October – Virtual Event

November – Professional Development Dinner Meeting

President’s Message Dear Susquehanna Chapter Members,

Our May events – a professional development dinner with Senator JB Jennings and a virtual event, “Making the Most of Your LinkedIn Profile” – were successful. Thank you to everyone who participated in these events.

At the June 6th Board of Directors meeting, the decision to provide the newsletter in an online format to those who have email addresses, with paper copies to those who do not have email addresses, was reaffirmed. We believe our Chapter dues is sufficient to cover this cost for the short term, without a dues increase.

Our Chapter picnic is this coming Sunday, June 25th, and I’m looking forward to an enjoyable few hours with fellow members at Shore Park on Aberdeen Proving Ground. If you haven’t registered for the picnic yet there’s still time to do that – until June 22nd; you can do so on the Activities page of our Chapter web site. http://susquehannamoaa.org/chapter-activities/

In mid-July, Dan Lafontaine and I will be meeting with Harford County Director of Administration Billy Boniface and Harford County Council Member James McMahan to discuss the enabling legislation passed by the Maryland General Assembly property tax exemption that provides for a 20% property tax exemption for five years for homeowners age 65+ who have owned their home for 40 years, and military retirees age 65+ who

own their homes without a time restriction. Our goal is to gain the County Executive’s support for this, and to get Harford County legislation written and passed. We will keep you updated on our progress with the issue.

The Chapter Board of Directors takes a hiatus from meeting over the summer months. However, we’re always available to you, so please reach out to us if you have a need, or a question.

I’m looking forward to seeing you at the picnic!

Enthusiastically!

Annie

Susquehanna Chapter Membership Benefits Talking to a potential new member? Here are some of the key benefits to belonging to the Susquehanna Chapter:

• Connections: When you attend chapter meetings, become active on a committee, or take a prominent leadership role, you will forge lasting ties with other MOAA members who have common professional interests and similar association concerns.

• Community involvement: Chapter membership provides opportunities to contribute to your community in a variety of ways, from providing scholarships to local students to supporting causes that support wounded warriors, active duty servicemembers and their families, and veterans in-need.

• Legislative advocacy: MOAA chapter members play a critical role in advancing legislation at both the state and national level. This grassroots advocacy is key to MOAA achieving its legislative goals.
