visit their web site at www.ndss.org or www.buddywalk.org. The Buddy Walk® of Buffalo Niagara soon followed in 1996 as a kickoff of the National program to promote a greater awareness and advocacy for individu-als and families of children born with Down Syndrome in WNY. The Buddy Walk® of Buffalo-Niagara is coordinat-ed through the efforts of The Family & Friends Down Syndrome Association of Niagara County, Inc. Our great-est supporters are you; families, friends, and volunteers who may know someone with Down Syndrome. Your contribution has helped to raise positive community awareness and continues to help “open-doors” for the inclusion and participation of people with Down syn-drome in all aspects of community life. So won’t you please join our efforts and celebrate with us again this year on Sept. 7, 2019! We are proud to take part each year in the Lewiston Kiwanis Peach Festival and Parade! Our children and families enjoy a day of celebration, friend-ship, rides, refreshments, prizes and so much more. Please mark your calendars and join us on Sept. 7, 2019!
