MESSAGE FROM COMMITTEE

CHAIRS

Welcome Curlers and Coaches to the 2021 Combined Men’s & Women’s Curling Championships. The Kamloops Curling Club and McArthur Island Curling Club, along with the organizing committee, have worked hard to ensure this championship is a rewarding and safe experience. Thank you to Kruger, Best Western, the City of Kamloops, Curl BC and our local sponsors for their support of this Championship. Without their support these events would not be possible.

We would also like to extend a special thank you to the mem-bers of the host committee and all the volunteers for their time and dedication to making this a successful event.

To the teams competing, we wish you good luck and good curl-ing. Have fun and stay safe. Sociable....but from a distance.

Brenda Nordin and Linda Bolton 2021 Event Co-Chairs

On behalf of Curl BC, thank you for supporting the 2021 Scotties BC Women’s Curling Championship, presented by Best Western, and the 2021 BC Men’s Curling Cham-pionship in Kamloops.

This has been a difficult year. There is no doubt. But over the past year we have still found ways enjoy our favourite sport and to celebrate the 125th anniversary of curling.

And we are so thrilled to be able to run this event, despite all the challenges. This week will feature 15 BC women’s curling teams and 16 BC men’s curling teams vying for the national Scotties Tournament of Hearts and Brier. We know it hasn’t been easy for anyone to make this work, but we are proud of the athletes, the coaches, the volunteers and our clubs for doing everything in their power to make it a reality.

The host committee led by Linda Bolton and Brenda Nordin, and with the as-sistance of Kamloops Curling Club Manager Rob Nordin and McArthur Island Curling Club Manager Andrew McDiarmid, among others, have done a spec-tacular job preparing for this event. They did a phenomenal job dealing with all the curveballs that Covid-19 created. We are so grateful for them and all the volunteers for all the time they have dedicated to making this event a success.

We also want to thank our broadcast crew from Roll Focus Productions and our broadcast partners at CHEK for their work to give our fans access to this event. We couldn’t be happier to have you here and have our event featured on CHEK, CFJC Kamloops and CKPG Prince George as well as cbc.ca.

I’d like to thank all of the sponsors and supporting organizations who have helped to make this event possible, especially Kruger, Best Western and the City of Kamloops. I would also like to thank the Government of British Colum-bia and our partners at viaSport for their ongoing support of this event.

This championship won’t be much like any curling championship any of us has seen before. But it is sure to be full of some exceptional curling and exciting competition.

Good luck to all participants!

Sincerely, Teri Palynchuk

WELCOME FROM CURL BC
