The popularity of the IFCPower Woman Top 100 listin 2013 encouraged us to

bump it up a notch. This year weare honouring 200 of the mostpowerful women in government,private wealth, private clientadvisory and philanthropy acrossthe international financial centres(IFCs).

Listed alphabetically byjurisdiction and name, the listhas been compiled from a

number of sources. Part of theresearch was generated by lastyear’s list and the 2013 edition ofthe Citywealth Leaders List. Thiswas combined withrecommendations from leadingfigures in the financial serviceindustry.

The list focuses on influencers aswell as professionals andcelebrates powerful women fromdiverse backgrounds. Itrecognises women of

achievement who are opinionformers, helping to promotebusiness excellence in theirhome jurisdiction andconsolidating the reputations ofthe financial services industryglobally. Coming from a poor country,with no education and nota lot of money is difficult.

But what if it’s a life or deathsituation? Fayza, a Sudanesemother of five children gave birth totwins who were conjoined at thehip and chest. She only found outwhen they were born, and to have achance to keep them both alive andgo through therapy, the entirefamily moved from Sudan toLondon.

Fayza went to the hospitalalmost every day for years to givethe twins the necessary care, bothsurvived and now are graduatesfrom university. Fayza’s daughter,Mona was inspired by herchildhood experience and this wasthe basis for her wanting tobecome a paediatrician. A dreamshe fulfilled herself, she started outat a public school in a poorerLondon neighborhood andeventually graduated from ImperialCollege. Fayza continues to be adriving force and 'COO' of herwider family – a true power woman.

Education is key for contributingto a country’s development andBaer Karrer are supporting a charityproject of the development of anelementary school opening inOmdurman, Sudan. This meansthat children who come from verypoor families will be able to attendschool by subsidising their schoolfees. All donations are invested inthe schools and Baer Karrerpromise that every donor willreceive a hand-made Mr. Monkey,made by volunteers who want tohelp the charity project.
