 Madrid, 12 February 2020–The Haro Station Wine Experience presented today thefourth edition of the great gourmet festival, to be held on 20 June in Haro. It will once againbe an unforgettable day, thanks to the brilliant wine and food proposal that the six winerieshave arranged for an event that will be enjoyed by more than 3,500 visitors from all over theworld.

 

The Haro Station Wine Experience has revealed the great wines that each winery has chosen forthe occasion: Monopole Clásico 2017 and Imperial Reserva 2016, by CVNE, Viña Pomal GranReserva 2012 and Lumen Reserva 2017, by from Bodegas Bilbaínas Viña Pomal, Flor de Muga2019 and Muga Reserva Selección Especial 2015, by Bodegas Muga, Montes Obarenes Blanco2016 and Honorable 2016, by Bodegas Gómez Cruzado, Viña Arana Gran Reserva 2012 and ViñaArdanza 2010 Selección Especial, by La Rioja Alta, S.A, and RODA 2016 and RODA I 2015 byBodegas RODA.

An offering of great wines accompanied by truly luxurious cuisine by the chefs of some of themost significant restaurants in the country, known for their exceptional wine lists and forconsidering wine an essential component of their culinary proposal. The Roca brothers (ElCeller de Can Roca), the Echapresto brothers (Venta Moncalvillo), Iñaki Murúa and CarolinaSánchez (Íkaro), Eneko Atxa (Azurmendi), Josean Alija (Nerua) and Julio Miralles (Zalacaín)are the chefs whose tapas will accompany this year's great wines. The sweet ending will beprovided by the master chocolatier and confectioner from La Rioja, Juan Ángel Rodrigálvarez.

The presentation in Madrid also revealed another of the great new features of this fourthedition. It is the celebration the day before, Friday 19 June, of an exclusive mastertasting led by the sommelier Josep Roca, 2020 Engine Driver of the Year, open tothe public, but with limited capacity, for which it will be necessary to purchase a ticket inadvance.

Roca expressed his delight, adding that "it is a source of pride to have received the title of 2020Engine Driver of the Year. For me it is a huge opportunity to be a part, as ambassador, of a veryimportant event that offers happiness linked to the land. The Haro Station Wine Experience isthe most important wine event that can be shown to the world. It teaches that wine is alive, thatit is a lifestyle, a way of showcasing the landscape and making it known to everyone.”

The president of the Station District Association, María Urrutia, reiterated that "we are veryhappy with this fourth edition of the Haro Station Wine Experience, in which the commitmentto haute cuisine is impressive, amply reinforced by an exceptional Engine Driver of the Year,Pitu Roca. I can't help but encourage everyone to experience it on 20 June, as it will be amemorable event.

Ms Urrutia also announced the new impetus to be given to the Day for Professionals in the HaroStation Wine Experience, which, in 2020, will be held on Monday 27 April with hundreds ofprofessionals (sommeliers, restaurateurs, distributors and journalists, among others) who willbe able to enjoy the latest wines on the market from the six wineries, as well as their upcominglaunches.

 

The presentation of this fourth edition of the Haro Station Wine Experience in Madrid wasattended by the Regional Minister of Agriculture of the Government of La Rioja, Eva Hita, whowished to accompany the representatives of the six wineries which comprise this unique wineenclave: CVNE's marketing director, María Urrutia; Bodegas Muga's co-owner, Eduardo Muga;Bodegas RODA's general director, Agustín Santolaya; Bodegas Bilbaínas Viña Pomal's technicaldirector, Mayte Calvo de la Banda; Gómez Cruzado's viticulture manager and director, JuanAntonio Leza; and the president of La Rioja Alta, S.A., Guillermo de Aranzábal.

 

The Haro Station Wine Experience

Every two years, the Station District opens its doors to welcome this great celebration thatbrings together the wineries CVNE, Gómez Cruzado, La Rioja Alta, S.A., Viña Pomal BodegasBilbaínas, Bodegas Muga and Bodegas RODA, on an unforgettable day where Rioja wine andcuisine are the true key players. The event has been very well received by the national andinternational press and critics, winning the Innovative Wine Tourism Experiences Best of WineTourism award given by the Great Wine Capitals Global Network in 2015, the Prize for the BestWine Tourism Experience at the International Wine Challenge Awards Spain and the RiojaCapital Award for a Unique Initiative granted by the Government of La Rioja in 2016. Morerecently, the Haro Station Wine Experience earned the 2018 award for Best Wine TourismInitiative given by Wine Routes of Spain and the Mass Vino association of media winecommunicators Best Wine Tourism Experience of the Year award.
