SEHKS Faculty & Staff Attend In-Service TrainingYouth Leaders Take Oath of Service

Solemnity of Saints Peter and Paul, the new set of officers of our Youth Parish and Barangay Councils took their oath of service during the Youth Mass, which was presided by Fr. Peter John Guarin, Parochial Vicar.

The new set of officers was chosen after the term of office of Apollo Garcia who served for two years in the ministry as a Youth Coordinator.

Our new JPYM Officers are as follows:

The faculty and staff of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Kinder School attended a two-day in service training on June 7-8. This personnel development activity was spearheaded by Mrs. Rose Marie R. Piamonte, Academic Consultant and Continuing Education In-Charge of SEHKS, and supported by the School Director, Most Rev. Gerardo A. Alminaza, D.D. and Assistant School Director, Rev. Fr. Ronald C. De Leon. Prof. O B. Dañucop, a retired education specialist from the West Visayas State University, was the resource speaker.

The training was conducted in three sessions, each of which was capped with a workshop to gauge the trainees’ understanding of the topics discussed.

Session 1, Understanding the Pre-School Child, focused

on the impact of rapid technological breakthrough and social changes on the nature of early childhood. The resource speaker gave the trainees hints and ideas on how to handle children with high technological exposure to and experience with modern scientific gadgets and how to make them shift their interest to basic and traditional ways of reading and writing. According to her, today’s children are highly susceptible to the changes taking place in society and are fast affected and influenced by their environment. Since these children remain so until they become six years old, they need understanding and guidance. They should be taught good, desirable values that they will carry and nurture to adulthood.

Daku gid ang akon pagpasalamat sa aton mahal nga Dios tungod sang grasya sang mga leaders sa aton Youth Ministry nga bag-o lang nagpakigbahin sa Leadership Training sang Hunyo 28-29. Paagi sini, ginhanas sila bahin sa pastoral thrust sang aton Arkidiosesis nga amo ang pagbalay kag pagpasanyog sang Magagmay nga Kristianong Katilingban (MKK). Sila ginalauman naton nga mangin parish youth MKK formators, organizers kag mobilizers sa ila kaugalingon nga mga barangay agod nga sa sining new way of being Church - ang MKK - magtubo sila upod sa ila mga isigka-pamatan-on sa isa ka way of life nga pangkatilingbanon: may katarungan, paghigugma, kabalaka, kaalwan, kag iban pa nga mga Kristohanon nga

panimuot kag pamatasan bilang mga sumulunod ni Kristo.

Nagapati ako nga bilang isa sa mga pilot parishes sang MKK diri sa aton Arkidiosesis, daku gid nga grasya ining aton bag-o nga set of youth leaders kag ang Leadership Training nga aton ginpatigayon. Maathag sa akon nga sa sini nga mga hilikuton, yara kita sa husto nga dalan kag direksiyon, nagapanglakaton padulong sa aton handom nga isa ka Simbahan sang nahugpong nga mga katilingban (communion of communities). Maathag man sa aton panan-awan nga ang MKK indi lamang para sa mga tigulang o kababaihan kundi para sa tanan nga mga binunyagan (lalaki kag babae), para gid sa bug-os nga katapo sang pamilya sumugod sa kabataan tubtob

sa katigulangan.Si Pope Francis, bilang

isa ka matuod nga spiritual son ni San Ignacio de Loyola, nagsiling nga isa sang pinaka-importante nga tutukan sa edukasyon sang mga lamharon amo nga sila mangin maalwan sing taguipusoon ukon magnanimous. Siya nagsiling, “What does being magnanimous mean? It means having a great heart, having greatness of mind; it means having great ideals, the wish to do great things to respond to what God asks of us. motivation for their service (2) to introduce and enroll them to the BEC Culture (3) to form them as good and effective BEC Leaders as youth formators, organizers and mobilizers; and (4) to facilitate building and strengthening their relationship as youth leaders so as to create synergy.

Indi nangin madinalag-on ining Leadership Training kon wala ang bulig ni Ms. Adelfa Salva nga naghatag sang talk nahanungod sa topiko nga “What is BEC/MKK?” kag Mr. Dean Dicen nga naghambal nahanungod sa “Youth Leadership in a BEC Culture”. Ako ang nagbulig patigayon sang ila Team Building Activities kag naghatag man sang talk nahanungod sa “Spirituality of a Youth Leader in a BEC Culture”.

Ang aton mga programa sa Youth Ministry (YM) ginatinghuwaan nga magsanto sa programa sang aton parokya kag

Arkidiosesis. Nagapati kita nga ang YM indi separate entity sa iban nga mga ministry and organizations sa parokya. Wala ini nagakabuhi in isolation kondi naga-upod sa pagpanglakaton padulong sa padayon nga katumanan sang aton Archdiocesan kag Parish Shared Vision-Mission.

Aton ginalauman nga sa pinakamadali nga panahon ang aton mga kabataan makabalay sang ila kaugalingon nga mga MKK cells sa ila mismo barangay kon sa diin sila ululopod nga nagapangamuyo kag nagapamalandong sang Pulong sang Dios kag nagahimo sang mga maayo nga binuhatan sa ila isigkatawo on behalf of justice and participation.

Paagi sa MKK, magpangabuhi unta ang mga kabataan nga Kristohanon. Magtubo unta sa ila ang Christian way of life kon sa diin sila nagahigugma, nagakabalaka kag naga-unong sa isa kag isa.

ANG IKATLO NGA SUGO SANG DIOS: PAKASANTOSON MO ANG DOMINGO, ANG ADLAW SANG GINOO

15. Ano ang ginamando sang ikatlo nga Sugo sang Dios?

Ang ikatlo nga sugo nagamando sa pagpakabalaan sang Adlaw sang Ginoo paagi sa paghatag sa Dios sang nagakaigo nga pagdayaw kag pagsimba. Sa daan nga Kasugtanan, ang ikapito nga adlaw ginatawag nga SABBATH sa Hebreo, nga kon sayuron – ‘nag-untat sa pagpahuway’, agod mapakabalaan ang pagpahuway sang Dios sa ikapito nga adlaw sang pagtuga. ( CCC 2168)

Amo ini ang nasulat sa kasulatan: “Dumduma ang adlaw nga inogpahuway, kag pakabala-ana ini sa Ginoo. Mag-obra ka sa sulod sang anum ka adlaw, apang ang ikapito nga adlaw amo ang adlaw nga inugpahuway nga imo pakabalaanon sa Ginoo nga imo Dios. Indi ka mag-obra sa sina nga adlaw” (Exodo 20:8-10).

“Bantayi ang adlaw nga inugpahuway, kag gamita ini para sa akon, subong nga ako, ang Ginoo nga imo Dios nagsugo sa imo. Mag-obra ka sa sulod sang anum ka adlaw apang ang ikapito nga

adlaw amo ang adlaw nga inugpahuway nga gamiton para sa akon. Sa sina nga adlaw wala sing may mag-obra bisan ikaw, ang imo mga kabataan, ang imo mga suloguon, ang imo mga kahayupan, ukon ang mga dumuluong nga nagapuyo sa imo pungsod” (Deuteronomio 5:12-14).

16. Ang ang kahulogan sang pag-untat sang Dios sa pagtuga kag nagpahuway?

Gintuga sang Dios ang kalibutan sa anum ka adlaw kag pagkatapus sini nagpahuway sia. Nagpahuway sia indi tungod kay kinapoy sia sa pagtuga kundi ginbendisyonan niya ini nga adlaw agod ang mga tinuga magkilala sang katahum sang iya mga gintuga kag agod ini sila magproklamar sang iya kahimayaan. (CCC 2168-2169)

‘‘Gani ang duta, ang langit, kag ang tanan nga yara sa ila nahuman. Sa ikapito ka adlaw natapos sang Dios ang iya buluhaton, kag nag-untat sia sa pag-obra. Ginbendisyonan niya ang ikapito nga adlaw kag ginpain niya ini subong nga isa ka pinasahi nga adlaw, kay sa sini nga adlaw ginatapos niya ang iya buluhaton, kag nag-untat sia sa pag-obra’’

(Gen 2:1-3). Sa libro sang Exodo, ang Dios

nagpahayag kay Moises: “Sa sulod sang anum ka adlaw ang Ginoo nagtuga sang langit kag duta, sang dagat, kag sang tanan nga yara sa ila. Apang sa ikapito nga adlaw nagpahuway sia. Gani ako, ang Ginoo, nagbendisyon sang adlaw nga inugpahuway kag ginpakabalaan ini para sa akon kaugalingon” (Exodo 20:11).

17. Ano ang ginadumdum sang mga Israelinhon sang ila pagsaulog sang adlaw nga inugpahuway?

Ginadumdum sang mga Israelinhon ang ila nga pagkahilway gikan sa pagkaulipon didto sa Egipto bilang tanda sang kasugtanan sang Dios sa ila nga iya banwa. (CCC 2270)

“Dumduma nga ikaw nangin ulipon man sa duta sang Egipto kag ako, ang Ginoo nga imo Dios nagluwas sa imo paagi sa akon daku nga gahum kag kusog. Gani, ginasugo ko ikaw sa pagbantay sang adlaw nga inugpahuway” (Dt 5:15). “Ang mga tawo sang Israel dapat magpahuway sa adlaw nga inugpahuway. Ang tanan nga mga kaliwatan sa ulihi, dapat magtuman sini, subong isa ka

18. May kahulogan bala ining pagpain sang Dios sang adlaw nga inogpahuway para sa mga tawo?

Ang pagpahuway sang Dios isa ka modelo nga dapat sundon sang tawo. Kon ang Dios nagpahuway sa ikapito ka adlaw kag iya ginpakabalaan ini, ang tawo dapat man magpahuway kag magpamalandong sang kaayo sang Dios, kay kon wala magtuga ang Dios, wala sing bisan ano nga nangin yara. (CCC 2172)

“Mangin tanda ini nga wala sing katapusan sa tunga nakon kag sang mga tawo sang Israel, kay ako, ang Ginoo nagtuga sang langit kag duta sa sulod sang anum ka adlaw, kag sa ikapito nga adlaw nag-untat ako sa pag-obra kag nagpahuway” (Exo 31:17).

Ang pagpahuway kinahanglan sang tawo para sa kaayohan sang iya lawas kag kalag. “Mag-obra sa sulod sang anum ka adlaw, apang sa ikapito nga adlaw indi ka mag-obra, agod ang imo mga baka kag ang imo mga asno makapahuway, kag ang imo mga ulipon kag ang mga dumuluong maulian sing ila kusog” (Exo 23:12).

Sa tapos sini ang Ginoo nagpili sing 72 ka mga tawo kag iya sila ginpadala sing tag-duhaduha sa pag-una sa iya sa tagsa ka mga banwa kag duog nga iya pagakadtuan. 2Nagsiling sia sa ila, “Malapad ang alanyon, pero diutay lang ang mga mangangani. Gani magpangamuyo kamo sa tag-iya sang alanyon nga magpadala sia sing dugang pa nga mga mangangani sa iya alanyon. 3Lakat kamo! Ginapadala ko kamo subong mga karnero sa tunga sang mga lobo. 4Indi kamo magdala sing kahita, ukon puyo, ukon sandalyas. Indi kamo magdulog sa pagpanamyaw bisan kay sin-o sa dalan. 5Kon magsulod kamo sa isa ka balay, magsiling kamo anay, ‘Paghidait sa sini nga balay’. 6Kon ang nagapuyo dira tawo nga mahidaiton, ibilin sa iya ang inyo panamyaw sang

Indi kamo magsagad saylusaylo sing dalayunan. 8Kon magkadto kamo sa isa ka banwa kag ginaabi-abi kamo, kauna ninyo ang ginaamuma sa inyo, 9ayuha ninyo ang mga nagamasakit sa sina nga banwa, kag magsiling kamo sa mga tawo didto, ‘Ang Ginharian sang Dios malapit na sa inyo.’ 10Pero kon magsulod kamo sa isa ka banwa kag wala kamo ginabi-abi didto, kadto kamo sa mga dalan kag magsiling, 11’Bisan ang yab-ok sang inyo banwa nga nagatapik sa amon mga tiil amon nga tatakon batok sa inyo. Pero dumdoma ninyo

Apang sa Iya pagpalakat sa ila Iya sila ginhatagan sang sini nga mga instructions: indi sila magdala sang kahita ukon sandalyas, indi man sila magsagad pamugno samtang sila nagapakadto sa kon diin sila ginpadala. Wala ini nagakahulogan nga indi na gid sila magkaon ukon indi nila pagsapakon ang mga tawo nga nagabugno sa ila sa dalanon. Ang luyag hatagan pagtamod ni Jesus amo nga ang pinakaimportante nga bahin sang ila misyon amo ang pagbantala sang Iya mensahe gani dapat nga ihalad nila ang ila bug-os nga kabuhi para sa sini nga buluhaton. Indi pwede nga ang ginhatag Niya sa ila nga misyon himuon lang nila sa patuyang kag indi nila pagseryusuhon. Ang Iya mga ginpadala indi dapat ma distract sa ila misyon. Sa masami ang dutan-on nga propriedad kag kabalaka amo ang nagapahinay kag kon kaisa amo pa gani ang nagapaguba sang focus sang gintuton-an in following and in preaching Jesus. Daw ano ka tuod

Dugang pa ni Ginoong Jesus, panangliltan isikway ang mga apostoles sa ila sa banwa nga ila kadtuan sa pagbantala sang Maayong Balita, kadto sila sa dalan kag magsiling,’Bisan ang yab-ok sang inyo banwa nga nagatapik sa amon mga tiil amon nga tatakon batok sa inyo. Pero dumdoma ninyo ini, ang Ginharian sang Dios malapit na kuntani sa inyo’.

Nagakahulugan bala ini nga sa pagtatak sang yab-ok sang ila mga tiil, madula na ang ila kaangtanan sa sina nga banwa? Huo, kasubong abi sang indi paghinangpanay, indi maayo ang pagtinamdanay, wala sing pag-paubos ang isa kag isa, kundi sirado man ang aton tagipusuon, gani mabudlay ang pagsulod sang Pulong sang Dios.

Ang tanan ginbuot sang Dios para sa aton. Iya kita gintuga nga may upod sang kinaalam nga Iya ginhatag sa aton. Ining pagtuman sang Iya pagbuot, suno man sa aton pagpili kag paghangop sang Iya tinutuyo.

Sang una wala pa gid man ako makahangop sang tanan bahin sa relihiyon. Ngaa nagatuo kita sa isa ka Dios nga may Tatlo ka Persona? Ngaa nga may nagakalain-lain nga mga relihiyon? Sa akon nga bahin, daw luyag ko lang nga magsimba adlaw-adlaw, mag nobena sa mga Santos, kag magpasakop sa Legion of Mary. Ang amon visitation nagalakip sang pag-census sa mga panimalay, pagbisita sa ila kag, labaw sa tanan, sa paghibalo kon ang nagapuyo bilang mag-asawa nakasal sa Simbahan. Kon wala gani, amon sila ginabalik-balikan tubtob magpasugot nga magpakasal. Kon makasal na gani sila, nalipay gid kami sina, kay ‘mission accomplished’ na. God the Father is very loving, merciful, and forgiving. We can ask physical and spiritual healing from Him for us, for our family, for our friends, for anybody who needs it. He invites us to….

A. pray with sincerity from our heart, concentrate on what we are asking for, with attention and trust, not looking around, or thinking of other things while we pray.

B. pray with humility, acknowledging our nothingness and believing in our Father’s supremacy

C. pray with perseverance, not getting downhearted if our prayers are not answered at once, because God the Father sees and knows what is best.

Daily and constant prayers work wonders in all ways. Upon waking up, let us talk to God first, not only the prescribed memorized prayers but those coming from our heart.

Pray before going to bed because we can never tell what the night would bring. There are those who do not only oversleep, but close their eyes for eternity. They die in their sleep.

The rosary is very effective and consoling. Try dedicating every decade to what you feel you need; for example: the first decade for safety in the home, the second decade, for the protection of those who are travelling, the third decade for economic needs, the fourth decade for the success and protection of the working family members and those who are in school, and the fifth decade for the strong spirituality of all the family members. Try this and you will get positive results.

My grandchild who was diagnosed with leukemia and was advised to undergo an operation was transferred from a private hospital to West Visayas State University Medical Center because a lady doctor offered her services at a much lesser fee.

My daughter (her aunt) and my son (her father) told me to pray over her. My heart was filled with pity for the patient, but I was confident that God the Father will listen to my prayers. I was right. When she was x-rayed before the supposed operation, the doctor was surprised when nothing appeared on the plate. She was

subjected to more tests. No growth. No leukemia. Nothing. Today, she is working in an internet center and she moves as if nothing happened to her. It strengthened my devotion to our Father.

Also, love the Mass. Let us not forget our Sunday obligation so that God will not forsake us. Let us try to take Holy Communion often because it nourishes our relationship with God; and with Him close to us, we become confident, courageous, and strong.

Join the apostolate even if you are an employee. You can do it wherever you are. Learn to be subtle and give God the most important part in your life. Give to Him your days off from work as an apostle and you will not regret. Develop an apostolate: either alone or with a group. Make every minute a step towards an eternity of love. Let us continue to increase

our devotion to God the Father and be firm with it.

Every day is an addition to our age. As we grow in age, everything in this world gradually becomes a shadow of the past. Leave memories behind you so that people will remember you not only as a family member, a relative, or a friend, but as an apostle of God the Father – not just a disciple.

Let us make this a dream of love an ambition of glory and salvation, an ambition that will overcome all obstacles. Let us make our spiritual life a delicious recipe of blending ingredients that can satisfy and save.

On bright nights, as you look up, can you see the twinkling stars in the sky which gives brilliance to darkness? Don’t you wish you were one of them? Don’t you wish you were a bright star at God the Father’s feet?
