Celebrating the SeasonManyschoolsusingRoots and FruitswillalsobefollowingtheChurchcalendarand ononeweekofthetermwillbecelebratingtheappropriateChristianfestival.Oneoftheacts ofworshipineachunitisthereforewrittentoprovideaframeworkforCelebrating the Season.
YearBTerm1takesasitsfocustheChristianvalueofThankfulnessandwillincludethecelebrationofHarvestFestival.
PreparationwillbeneededtoenabletheCelebrating the Seasonactsofworshiptobeasinteractiveaspossible.
Introduction to Harvest FestivalThemodernBritishtraditionofcelebratingHarvestFestivalinchurchesbeganin1843,whentheReverendRobertHawkerinvitedparishionerstoaspecialthanksgivingserviceatthevillageofMorwentstowinCornwall.Victorianhymnssuchas‘Weploughthefieldsandscatter’and‘Allthingsbrightandbeautiful’helpedtopopularisehisideaofHarvestFestivalandspreadtheannualcustomofdecoratingchurcheswithhome-grownproducefortheHarvestFestivalservice.
