“Peace! Be still!” Friends, in and through Christ, ╬ love has overcome. Love is victorious. We arise as with the dawning of a new day. Praise be to God. Amen!

We are so often given over to fear, O God. Like the disciples we huddle together, swamped in spirit by the waves of life in their many different forms. For it is not as though there is nothing to be afraid of. And we need not pretend that faith puts an end to all doubt.

It is simply that in those difficult and very human moments we do not reach out to you. We do not seek the reassurance and calm that you are so willing to give. Hear then our cry for healing; hear in our hearts our longing for calming peace. Amen.

Prayer of Confession

Assurance of Pardon

Sentence

Saving God, Entering the flood and storm of chaos and confusion: speak peace to our fearful hearts that we might find our faith in him whose word brings rest to all creation; through Jesus Christ, lord of wind and wave. Amen.

The Lord is the strength of his people, he is the saving refuge of his anointed. O save your people, and bless your heritage; be their shepherd and carry them for ever. Psalm 28 v 8-9

AM 148 At the name of Jesus Caroline M Noel

1. At the name of Jesus, every knee shall bow, every tongue confess him, King of glory now: ‘tis the Father’s pleasure, we should call him Lord, who from the beginning, was the mighty Word.

2. At his voice creation, sprang at once to sight, all the angel faces, all the hosts of light, thrones and dominations, stars upon their way, all the heavenly orders, in their great array.

3. Humbled for a season, to receive a name from the lips of sinners, unto whom he came, faithfully he bore it, spotless to the last, brought it back victorious, when from death he passed:

4. Bore it up triumphant, with its human light, through all ranks of creatures, to the central height, to the throne of Godhead, to the Father’s breast; filled it with the glory, of that perfect rest.

5. Name him, brothers, name him, with love strong as death, but with awe and wonder, and with bated breath: he is God the Saviour, he is Christ the Lord, ever to be worshipped, trusted and adored.

6. In your hearts enthrone him; there let him subdue all that is not holy, all that is not true: crown him as your Captain, in temptation’s hour; let his will enfold you, in its light and power.

7. Brothers, this Lord Jesus, shall return again, with his Father’s glofy, with his angel train; for all wreaths of empire, meet upon his brow, and our hearts confess him, King of glory now.

Christian Social Services Hub

The Interchurch Council is to be the forum for a proposal to make the Old Lush Vicarage into a centre

(Interchurch) for Social Services in Thames. Next week’s meeting will look

at that and another interchurch discussion at Wednesday’s ICC meeting at the Baptism Church

Complex.

Tax Rebates ex IRD Thank you to those of you who have and are in process of applying for the 33.33% rebates on charitable giving. All of the receipts are out now (let me know if you haven’t had yours and the Treasurer or Parish Recorder will investigate). Many of you haven’t applied for the rebate before and are doing so as to contribute that amount as well as you regular giving to the parish. That way, without giving an extra cent, our giving increases by 25% in the next financial year. And that makes a big difference to parish mission and ministry here in Thames! If you have a receipt (that includes our registration number) from any giving to the parish in the last financial year it will most likely be relevant in gaining a third rebate you can also be credited with next year.
