In response to a call for more families to pay the fundraising levy – we have now raised nearly $20,000, which will go towards our 3 / 4 learning area renovation, as well as supporting the Library, our technology program and Nick’s garden. However, to continue to provide the environment and opportunities that RPS does - the things that make us a great school - we need to fundraise. Unfortunately this is the case, as the government provides only basic funding to keep the school in operation, but does not pay for improvements, enhanced programs or technology. The levy is only one way we use to raise the funds we need – we continue to count on your support to add further to our fundraising total by: Attending each of the 4 fundraising events each year (we have 2 left – the Trivia Night and the Arts Expo. If the Welcome BBQ and the Movie Night are anything to go by these events will be fabulous too!) Be a fundraising champion - encourage all of your friends (RPS or not!) to attend events Put your hand up to join the Events Committee to organise an event – the more help, the less work it is for everyone, the better the event, the more fun for all, and hopefully the more funds we will raise The last point is critical – without people to help organise the events, we can’t run them. As mentioned in a previous newsletter, after 3 years working tirelessly to raise funds for the school, Lou Johnson, Carolyn Roger, Jade Sheffield and Deb Neumann will be stepping down from the committee. They have done a fantastic job, and it is a huge loss. We are calling on parents to join the committee to be part of a team to run the Arts Expo. Again, as mentioned in last week’s newsletter, the way forward for the rest of the year and the future is to have small organising teams for each event - so you don’t need to take on all 4. The more people we have, the less effort it will take, and we can continue to raise funds to ensure our children get the education they deserve. A very big thankyou to Lou, Carolyn, Jade and Deb from the Committee as well as Loretta and Skye for all their hard work in organising our events and the Mother’s Day stall so far this year. Remember if you can help the organising team for the Trivia night (Amy Worth, Sophie Bissett and friends) with auction items or catering donations please contact [email protected], and if you can join our organising teams, please contact Dean or the school office– every dollar raised helps us provide the education our children desrve. Thankyou in advance for your ongoing support to reach our target of $130,000. Jo Cronin School Council President

KEEP COOL WITH A KEEP CUP!

#BYOCoffeeCup

It’s scientifically proven that disposable coffee cups cannot be recycled as they are lined with a plastic film. Statistics show that Australians use 1 billion disposable coffee cups each year and 90% end up in landfill. One solution is to take your own reusable coffee cup (like KeepCup) to cafes when getting take-away coffee. Keep Cups are designed and manufactured in Melbourne, Australia. They are dishwasher safe, BPA and BPS free and are recyclable at the end of their life. So why wait, buy a KeepCup today!

Fun Fact! The KeepCup compared to a disposable paper cup (including coffee) sees a: 36-47% reduction in global warming, carbon emissions, 64-85% reduction in water use, 90% reduction in landfill waste annually.

Order Form – Please note orders must go to the office by Thursday the 29th of June!!
