Editorial Thanks Earl D uring the last year Earl Groshart has been contributing a monthly column lentitled "Finishing in the Green" in which he explored options fi)r toxic and hazardous materials used in finishing including cadmium and chro- mium replacements, paint strippers without methylene chloride, and paints with less solvent. Unfortunately, due to ill health, Earl will be unable to continue to write on a regular basis for Metal Finishing. Long-time readers will remember t!iarl's earlier columns including "Design for Finishing," which reviewed the properties and the specification of various coatings, such as electroless nickek tin, anodize, cadmium, silver, zinc, chro- mium, and others. He also considered precautions to be taken in the finishing of high-strength steels, designs with dissimilar metals, and finishing dimensions. One series of articles discussed the forms of corrosion preventive measures to be taken, and methods for testing. Our best wishes to Earl on his pending retirement and our heartfelt thanks for his many contributions to the pages of Metal Finishing. Editor
