What a fantastic final week of the term we have had. I am going to talk about a few of the amazing events that took place this week: Yesterday we had an amazing day at Dwyer Oval for our annual school athletics carnival. A very big thank you to the teachers, led by Miss Brown, Miss Rigas and Miss Newton who coordinated our K-2 and 3-6 carnivals. The weather was great and we had a great day of running, jumping and throwing. A special thanks to the Lurnea High School students who came and helped us out with our events. Finally, I really wanted to say a huge thank you to our P&C parents who worked from 7.30 in the morning to organise our BBQ on the day. Days like this are not possible without wonderful parent like you. We loved seeing so many of our families coming along as spectators to cheer students on. Thank you everyone for a great day. Stage 3 celebrated Gold Day today. This is a culmination of a great term of learning which has been made fun and engaging by our super Stage 3 teachers. All term, students have been taking on the role of gold prospectors, they have been earning pounds, mining for gold in the Prestons Gold Fields (and sometimes being fined pounds if they did not have their gold licence on them). Students spent today living the life of a gold miner. They have built shelters to live in on the Prestons Gold Fields, cooked damper and participated in an auction to purchase items for their life on the Gold Fields. What a great way to finish off a fantastic term of learning. Thank you to the super Stage 3 teachers for planning this. We also celebrated amazing achievements of our graduating MultiLit students. Miss Francesca, Miss Anna and Mr Daryl have been working so hard with selected students from Year 3 and 5 this semester. The growth in reading has been amazing and we are so proud of our students. Next semester, students in Year 2 and 4 will be engaging in the MultiLit program. School holidays are on next week. I would like to wish all of our students a wonderful and safe holiday. We are looking forward to seeing everyone back at school on Tuesday 24 July. Have a wonderful holiday and don’t forget to ask your child what they are learning at school. Spotlight on Learning

Congratulations to our students for graduting from the 2018 MultiLit program.

Kinder to Year 2 To assist in the event of toileting accidents and spills, it would be appreciated if parents could keep a change of clothing, including socks and underwear, in their child’s bag. This will help to ensure your child is changed quickly as spare clothing is not always available from the office.

K Wombats

How time flies when you are having fun! Kinder Wombats have had a busy and productive Term 2. We cannot believe that half of the Kindergarten year is nearly over. During Term 2 we have continued to work hard to increase our skills and strategies in reading and writing. In Mathematics we have been busy learning about addition and subtraction. Every day we practice and improve our number skills.

On Friday 1st June we celebrated the beginning of Winter. The children wore hats, gloves, mittens and scarves to school to keep warm. A few weeks ago Kinder Wombats had a team challenge to create something using a large cardboard box. All the groups worked well and had fun to use their imagination and team work skills. The boxes turned into houses, rockets, cupboards and cars.

This term in History children were asked to bring in and talk about a significant item. The whole class enjoyed listening to each other speak and then asked questions about the special items. Every day our class learns, laughs and plays together in our QUALITY classroom!
