Helliwell ledall 150 laps starting from thepole to pull away at the checkersin an otherwise uneventful race.Joey Polewarczyk, Jr. won ahard fought battle for the run-ner-up position, beating EricChase who completed the podi-um. Austin Theriault and BrianHoar completed the top fiveafter swapping paint severaltimes in a door-handle to doorhandle battle over the final laps.Helliwell buried the field, lap-ping all but the top 11 cars andeasily pulling away on eachensuing restart. The 150-lapevent was completed in one hourand five minutes with eight cau-tion periods for minor spins andskirmishes. It was Helliwell’ssecond career ACT win and hissecond win in three events. Thewin keeps the Dover driver atopthe point standings just aheadof Polewarczyk, who claimed hissecond straight runner-up finishand his fourth top five in thefirst five events. “when” has become “what’snext?” With a four-year, 143-race victory drought decisivelybroken the previous week atMichigan International Speed-way, Junior can shift his focuson both long-term and immedi-ate goals. Earnhardt and crewchief Steve Letarte—who alsoended a lengthy non-winningstreak, 115 races dating to2009—are in the thick of the

NASCAR Sprint Cup Serieschampionship hunt. MattKenseth, who finished third atMichigan, retains the standingslead going into Sonoma , butEarnhardt’s victory cut the mar-gin to four points. The last timeEarnhardt held the points leadwas October 2004. “I want to tryto win a championship.
