A MESSAGE FROM THE BOARD’S PRESIDENT & EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

What a year this has been – weather wise we have had to postpone or move meetings, workshops, etc. In spite of all the upset and delays, the Board has been working diligently to update our Strategic Plan, assess our services and evaluate the Board members’ commitment to the Council. We once again were renewed for Quality Assurance by Child Care Aware. Maintaining ourstatus nationally – which is not an easy task – and the recognition is to be touted as a greatacheievement. The Board and staff were involved and the partnership has been very strongand supportive. We both feel fortunate to be participating with such an active energetic Board. Our Parent Leadership initiative is going very well in five townships and expanding in the Towns of Huntington and Babylon to include civic engagement. We thank the Hagedorn Foundation for their unwaivering support and commitment. With the support from the Long Island Association and the Rauch Foundation, John Rizzo – Chief Economist has updated our “Child Care As An Industry” report and we are so pleased to show the strength of child care as an economic development issue on Long Island. We will have the report printed and available on the website shortly. Together we have been looking at how we do business, keeping on the cutting edge so we can best serve parent and child care providers of Suffolk County. We also thank those elected officials – Nationally, State and County who hear our issues and support our vision and mission. We are delighted to present our achievements to you.
