Build Relationships through the SAME DC Post

“It was the best of times; it was the worst of times.” So begins Dickens' classic Great Expectations. Many people in our industry may not feel very optimistic in these trying economic times, which is completley understandable. But as our new Presi-dential Chief of Staff has been quoted saying “…we should never waste a crisis.” I can assure you, there are opportunities out there.

SAME is now more important than ever. Membership in this organization allows us to take advantage of these opportunities. The government is making huge investments to get our economy kickstarted. There is tremendous pressure on government agencies to execute quickly and effi ciently with transparency. Government and industry have to work together to make this happen. Those who do not partner effec-tively will be on the sidelines; those who can will reap the benefi ts, and so will our nation.

Partnering does not happen without fi rst establish-ing relationships. Our SAME Washington DC Post can and should be a mechanism to establish these relationships. I want to make this organization as relevant as possible for all of our members.

We will do this by offering relevant luncheon pro-grams with key regional decision and policy mak-ers offering their insights on the direction of their programs. We will do this by offering a CEU granting technical programs, so that our members can sup-port their licensing requirements and learn new skills. We will do this by establishing forums for members to network, discuss overcoming mutual challenges, and share opportunities. We will do this by getting involved in our community. We will do this by sup-porting our soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines.
